Will Carroll, Baseball Prospectus' injury guru, says that Glaus' foot surgery was relatively minor. Essentially a nerve was moved to lessen pain in his foot from the plantar fasciitis. He thinks Glaus' health prospects are reasonably good for the next two years.

He believes one reason the Jays made the deal is that they watched Glaus overcome shoulder injuries similar to Rolen's and believe there is reasonable chance Rolen can do the same. Carroll expects Rolen to have more shoulder issues in the future.

I'm sure some people are saying, "Why can't we get a decent pitcher for Rolen?"

Those people seem to forget that we would not have a 3rd basemen if/when we get rid of Rolen.

I hope the deal goes through...both guys need a new start at a promising club.

A good trade on the face of it, but then again if Rolens medical records check out good enough for the deal to go through then he is a much better bet to bounce back that I would have previously guessed.

The Cardinals seem to lust after ex-Anaheim Angels, particularly the 2002 World Series version(Eckstein, Spezio, Kennedy, Percival, O. Palmeiro). If only Eckstein had been resigned we could have reassembled their entire infield with the addition of Glaus.
