New State Bracket
Posted by froboy on Mon, Jul 2, 2012, at 5:23 PM:

This morning, there was a forum with completely different matchups for the senior babe state tournament. Somehow, a couple new teams are added to the tourney, and now Charleston (host team) goes from having Bluff first round to the easy side of the bracket. Don't know about you guys, but something smells a little fishy to me.

How is it determined who plays who? Is it just a random draw?

Supposedly that's how it's done

Kennett and Charleston also must win an extra game. Whoever loses that first game will also have its pitching severely tested to make it all the way back to the championship. That's what happens in a bracket with more than 8 teams.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong, the loser of the Kennett/Charleston game would need to win 7 games to come back to win the tournament. (Or is it 6)?

The number of teams coming was not certain so 2 brackets were drawn up by random draw. This morning only 8 teams were in but another was added so thd other bracket was used. No conspiracy at all was involved.

Wow, 6 of the 9 teams are from the semo area. Babe Ruth baseball in Missouri is extremely depleted. Just my thoughts.

I'll put the top sr babe ruth teams in this area up against the top sr legion teams any day.

The loser of the Kennett-Charleston game would have to win seven straight gams to win the tournament.

Interesting note: Because of the number of days the tournament will last its realistic for Friday's starting pitchers to come back on full rest and pitch the following Wednesday if their team advances to the championship.

I apologize for the confusion. I assure you I didn't cheat. I must have run out of fingers at eight which apparently screwed up the 9-team bracket. Both brackets were pulled at the same time by the assistant state commissioner in case the 9th team got in. If it smells fishy it's because I had captain d's in Paducah this weekend. I hope people still come and enjoy a great week of baseball.

I too agree nothing fishy at all--- minn has always been as fair as they get

In regards to the comment of comparing sr babe Ruth teams to legion--

That's comparing apples to oranges. Since the so-called "no boundary" rule; sr babe coaches can go out & recruit anyone they want; and most have done so bringing in some nice talent

Legion teams don't have that luxury

Should be a good tourney; look forward to some games

On any given day; anyone can beat anyone

Minn Kennett and Charleston fans still think this hole dill sticks. Just kidding. As far as the Kennett Sr Babe team, Its all Kennett Kids. The only reason Kennett is in this league is to have a guarantee amount of games.

I know all the kids on the Poplar Bluff team live within 20 minutes of PB.

Butler County is loaded with baseball talent most seasons.

A few butler county kids play down at dunklin county

Poplar Bluff is pretty much Poplar Bluff, Twin Rivers, East Carter, and Naylor.. Those all are within 25-30 minutes but the Greenville kid still has to make a haul.. He would have to drive a long way regardless of which Sr Babe team he chose.

Its prolly 25-30 min from greenville to bluff
