Brian Rosener is the keeper of the Semoball Cup which is presented to the school with the most successful season. It is based on a formula that takes into account the combined winning percentage of all sports teams plus bonus points for advancement in postseason play for both teams and individuals. The bonus points are divided by the number of teams a school fields. Rosener has been the sports editor for the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since December 2001. He was born and raised in St. Louis, where he attended Lindbergh High School and Webster University. He is married to Jennifer, a Poplar Bluff native, has a son Jack and a dog named Satchel who stands in for his @semoballBrian photo.

Notre Dame players take home awards

Tolbert and Morrill

Notre Dame's Jane Morrill and Jacob Tolbert picked up the awards for most outstanding players in the SEMO Conference at the 52nd annual Poplar Bluff Letter Club Basketball Banquet tonight.

Morrill and Tolbert headlined the All-SEMO Conference teams which were also honored at the banquet at Poplar Bluff High School.

Cape Central's Sadie Pittman earned the scoring award while Notre Dame's Allyson Bradshaw won the free throw award.

Peters, Sikeston's Gregg Hollifield and New Madrid Central's Travis Day were named coaches of the year.

Southeast Missouri State men's basketball coach Dickey Nutt was the guest speaker.

Cape Central boys got two players on there, yet they got 2nd to last in the conference? Hmmm.

They still beat ND, Sikeston, Bluff, and jackson and also played the other teams close for the entire game..

Cape Central's wins against ND and Jackson weren't conference victories, they were in the Xmas tourney. Their only two conference wins were against Sikeston and Bluff, so they were just 2-5 in conference play. I would think a team like Sikeston or Notre Dame, which WON the conference, would get more than one player on there. To be honest though, the all-conference team should be 5 players, not 10. It was 5 players forever and they expanded it to 10 a few years back.
