Three Rivers vs. Mineral Area
Posted by drawmules on Sat, Jan 9, 2010, at 2:28 PM:

This is a huge conference game for the Raiders. It is my understanding several players could be unavailable for tonight's game. I will be in attendance tonight if the shootout at Cape Central is over before 6 p.m. Any thoughts on the game? Bring your phones and discuss the game with me tonight. Even if I am unable to make it to the game I will be listening to the game on the radio. I think it will be a close game.

Almost to Poplar Bluff. The game will be broadcasted on 97.5 if you are unable to attend. The game is also available online but I don't know the website. I will also post updates if it people comment back. I am unsure how many semoball.com visitors are interested in the Raiders but this is a really big game tonight.

Out of all the people in Bess Activity Center I know some of you have phones. This is the largest crowd I have seen this year.

Three Rivers leads Mineral Area 44-24 at halftime.

Interesting note: The public address announcer asked the Raider fans to welcome Raider recruit Bobby Hatchett. I'm curious what the chances are that the Raiders sign this recruit. Any thoughts?

Any thoughts?

Wow, I thought 3R would beat Mineral, but I didn't think it would be this big a win. And the Hatchett thing is huge for 3R if it pans out. I think it would smarter for him to go and join Bess instead of going to SEMO. But if Im Hatchett (which Im not) I would go to either go to SIUC or Missouri St. (that is if they are recruiting him) or the biggest school that is.

This article, written by John Unterreiner, may help you gather a better understanding of Hatchett's plans after high school. Here is the link to the article http://www.semissourian.com/story/159892...

Hatchett's grades will prohibit him from D-1 right away. Same with Thomas. Shame too, but I am sure those same D-1 schools will still want them in two years after Bess makes a man out of him. Grades as well as athleticism.

If Scc cared as much about achedemics as they did about the Basketball program there would be alot more kids going beyond JUCO and to college period.

Any thoughts on the Three Rivers / Mineral Area game?

Interests Me..... That is a pretty crappy thing to say about kids you don't know. I know for a fact over 50% of the kids from the last two years are still in college. Sending kids to college to play basketball is not the driving factor of HS sports in general. You have to remember not everyone can afford college and you don't need a college education to be a productive member of society. Most of SCC's kids are not college type athletes anyway. The biggest part of SCC players are kids with average to above average athletic ability who play with pride and focus. I played a few years of college basketball then quit after a few years because it was just not fun but I did finish college. Take a look at TRCC's media guide and you will see that SCC has just as many All-American's for TRCC as anyone. SCC has a very high % of kids who have gone on to become career military and defend this country with honor but I guess that is not good enough for you. I know for a fact that 50% of the ball playing seniors that I graduated with finished college how does that rank with the national average?
