Bluff 75, Dexter 44
DEXTER -- Poplar Bluff's leading scorers for the season had just four combined points in the first half Friday night but the Mules still led by 20.
Jake White hit three 3-pointers and finished with 17 points, Kendric McCain added 14 and Jordan Marler chipped in 10 as Poplar Bluff rolled past Dexter 75-44 in a SEMO Conference game.
Jay Raulston and Eljie Johnson each scored seven points for the Mules (6-2, 1-0 SEMO).
Jon Bowman and Alan Flannigan each led Dexter with 11 points.
Poplar Bluff led wire-to-wire for the second straight game and scored 13 straight points in the second quarter. The Mules scored the final five points of the first quarter to take a 16-9 lead into the second.
Dexter (1-5, 1-3) pulled within five on Flannigan's bucket in the paint with 7:03 left in the half. Michael Griggs scored and got a steal to set up a 3-pointer by White. After another 3 from White, Raulston scored and Marler hit a 3-pointer before McCain finished the run with a pull-up jumper in transition.
Poplar Bluff led 44-24 at halfime and held Dexter scoreless in the second half until the 3:17 mark of the third quarter. The Mules scored 11 straight points and took a 65-30 lead into the fourth.
Poplar Bluff returns to action in the Poplar Bluff Showdown on Dec. 28 while Dexter will next play in the Bloomfield Christmas Tournament.
