Carpenter will undergo surgery on elbowPosted Saturday, May 5, 2007, at 5:02 PM
The St. Louis Cardinals will lose the services of Chris Carpenter for at least three months. He'll undergo surgeryon his elbow next week.
Carpenter hasn't pitched since opening night but the Cardinals have been hoping the right-hander would return to action next week. After today's blowout loss to Houston, the Cardinals are 11-17 on the season. In the National League, only the Washington Nationals, a team that's practically a lock to lose 100 games this season, have a worse record than the defending World Champions. Update: Roster moves for Sunday - outfielder Ryan Ludwick and pitcher Brian Falkenborg called up today. Preston Wilson goes on the D.L and and a relief pitcher, probably Dennis Dove, will be sent down to Memphis. Here's some reaction from Ludwick. |
