What a day. LaRussa retires and Albert becomes a free agent but not to worry, Mo might pull a rabbit out of a hat. I would like to see Oquendo get a shot at managing the Cards but I don't think it will happen. Teri Francona is sitting there praying for the Cards to call and Mo is praying he will be the next manager. After Albert entertains various offers, the Cards have no choice but to match or better their position. So, in the end, welcome Albert back and your new manager is Teri Francona.

I would put Terry Francona in the top 4 of options to be next coach of the St Louis Cardinals! I would put the list of coaching options as a large listed!

1) Jose Oquendo

2) Terry Pendleton

3) Joe Madden

4) Tery Francona

5) Ryne Sandberg

6) Joe Torre

7) Bobby Valentine

8) Mark McGwire (LONG SHOT)

I actually put these in order of what I think Mo will choose from for our next manager. I think Pujols has a great relationship with Jose Oquendo and don't doubt his hiring would help in saving the Cardinals from losing Pujols!

Just my opinion of what STL will do over the next week. They will want a manager in place while talking offers with Pujols or they may just ask Albert who he wants to coach him next season and hire that guy!
