Spotlight on wrestlersPosted Thursday, January 7, 2010, at 7:36 AM
UPDATE: The matches scheduled for Thursday night with Jackson and Dexter at Poplar Bluff have been postponed.
The Poplar Bluff Mules hosted their first match of the season Tuesday night at Peters Gym, beating Sikeston 41-33. Fans were in the dark, so-to-speak, as the Mules wrestled under a spotlight on the mat. It gave the match a look straight out of the 1985 movie "Vision Quest."
"It ain't the six minutes... it's what happens in that six minutes." Story in Wednesday's DAR.

Brian Rosener has been the sports editor for the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since December 2001. He was born and raised in St. Louis, where he attended Lindbergh High School and Webster University. I've never attended a wrestling event. Are there typically spectators at wrestling competitions? I have a hard time understanding the rules of high school wrestling.
Lol! Nice quote Mr. Rosener.
HAHA WOW!!! Seriously though, if someone could explain the rules to me. I don't really understand H.S. wrestling.
Notre Dame is new to wrestling this year but we have many awesome young men on the team and I am a very proud wrestling mom.
Thanks for the rules Mr. Rosener.
Yes we do have alot of dedicated and awesome young men at Notre Dame. They may go out there and get beat but at least they keep coming back for more. They will one day soon with dedication be a winning team. Wrestling is an awesome sport. I am a wrestling mom too.
