Race for SEMO title heats up

Posted Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at 10:56 AM

Poplar Bluff's 57-45 win over New Madrid County Central on Tuesday left one team left unbeaten in SEMO Conference play. The Mules, however, have four games left and it's not an easy road.

They travel to Sikeston (Friday) and host Cape Central (Saturday) before traveling to Notre Dame (Feb. 12) and hosting Charleston (Feb. 19).

There are no tiebreakers, so there could be a two or three-way tie for a league that has seen a team win a state title but not a conference title in the past.

SEMO CONFERENCE STANDINGS

Notre Dame4-1
New Madrid Central4-1
Poplar Bluff3-0
Sikeston3-1
Cape Central0-2
Charleston2-3

what happen at last nights game between our cheerleader and nmcc player?

The NMCC player dove out of bounds and accidently knocked her over as he was sliding across the ground. As he was getting up she slugged the 6'4 guy in the face haha! Then someone came and removed her from the game.

I think this game will decide which team wins the conference.

Is there a tie-breaker if three teams finish tied for first?

It says in the article that there is no tiebreaker.

if pb wins out they will of course win it but if we get beat then more than likely it will be co-champs again this year.

i wonder if sikeston looses to bluff and nd beats bluff if nmcc would win the title, i would think so because they have tiebreaker over nd(unless of course they lose.

there is no tiebreaker if a couple of teams have the same record than it is co-champs

I see thats kinda odd really.

i think the mules will handle cape central and charleston at home, but winning at sikeston and nd will be very tough. if they split with those two, it looks like there will be at least a two-way tie for the title. regardless, it's always a trememdous accomplishment to gain at least a share of a championship in what is one of the toughest conferences in the state.
