Posted by Kobeyashi on Sat, Dec 11, 2010, at 6:12 PM:

They play the number one team in Illinois tonight. Is anyone going? I heard the team they are playing is amazing.

Halftime 48-22 I think semoin has missed 1 shot lol

-took this from mosports. I don't have any details, other than Simeon was up 22-7 after one. I've gotta give lots of props to SCC for taking on this challenge. Sure hope Bubba gets to showcase his talent some tonight.

Heard he has 14 points.... not sure though.

Went to the game Simeon is ridiculously good. Otto held his own though. Jabari Parker on Simeon you'll be hearing about him for many years to come hard to believe he was only a sophomore. Simeon has 12 players better than anyone in the SEMO area other than Otto.

Simeon is playing on ESPN thursday

You should have seen Derek Rose play in high school. Everyone raved about his scoring ability, but I believe it's his defense that what got him to Memphis and eventually the Bulls. He averaged about 4 steals a game throughout his HS career.

Anyone notice that Simeon is ranked 13th in the nation and just spanked someone on ESPN by over 40 points...This is the school that Michael Jordan and Derrick Rose attended...a 20 point loss by a small public school to this private school powerhouse is VERY impressive...

I dont think SCC got blown out by Simeon's definition of a blow out! They won by 47! Also the ESPN announcer said and I quote "play people that are better than you, that how you get better." guess ESPN agrees with me. If you have a problem and you didn't see the game on ESPN, don't bother commenting, your opinion isn't needed

I don't know how others describe blowouts. But 24-7 after one and then 48-22 at the half seems pretty thorough to me. I'm sure it could've been as bad as they wanted. With the ESPN game, they never called off the dogs.

I don't want this to sound like I'm bashing SCC. I respect their basketball program as much as anybody's. I'm mostly just disagreeing with everything BuckMajor says. Makes me feel like everything is right with the world.

Actually simeon's JV played most of the end of the game on ESPN

I disagree.

The way Simeon played the first half in both games was pretty much the same, although I'd say they actually shot the ball better in the first half against SCC than they did tonight. They knocked down 8-9 threes against SCC that first half and might have missed 1 or 2. The second halves of each of these games were a little different but it wasn't because of Simeon.

For one, SCC didn't get as frustrated as Lew Wallace did tonight. LW's frustration allowed Simeon to continue to tack onto the lead in the second half whereas SCC continued to play with the same intensity as they always do which helped them essentially play even with Simeon the second half. Also SCC switched to a man-to-man after halftime which limited Simeon's 3pt opportunities and they also handled that halfcourt trap a lot better (20 first half turnovers compared to 8 in the second half). Don't think though that Simeon "called off the dogs". None of those "JV" players who got in the game in the 4th quarter for Simeon played against SCC. They continued to mix in their top 10 guys the entire 4th quarter and played with the same intensity. They ended the game with 4 of their starters on the floor and only let up the last 1:30 of the game when they went to a 4 corner offense to run down the clock.

Granted, even if SCC had played better in the first half they still wouldn't have gotten within 15 of Simeon. That team is just absolutely LOADED.

Very well said Crash.

No doubt it was a blowout. I didn't see the game in person, but I talked to a player for SCC. He said Simeon was tough. There shortest starter had to be 6'3". The PG was 6'4". The size difference was a big factor. They didn't scout Simeon. They stuck to their style of ball. He said they weren't scared one bit, but he admitted it was a little overwhelming when they jumped out to the big lead that quick.

My opinion is that it's good to get outside of our own little world down here, and take on a bigger challenge every once in a while. SCC could benefit from it.

They arent number nine in the nation for nothing? So what they got blown out, they probably had about 1/50 of the area to get talent from..

And did anyone catch the game after with Findley prep and yates? Findley prep isnt a school its pretty much a traveling team that gets international players and they all attend some catholic high school in nevada..
