Yes, Zach sustained a broken bone in his left wrist/hand VS Hayti Wed night. He will be out for approximately 6 weeks. He sees a bone specialist on Tuesday, we will know more at that time. Knowing Zach, he will keep his right arm in shape and ready to go. He's a very good athlete and will have himself ready to play the last month.

Coach if you dont mind me asking thats a big whole losing him almost the whole season in leadership and in preformence do you have any ideas on who will fill that whole ?

There's no doubt losing a player the caliber of Zack hurts your squad. Being the only senior, he's been there and done that, almost a .500 hitter the past 2 years, last spring and fall he had a fielding/throwing pct of 87 % at shortstop which is the best SS we've had at Cooter. We will struggle at SS when Anderson throws, we have a couple of 10th graders that will step in and play. Anderson is solid and will play SS when he doesn't pitch as he would have when Zack pitched.

Zach should be back by mid April which gives him 10 games before district. His arm should be solid, his hitting and defense will naturally be down somewhat, but still average and hopefully he'll make it all the way back before district.

Other news is that Chase Walker (a Jr.) will be back in a few weeks, Chase is an excellent fielder, can play SS or 2B, pitch some, and is very solid at the plate. He's been out for a year and half with some hip problems but should be back at full strength by April 1. He's part of the solid Jr. Class that we have. Next year we should have at least 5 to 6 seniors in the line up which gives you the experience to compete against the good teams.

It's going to be a challenge til we get those players at full strength. We will struggle with our record early, but as I've always told the players, it's not where you start, it's where you finish.
