Brian Rosener is the keeper of the Semoball Cup which is presented to the school with the most successful season. It is based on a formula that takes into account the combined winning percentage of all sports teams plus bonus points for advancement in postseason play for both teams and individuals. The bonus points are divided by the number of teams a school fields. Rosener has been the sports editor for the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since December 2001. He was born and raised in St. Louis, where he attended Lindbergh High School and Webster University. He is married to Jennifer, a Poplar Bluff native, has a son Jack and a dog named Satchel who stands in for his @semoballBrian photo.

Class 2 playoffs

Clearwater and Twin Rivers took the field but four batters later, the teams headed to the dugouts before rain started to fall. The Royals have two on and one out in the top of the first inning.

After a delay of about 30 minutes, the game has been postponed.

The game will be continued at 2 p.m. today, but the place is yet to be determined. (Depends on how much water is on the field) Will update later this morning. It will be at Piedmont.

The winner will play Crystal City (18-5), which beat Scott City, 2-0 in eight innings Monday. Crystal City will host Clearwater, should the Tigers win, but travel to Twin Rivers for the quarterfinal playoff Wednesday.

UPDATE: Clearwater will play at 4 p.m. Wednesday against Crystal City at West City Park in Festus. Rob Tate will post updates on our Twitter account.

It's official, Clearwater has beaten Twin Rivers 16-4 after a 3-run homerun by Chris kirkpatrick to put them ahead and a grand-slam by Kendall Fay in the bottom of the 6th to put them up by 12! Look out Crystal City, Clearwater is like a shark in the water!

My bad, I meant 2 run homer for Kirkpatrick, I was there and still messed that up.
