Jared Walker - sophmore from Chaffee. Started as a freshman last year at 3B, then moved to 2B but should be the SS this year. Has amazing ability to read the ball and very soft hands. And he can hit. Batted over .350 as a freshman last year. Watch him over the next few years.
Daniel Dooley - junior from Chaffee. Played CF and did not make an error all year. Made several diving catches and has an above average arm.

Nick Morrison- he's a junior at Holcomb made maybe 5-10 errors in all his games at shortstop including fall seasons. Also hits in the high .300's. He makes amazing plays look simple.

Not bashing the kid, but im sure there are many superior fielders in the area than Nick Morrison.

I'd have to with dwight

I'm sure there are but in this area 5 errors in 6 seasons is pretty good.

The only knock on Nick Morrison is his arm strength, it's average at best. He does have a pretty good glove, even though it's not fundamentally sound, it gets the job done.

Christian Caveness a junior from central. Reads the ball extremely well, great speed, and a cannon. Plays cf like colby rasmus.

Well for one, I'd say his bat is a weakness as well. And for another, he isn't even Holcomb's shortstop now. So if he's not even Holcomb's best option at shortstop, I'm not sure how he's one of the best infielders in the area. Seems like a bit of an insult to the rest of his team. Just my opinion though.

Smo what do you think of Joe Campbell?
-- Posted by Hornets on Mon, Feb 21, 2011, at 1:26 PM
I second that on cavaness... Dudes a player.. He can swing as well as his defense
-- Posted by CHSbaseball on Mon, Feb 21, 2011, at 4:12 PM
Rocky09 it's not a knock on the rest of the Holcomb team, far as I know he is still holcomb's shortstop. I do not know why he did not play this fall, but he will be playing this spring. If not at short he will be second.

Why don't you start a thread titled "best fielders on Holcomb" because basically that's all you have done is get on here and post about one team.

I was waiting for you to do that. Guess you don't read cause I asked what people thought of Joe Campbell.
-- Posted by Hornets on Tue, Feb 22, 2011, at 12:11 PM
I didn't realize I was worth waiting for...you are right though, I skimmed the thread and didn't realize you were the person who mentioned Joe Campbell. Having said that there is a heavy leaning toward the color purple (not the movie) on this thread and that is undeniable.

Ok who do you think has the best glove? And I only mentioned one player from Holcomb.
-- Posted by Hornets on Tue, Feb 22, 2011, at 12:21 PM
that short kid from cooter...a lot of range for no taller than he is... and I saw him lay out and make an unbelievable catch in the outfield.

Tyler thornton? I'm guessing. He is a pretty good fielder. He's not to good swinging the stick but he can bunt anywhere you tell him too. This opinion is only based on 1 time seeing him.

Heavily leaned towards Holcomb? Ive only seen one player from Holcomb named here.

Andy Lack or Cameron Wallace?
-- Posted by Tell 'em on Tue, Feb 22, 2011, at 11:29 PM
A player whose defense has always impressed me is the Watkins kid from Cooter. He is a tall lanky shortstop that has good range and a quick accurate arm, he also is very smart and pays attention to what pitch is being called and adjusts his postioning accordingly. Don't see him as a "web gem" maker, but from what I seem he makes all the plays he needs to make on a routine basis.

Andy Lack and Cameron Wallace are both good. Aren't they signed d1?
-- Posted by Hornets on Wed, Feb 23, 2011, at 4:52 PM
Andy Lack is going to semo for middle infield. Neil johnson should be mentioned in this thread also considering he is going to three rivers for outfield.
-- Posted by BB-BORE on Wed, Feb 23, 2011, at 6:45 PM
And Neil has probably one of the strongest arms you'll find in high school.
-- Posted by deadred on Wed, Feb 23, 2011, at 7:48 PM
Where is Neil from?
-- Posted by Hornets on Thu, Feb 24, 2011, at 12:19 PM
Neil lives in Marble Hill and attends Woodland HS. He's signed to play baseball at Three Rivers next year as an OF/P.

He must be good. They have a pretty good ball club.
