Brian Rosener is the keeper of the Semoball Cup which is presented to the school with the most successful season. It is based on a formula that takes into account the combined winning percentage of all sports teams plus bonus points for advancement in postseason play for both teams and individuals. The bonus points are divided by the number of teams a school fields. Rosener has been the sports editor for the Daily American Republic in Poplar Bluff, Mo. since December 2001. He was born and raised in St. Louis, where he attended Lindbergh High School and Webster University. He is married to Jennifer, a Poplar Bluff native, has a son Jack and a dog named Satchel who stands in for his @semoballBrian photo.

Matt Rogers debut on national TV

UPDATE: Matt Rogers did not play Thursday night in a 123-115 loss to Rio Grande Valley. Didn't get a chance to watch the game since I'm working on the prep basketball preview which is scheduled to be in Monday's DAR.

Rogers was on the cover of the 2006 preview, what two other players were also on that cover? (Answer: Poplar Bluff's Ben Hansbrough and Michael Lance of Twin Rivers)

Doniphan native Matt Rogers will make his professional debut with the Texas Legends of the NBA D-League on Thursday night. Fortunately, you don't have to make the trip to Rio Grande, Texas to see it. The Legends and host Vipers will be televised at 7 p.m. on Versus.

The game will be the first for the expansion Legends, who are coached by Nancy Lieberman, the first female head coach in the NBA or NBA D-League.

Rogers was selected fourth overall in the D-League draft after being cut by the Charlotte Bobcats during the preseason.

Preview section will be in Monday's DAR with rosters and schedules for the 31 teams in and around Poplar Bluff, but we'll have feature stories in the paper Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to kick off the season.
