Here we go. I'm heading to Naylor.
Jordan Anderson will start for Cooter. Dalton Elfrink for Oran.
Lance Rohde warming up for Oak Ridge for its Class 1 sectional against Naylor.
Looks like Travis Pierce warming up for Naylor. I think both of these pitchers would be considered their team's No. 2.
Winner here gets Cooter-Oran winner for a trip to the final four.
Think I might have gotten Naylor pitcher wrong. Will update when I'm sure.
Taylor Davis is the starter for Naylor. Apologies.

Twin Rivers @ Valle Catholic Wednesday. Awesome job TR!
WALKAMANIA!!! Twin Rivers 2 Greenville 1 ... How about them Royals
Congrats TR. Good luck vs Valle
A great game by both teams...Congrats TR Royals!
Saw that Iran won today. Just when you think you got them down.
I'm betting Israel wins the final battle though!
Congrats to all Winners!
TR leaves all of Wayne County in disbelief!!
Congrats Coach Walk and Royals. Been a heck of a year for you guys. Good luck in the quarterfinals. Very deserving bunch of kids. Congrats to Greenville and Coach Hill on a heck of a year.
Congrats to all winners today and good luck the rest of the way.
My phone automatically changes the spelling of Oran to Iran every time I type it. So I have to change it back every time before I post.
I was just kidding with you. We all knew what you meant!
I'm settling in for Cape Central vs. Festus. Chase Hagerty warmin up for Central.
Central is playing at Festus but is the home team on the scoreboard.
Hagerty allows a hit but no runs in the top of the first. 0-0
Central gets two runs in the bottom of the first to go up 2-0.
No score for Festus in the top of the second. 2-0 Cape Central.
No score between Kennett and Park Hills Central heading to the bottom of the first. Kennett home team on scoreboard.
Central adds four runs in the bottom of the second with the help of five hits and a key error. 6-0 Central after two.
No score between Kennett and Park Hills after one inning.
Festus gets two runs in the top of the third. 6-2 Central.
Central's 7-8-9 retired on three pitches in the bottom of the third. You don't see that every day.
Hagerty retires Festus' 6-7-8 almost as fast in the top of the fourth. 6-2 Central.
Another 1-2-3 inning. Central retired in the bottom of the fourth. 6-2 Central.

We have a theme. Festus retired in order in top of fifth.
And again. This time Central down quickly in order. Headed to bottom of fifth.
Park Hills Central leads Kennett 1-0 heading to the bottom of the third.
Park Hills Central leads Kennett 1-0 after three innings.
Festus with the bases loaded and one out on top of sixth. Steve Williams visiting Hagerty.
Festus gets a run on a sac fly, which was really a liner to center, but Hagerty gets a grounder back to him to end the inning. 6-3 Central headed to bottom of sixth.
1-0 Park Hills heading to the bottom of the fourth.
Adam Grantham with a solo home run. Kennett and Park Hills Central tied at one in the bottom of the fourth.
Central down in order in the bottom of sixth.
Kennett and Park Hills Central tied at one after four.
Park Hills Central leads Kennett 2-1 heading to the bottom of the fifth.
Adam Grantham with a three-run homer in the fifth. Kennett leads Park Hills Central 4-2.
Lutheran South defeats Lutheran North 4-3.
My last message was a little short, so to be clear: Cape Central defeated Festus 6-4 to advance to Class 4 quarterfinals. Central scored all six runs in the first two innings and then did not get another hit. Freshman Chase Hagerty with his third complete-game win of the postseason.
Kennett leads Park Hills Central 4-2 after six innings.
Great job Cape Central. Come on Kennett!
Unbelievable. Cape Downs Festus!!!! Go Tigers!
Kennett defeats Park Hills Central 4-2.

Notre Dame and De Soto tied 1-1 at halftime of girls soccer sectional.
Notre Dame girls soccer beat De Soto 2-1 in overtime. Next game on Saturday.
Kennett game will probably be changed to Friday.
Graduation Thursday in Kennett?
noticed most of the Class 3 sectional games were pretty close. teams must be pretty even.
Congrats to all teams on moving on. Good luck to Oran and Naylor today.
Does Naylor have any chance today?
With Woodard on the mound? A very good chance I would say.
Oran vs. Naylor should be a very good game. I think both teams will have trouble hitting the starters so, it could be a 9 inning 0-0 game and then I think Oran has the edge. If I remember correctly, Woodard pitched an inning in their last game so he only has 9 left. For Oran, Moore and Elfrink have 7 and 6 innings left I think.
They both have 6.
Both Elfrink and Moore threw under 60 pitches. I could see Elfrink possibly throwing the first three and Moore coming in for the last four. Who knows, Wood might start Ressel or let him throw some point during the game if either's pitch count gets too high.
I think both teams will put runs on the board today but yes, it will be low scoring IMO.
The Kennett-Lutheran South game has been moved to Friday at 4 p.m. to avoid a conflict with Kennett's High School graduation.
Good for kennet. Extra day of rest for grantham who threw 4 innings
someone help me understand, please. I understand th district tourny was in cape, then kennett plays park hills at their place, now we tavel to play again on the road??? Westminister is ranked 1st in the state , ND was 2nd we beat them, kennett is ranked 3rd and yet we continue to play road games? I know state rankings dont factor in the brackets but there has to be a better way. What determines who is home and who travels, dont want to complain I just want to understand it all, any help would be appreciated.
If neither team has hosted the sectional, it goes to the top or bottom of the bracket, depending on the year. Lutheran South must have played @ Lutheran North yesterday.
Even year(2012) = equals even districts host sectionals. Then this year the bottom side of the bracket hosts the quarter if neither team hosted sectional.
okay thanks that helps, I knew I could get help on here. Thanks guys
Oran and Naylor just underway. Oran is the visitor on the scoreboard. Dalton Woodard on the mound for Naylor as expected.
Oran scores a run in the top of the first on two hits a completely accidental hit in a ball that accidentally hit the bat and a wild pitch on a strike out pitch. Interesting start. Woodard ended up striking out the side. 1-0 Oran going to bottom of first. Seth Ressell on the mound.
Naylor gets a hit but nothing else in bottom of first. Woodard easily through top if second. 1-0 Oran heading to bottom of second.
Oran defense solid early.
Oran commits error in bottom of second but no damage done.
Oran gets two infield hits and a walk to load the bases, but Woodard pitches out of it. He has seven strikeouts through three innings. 1-0 Oran heading to bottom of third.
Woodard doubles in the bottom of the third but is stranded. 1-0 Oran headed to fourth.
Woodard strikes out the side in the top of the fourth.
Naylor can't do anything with a leadoff walk. 1-0 Oran heading to fifth.
Anybody have a score with TR and Valle?
Woodard pitches around a hit and a hit by pitch. 1-0 Oran heading to bottom of fifth.
Twin Rivers 1, Valle 0 after one.
Huge out at third in fifth.
No runs for Naylor in the bottom of the fifth.
Oran adds a run on a hit, stolen base and single in the top of the sixth. No outs.
No more damage done. 2-0 Oran in the bottom of the sixth.
5-1 TR Top of Third
First two Naylor batters reach on errors in bottom of sixth. Ressell goes 3-0 on next batter and is relieved by Kody Moore mid batter.
Naylor ends up with a run. You'll have to wait for all the details, but it's 2-1 Oran going to top of seventh.
Now Naylor with a couple miscues. Runners on first and second for Oran with one out.
Oran adds a run on Dalton Elfrink's single. 3-1. Still one out.
Oran gets another in on a squeeze. 4-1 going to bottom of seventh. 1-2-3 due up for Naylor.
Oran wins 4-1.
The team that ran the bases better and played better fundamental defense won the Ofan-Naylor game.
Twin Rivers 6, Valle 1 in the bottom of the 6th.
Valle wins 7-6!!
Congrats Valle and Oran, Congrats to Coach Null and Coach Walk many didnt give you guys a chance on here and you made it further than most and played your hearts out, you both have a great bunch of kids.
We (Naylor) didnt play well enough to win today. congrats to Oran and good luck! Proud of the boys. Was a heck of a run.
Big comeback for Valle Catholic.
Great Win, Oran!
Saw the Oran vs Cooter game. I believe "Elfrink got 3 hits. Another RBI against Naylor. The Kid's on a Roll!
Elfrink definitely hitting the ball well this week.
Santa Fe defeats Canton 13-4.
Oran will play Santa Fe in its state semifinal May 30 at 10 a.m.
According to the MSHSAA website, Santa Fe has a 21-1 record.
Elfrink was sticking all this week, I hope Oran wins it all, the west has owned the State title we need 1 back in SEMO. SEMO owns basketball we need to get some baseball titles now.
Elfrink hit well against cooter and also had a clutch single against naylor that scored a run but if I'm not mistaken and i very well could be but i think he struck out twice looking against naylor and also had an error that allowed a run to score. In my opinion he's just a very streaky hitter and probably the worst base runner on the team. But on a good note, on paper Elfrink is prolly the best pitcher for oran
Norwood into the Class 1 final four. It beat Weaubleau 11-1 Wednesday. Sturgeon also advances to the Class 1 final four with a 6-1 win against New Haven Wednesday.
You have played several teams as good or better than Santa Fe.
You have the Talent.
You have the Coaching.
You have all of Southeast Missouri pulling for you.
Now, Stay loose, play hard and enjoy the Journey!
Oran's biggest problem at the state level IMO is the kids nerves once they get there and not looking at each game as just another game. It seems we tend to overcome this in the 3rd place game as we have never took 4th. I'm hoping this will not be a factor this year as they have 5 starters back from last year's team that went to state and have been there before. The last time Oran went to state in back to back years was '03 and '04 and they took 2nd both times, so that's something to build off of coming into this year's state run. Regardless, they need to leave it all out on the field as Santa Fe is going to be a tough out.
As far as Elfrink, the kid has raw talent up and down the baseball field. I would love to know his average since the first of May. He has been nothing but clutch. Pitching wise, he is inconsistent at times but statistical wise, he is the best pitcher on the team right now. His defense is above average IMO. What he lacks there if anything is his mental capacity at times to know what to do. Other than that, he has been a HUGE part on this year's team.
I also honestly believe if Oran would have won a title the first two or three times they went back in the late 90s, Oran would have multiple state championships and we would not be discussing the multiple "choke" jobs.
getting to state and not winning it all...is never a choke job....it takes a lot to win there....hardwork, execution, and a lotta luck too...Good Luck Oran!!
Rumor also has it that the Eagles will be taking ground balls in the school garden down the first base line up until their departure for Springfield to help get a better feel for Meador Park's surface.
All kidding aside, MSHSAA should be ashamed and maybe stoned that they chose Meador Park to host the final four and I feel since Oran made it the past two years, I have some room to criticize the situation. That place is beyond atrocious. 30-40% of high schools across the state have a better playing surface than there and if I could prove that, I would. You can't sit there and tell me you could not find a better place to host the final four than that dump. Missouri might just be one of the few states that does host their playoffs on a field a team at the D1 level or above plays on. Thank god MSHSAA opened up their eyes and is getting moved next year.
It was at Mizzou until a few years ago, however as Mizzou got better there was a possibility for them to hold NCAA regionals at their place. Obviously they aren't going to turn down an opportunity like that because of a high school tournament. Springfield was an emergency quick fix I would assume. And honestly Hammons (MSU and Springfield Cardinals) and SLU are then only two fields in the state that are on Mizzou's level outside of Busch. Mizzou was a great place to have it though.
Aaron Wendell on the mound for Central at Rockwood Summit today.
Santa Fe having "1" loss sounds like they are due for a defeat or they played a weak schedule.
I'm sure they are a really good team, but how many close games against bigger schools have they played?
I looked at their schedule and I see no big powerhouses.
They are the team with the pressure, not Oran.
Summit with a 3-0 lead before it makes an out. Dambach already headed to warm up for Central.
Come on tigers settle down
What happened? Rachel
Dambach in after Wendel gives up second 2-run homer of inning. Still no outs. Wendel very upset as you would imagine. Summit leads 5-0.
Capes road comes to an end today...sorry
Dambach walks first batter he faces. That guy steals. Second baseman Luke Hinkebein goes to cover second and batter dribbles ball through hole he leaves. Just a brutal start.
Could not make the game today, no radio broadcast here, can anyone fill me in?
Crap!!! Come on tigers!!!!!
It's on 100.3 fm/ 1550 am
Summit gets a sac fly to go up 6-0. The Ryan Sievert overthrows third on a pick off attempt. Two runs score. Then an e-6 before the inning comes to an end with a 5-3. 8-0 after a half inning.
I'm in Kentucky thanks anyway duke

Tigers down 1-2-3 in bottom of second.
8-2 in 3rd
9-2 in 3rd...
Leadoff homer for Summit in the top of the third.
No more damage done. 9-2 Summit heading to bottom of third.
A lot of HR wind blowing out, small field,or just leaving the ball up?
9-2 end of third....
Central down in order. 9-2 after three.
Too good, Redshirt.
The wind is blowing hard here. Not sure how much it's contributing but it is contributing. It's 380 to center here, which is where both first-inning homers went out. The lines aren't marked.
Is it possible to listen to the Cape/Summit game online?
Ive got space invaders....video game trigger finger...sorry rachel lol
9-2 in 4th
No prob. Thanks for the assist. 3-4-5 batters coming up for Central in bottom of fourth.
Fhs.....prepcast has the game listed but I could not get it to work on my tablet....good luck
Me either. I'm the assistant coach for Festus and I was hoping to listen. Doesn't sound like it's going too good for Steve and the boys.
9-2 after 4 innings
No runs for Central. Matt Chism on to pitch for the Tigers.
9-2 into bttm 5th
Chism leaves two runners on base in the top of the fifth. He'll lead off for the Tigers in the bottom of the inning.
9-2 into 6th
Central down in order. Will have top of lineup next inning.
1st inning blues, sounds like nerves got the best of the tigers early, way to settle down
Bases loaded with no outs for Summit in the top of the sixth.
A double clears the bases and Summit leads 12-2.
13-2 into bttm 6th...good experience for cape
Luke Hinkebein on to pitch for Central after an RBI single.
I'm coming elizabeth!!!
Sometimes great stories don't have great endings.
9 games ago the tigers sat at the bottom of their division at 4 and 14 and were expeted by most to remain there.congrats on one hell of a run,we as fans are so proud of our boys, our coaches, and staff. Hold your heads high. GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!
Whoops. Thought the final got posted. Summit won 13-2 in six innings.
Such a heartbreaking way for such a magical Cape Central season to end.
Keep your chins raised high Tigers, nothing to be ashamed of. Be proud
Great Season Cape. You made us all proud!
What CT's record now that its all said and done?
Class 3 baseball quarterfinals:
Westminster Christian Academy defeats Mexico 11-1
Marshall defeats Logan-Rogersville 5-4
Westminster Christian Academy will play Marshall in a Class 3 state semifinal June 1 at 1 p.m. at Meador Park in Springfield, Mo.
"Westminister Christian Academy". Who would have thought another Private School advances?
Class 2. Semifinal: Valle Catholic vs Summitt Christian Academy.
Of the 15 schools in the Final Four at this point, 3 are private. If Kennett wins, it will be 3 out of 16. That doesn't seem too disproportionate to me.
Westminister is led by former Cardinals pitcher Andy Benes (asst. coach), his son Shane (soph), and Tate Matheny (sr.) (son of current Cards skipper Mike Matheny).
Tate Matheny is currently hitting .611 with 11hr 48rbi on the season.
MU-Tigers there is no room for logic and making sense at ignorant-ball.com ;)
Perkinsballer, I believe that Cape Central ended up being 12-15 on their record
No score between Kennett and Lutheran South heading to the bottom of the first.
No score between Kennett and Lutheran South after one inning.
No score between Kennett and Lutheran South after two innings.
Is the Kennett game on the radio, if so, what channel?
No score between Kennett and Lutheran South after three innings.
No score between Kennett and Lutheran South after four innings.
Lutheran South leads Kennett 2-0 heading to the bottom of the fifth.
Lutheran South leads Kennett 2-0 after five innings.
Lutheran South leads Kennett 2-1 after six innings.
Thanks Great Fun, thats crazy.
Lutheran South leads Kennett 2-1 heading to the bottom of the seventh.
Lutheran South defeats Kennett 2-1.
Great Season, Kennett!
Lets do the Numbers.
2012 Missouri Class 3
121 total teams
Roughly 15% of Class 3 Teams are Private.
50% of the teams in the Class 3 Final Four are Private.
2012 Missouri Class "2"
123 Total Teams
Roughly 11% of Class 2 Teams are Private.
50% of the teams teams in the Class 2 Final Four are Private.
Well do Class 1 and 4 then. Come on now...
One would think that one would think that Kennett's loss was heartbreaking ;)
I agree. Missouri should set a Separate "Private School" State for all schools that have "Open School Districts/No District Boundaries.
This will allow all these schools to compete on a level playing field.
My bet is: Westminister Christian Academy, who features Andy Bene's and Mike Matheny's son, would do just fine in any Classification.
Great season Kennett! On any given day.....
I agree with UFO regarding Westminster Christian Academy.
One does not have time to think about much of anything when one has to drive back from St. Louis immediately following the game.
Pulled up Westminister's website and they have "Andy Benes" listed as an assistant coach.
I believe Kennett was the best overall baseball team in Southeast Missouri this season.
However, Class 3 seems to be loaded with strong Private schools that could compete in any classification.
To Win Class 3 State, Kennett would have had to defeat "3" of these private schools. Notre Dame, Lutheran South and the Mack Daddy, Westminister.
Tall order for any Public institution that only fields home grown players from it's Limited school district.
For what it's worth, I believe Kennett fielded the #1 Public Class 3 team in the State of Missouri for 2012.
476 schools entered district play in baseball, 52 were private. Roughly 10.9%
Of the 64 district winners, 9 were private, roughly 14%. Not that big of a jump if you ask me.
Of the 16 schools in the Final Four, 4 are private, 25%.
It is what it is. I personally would hate if the privates left MSHSAA...talk about watered down. Let's give everyone a trophy.
Thank Goodness most of these private schools play in the same District, which only advances "1" team.
If these teams were spread out in separate districts across the state, They would dominate the fields in Elite 8 and Final 4 State Competition.
Class 3, District 4 features 5 Private schools with only "1" advancing.
Class 3, District 5 features 4 Private schools with only "1" advancing.
Class 2 Final 16 teams only featured three Private schools. Valle Catholic, Summit Christian Academy and Bishop LeBlond.
However, Two of these teams made it to the Final Four.
Only because, Summit Christian defeated the other Private School, Bishop LeBlond in the First Round.
Class 3 Final 16 featured three Private Schools. Lutheran South, Lutheran North and Westminister Christian Academy.
However, Two of these teams advanced to the final Four.
Only Because, Lutheran South defeated the other Private school Lutheran North in the First Round.
one would think UFO should check out the Betty Ford clinic ;)
Public Schools produce excellent athletes, however, what are the odds that a Public school produces multiple standout athletes in the same sport able to compete on the same team.
Not real good. Public Schools produce standouts every so many years in each sport. They are at the mercy of whoever happens to reside within their limited school districts. Period.
When a Public School Wins State in any team sport, it is a major Accomplishment for the team town and community.
Private schools are not at the mercy of "Defined School Districts", therefore, they routinely produce multiple standout athletes from multiple towns able to compete on the same team Every Year.
We're amazed the Private Schools do not go to State every year in every sport. Thank Goodness, they often run into each other.
With that being said. Go Oran!!!
Tough loss to swallow for Kennett. With that said my opinion the privet does not need their own league but I would put the multiplier a little higher. Lutheran South and N.D. both have about 900+ enerolment with multiplier. That's at the upper end of class three. But still you are arguing about small difference. Fact is Kennett just didn't hit. End game great season over. Proud of my Indians.
You are exactly right mule1993. Kennett didn't hit. It's baseball. It happens. I believe those two teams play 10 times Kennett wins 8. Oh well.
I think we should all get to recruit within a 25 mile radius and then you dont have to worry about Private schools. The thing is those Private schools sell themselves with winning. If you live in the Cape area or St. Louis area and your kid is good enough to play at a Private school would you send your kid anywhere else? No. If Missouri would adopt the State tournament system like Arkansas and TN. Then things would be different. Missouri State Tournament System is terrible. You have to win 6 or 7 games straight to win a state title. One bad day your done. Not in Ar. in TN.
Does Arkansas and Tennessee play the best 2 out of 3 advances each time?
If so, I like it. I agree. One game elimination doesn't always advance the best team.
I believe Public School kids can attend other Public Schools, but they have to pay the "Out of District Tuition".
That's the Rub. Many or most public school kids can not afford to pay additional fees.
This results in the Matheny's and Bennes's of the world loading up teams because: "They Can".
Coach Mathis, I hate to disagree but open enrollment could lead to a nightmare scenario for schools. There are people fighting for that and a voucher system. Both would be headaches for public schools. Take a town like Naylor for example, they produce a couple good athletes and their getting ready to go into high school and they jump ship to go play for poplar bluff. Your idea of a playoff system for district championship, sectional, etc isn't crazy but we all know that the best team does not always win the state championship. Even in double elimination tourneys I have seen the lesser team win. It is what it is. That's what I say to my athletes about the regional high school and to myself on the state tournament.
I really like the idea of "Open Enrollment". It would eliminate any reason for a Private school multiplier.
It would create some very, very good teams and some really bad teams through out the state.
However, I suspect some of the smaller schools would end up dropping several of their sports because of an inability to compete and lack of participation.
In addition, some of the Public schools with poor academic standards would be pressured to improve or close.
Do we really need 3 or 4 small schools located within 15 miles of each other anyway?
Will Oran's game be on the radio like normal? I believe they play at ten a.m. Tomorrow morning
104.1 FM, 10 A.M. start.
all the games will probably be on prepcasts as well.
I have just arrived at the state baseball tournament in Springfield, Missouri.
Glad Kennett sent you Dustin; looking forward to your updates. I have to work, and can't listen on 104.1
Didn't send me. I'm on vacation.
hows the weather
Oran loses 3-2 in 8 innings....
Big error in top of 8th by Oran
No rain yet. It will arrive soon enough.
