More bad news for the Cardinals

Posted Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at 3:44 PM

Yadier Molina hits the disabled list with a fractured wrist after being struck with a foul ball last night.

Expect to see a lot of Gary Bennett. Minor league catcher Brian Esposito takes Molina's spot on the roster.

The Cardinals recently released Eli Marrero.

Molina is expected to be out four to six weeks.

Meanwhile, the new issue of Sports Illustrated has a lengthy feature on manager Tony La Russa. You can read it here.

Matt Leach at MLB.com describes it this way.

The article delves into several areas of the manager's personal life not previously visited in public, most notably his first marriage and his relationship with his two daughters from that marriage.

La Russa acknowledged he wasn't thrilled to be the subject of a story of such a nature, but had no complaints regarding its accuracy.

"There's a lot of stuff there that's going to make me very uncomfortable," he said. "It's not a real good day. A lot of private stuff. It's not the attention that you want. But I didn't see anything in there I thought was dishonest.
