Mules move up in football

The Poplar Bluff Mules football team reached the playoffs for the first time since 2000 this season in Class 4, but if they're going to make another playoff push next fall it will be in Class 5.

The Mules joined Jackson, Seckman and Rockwood Summit in District 1.

UPDATE: The Mules are looking for an opponent in Week 3 and are willing to travel, PBHS Athletic Director Jim Brown said.

Once the schedule is complete, I'll update the blog and run a story with details.

Good. Doesn't seem right that Jackson is a smaller town than Cape Girardeau and Poplar Bluff and yet their team has been the only one from Southeast Missouri to play in Class 5.

DonT15---Cape has been class 5..Also, Jackson has a much larger school district than Cape. They basically have all of Cape County with the exception of Cape city limits.
