High School Baseball Forum: Week of Mar. 28 Baseball Scores

Posted by Dustin Ward on Mon, Mar 28, 2011, at 3:44 PM:

I'll post scores on this thread as the week progresses. The only thing that will prevent me from attending a game every day this week, including Saturday, is Mother Nature.

I would assume he was on a pitch count because he was in a bit of a jam but still throwing well when he was removed... I believe it was the 5th inning...

    -- Posted by Harry_Callahan on Wed, Mar 30, 2011, at 7:39 AM
  • I posted this in the other thread and it's in my story, but Oak Ridge had Thomas on a pitch count.

  • Pitch counts are overrated - has more to do with individual kid and situation. Kids don't throw enough these days and aren't prepared the right way.

  • Jackson JV Beats Cape Central 25-0

-- Posted by JBB on Wed, Mar 30, 2011, at 9:33 AM
  • Pitch counts are great for younger kids. For HS kids, especially Jrs and Srs, it's all about the individual and their body and what pitches they throw. Some kids have been throwing off the mound for 2-3 months and were already up to 60-70 pitches anyway. I think that today, young kids throw too much and as they get older, they don't throw enough to build strength and endurance.

  • Great Point, long toss and stretching!

    -- Posted by knockahoma29 on Wed, Mar 30, 2011, at 10:52 AM
  • Pitch counts do not guarantee to help a kid stay injury free, but for the first couple outings, when you are still tuning up the mechanics, it seems wise to limit them somewhat. The last post is right on about long toss and exercising for strength and endurance.

-- Posted by sherlockholmes on Wed, Mar 30, 2011, at 8:15 PM
  • Is Windsor a good team? Realizing it is very early in season that is probably a bad question. But it seems Jackson isn't exactly setting the world on fire. I expected more from them.

  • Oran's on a roll. Have they won all their games by 10+ runs so far?

-- Posted by deadred on Thu, Mar 31, 2011, at 9:01 PM
  • Yes deadred, they're showing good signs right now. Swinging the bats well. Moore collected a leadoff homerun and Heuring later added a grandslam today. They got a lot stronger in the offseason.

-- Posted by Uncle Charlie on Thu, Mar 31, 2011, at 9:15 PM
  • If their pitching can hold out, and improve, they should be able to make another deep run in the playoffs. What pitching do they have behind Moore and Chasteen?

-- Posted by deadred on Thu, Mar 31, 2011, at 9:21 PM
  • Elfrink and Hency are probably the 3, 4.

    Please explain.

    -- Posted by pmstewert420 on Fri, Apr 1, 2011, at 12:13 AM
  • I thought Chaffee played unbelievably well last night. Also, consider our cleanup hitter was at a track meet and also our number 2 hitter is out with a labrum tear.. So last night they had a freshman catcher, first baseman, left fielder, and dh. and another freshman came in to do some courtesy running. I wish we were big enough to play 9 upper classman but boy does this help out the future teams as well.

Senath, Malden, Charleston, Clearwater, Chaffee, Valle Catholic, Crystal City

  • At Cooter

    Cooter 2 Rivercrest 1 (8 inns.)

    Twin Rivers 10 Rivercrest 0 (5 inns.)

    J.V. Twin Rivers 6 Cooter 4

Great day for baseball. Cooter-Rivercrest was dominaated by pitchers. Zach Watkins went the 1st 4 allowing no runs. Jordan Anderson went the last 4 allowing 1 unearned but earned the win. Rivercrests played extremely well against the Wildats.

Game 2 Twin Rivers-Rivercrest was dominated by the Royals as they pounded the ball and took adavantage of some Colts miscues.

The T.R./Cooter J.V. game went down to the wire with the Royals scoring 2 in the 7th for the win.

    Cooter 2 - Rivercrest, AR 1 (8 innings)

    Twin Rivers 10 - Rivercrest, AR 0 (5 innings)

Cooter JV 4 - Twin Rivers JV 6

Beautiful day for baseball. TR looked very strong, they impressed me. I would have liked to see their varsity play cooter's varsity.
