Matt Rogers starts NBA camp

Posted Tuesday, September 28, 2010, at 7:39 PM

Sounds like Matt had a good first day.

Last week I wrote that Doniphan native Matt Rogers had a few tryouts with NBA teams. At the very bottom of an Associated Press story yesterday was this item:

The Bobcats invited 6-11 rookie Matt Rogers from Division II Southwest Baptist University to camp.

Rogers will be starting camp today with the Charlotte Bobcats. He is not on the roster because he has not signed a contract yet.

Rogers also worked out the New York Knicks, New Jersey Nets, San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Mavericks.

I'll have more in today's DAR and hope to catch up with Matt in the near future.

Here is a blog post about Rogers from a writer who covers the Bobcats.

I remember Rogers well. I'll never forget his long arms.
