They play the same game so sikeston can't tire kennett out, how bad will it be. I think if kennett plays to their abilities they can give sikeston a good game. not saying they can win but can make it interesting

Ktown 5150- I would have to disagree on this topic. Sikeston is a different kind of monster compared to PB,Cville, Pville.. They are on a whole other level of playing. The only team to really compete with them in this area but probably be SCC and even they would have a hard time with them. Kennett may be good and have a deep bench, but Sikeston's bench really isn't that much of a drop off from their starters so I would have to say Sikeston by 30+, and that's giving Kennett the benefit of a doubt and playing great that night.

Kennett beats bluff 9 out of 10 times after losing by 21 in the only game they played? Pretty bold statement don't you think.. Bluff has only played 2 semo games so far this season and they have the toughest overall schedule .. So their 6-8 record is a little bit misleading , I'm not saying bluff is better then Kennett but to say that they would win 9 out of 10 after losing by 21 Is kind of crazy.. Plus I was at that game too..
Sikeston by about thirty. This team is improved over last year's by a great degree because of the ability to mix in inside and outside shooting without a drop in either, something that past Sikeston teams have struggled with. Plus, the extended bench talent and depth adds another edge. From the limited action I've seen from Kennett this year, they seem to be a year older but not much wiser. So considering Sikeston won by 25 last time and in my opinion has made more improvement, I predict a 88-57 game.
Kennett has one shot since they are at home. Play the same kind of game as they did against Charleston in the District finals last year and hope that Hollifields boys are tired.We only beat Malden on the 4th by 7 and lost to Bluff by 21. Next two games are Senath and South Pem. before Sikeston.Not much of a test,and what will two blowouts prove before the 21st? We will see.
Sikeston by 25 (Giving Kennett benefit of doubt)
Charleston played with Sikeston and was beating them for a half. Then Sikeston took off. Sikeston is very good but they do rely on wearing people down and making a big run when you are tired. I just point this out because Kennett will not turn the ball over in bunches the way that Charleston did. I don't think Kennett will beat them but it will be a close game because Kennett matches up to Sikeston better. Sikeston relies on pressure, Kennett has great guard play.

I think kennett can give sikeston a very good game,they play the same style and probably have the best guard play in semo area. their bench goes 9 or 10 deep and kennett also relys on pressure and fast break points. I only saw the one game with pb, so maby not 9 out 10 times. I just know kennett did not play their style of bb that night and sikeston does so kennetts offense should be better

Kennett has very good guards, but Sikeston has GREAT guard play! Dogs by 20+. The Dogs have too many horses! And.....they will be ready.....Coach Holifield will not let the boys overlook the Indians.

Ktown, all of us heard these same rumblings last year and it led to a 25 point win for the Bulldogs. Nobody is overlooking Kennett. We are just offering our reasoning as to why we believe that Sikeston will win this game. Please offer us your in-depth analysis on how you think this game will go but repeating "Don't count them out" and "They better not overlook us" does nothing but make you sound like a broken record saying "Look at me!"
to start, I never said kennett would win. I said kennett could give sikeston a good game. all of you jumped on the kennett looses by 30 plus band wagon.thats not going to happen by the way.Kennetts bench is to deep,sikeston might out run and gun us but they are not going to tire us out because we play the same style. our defense will cause plenty of sikeston turnovers also,as will sikestons.Kennett has at least 4 guys that can bring the ball up the court just as good as any sikeston player.Last year our two best players got in foul trouble early so they had to set out while sikeston pulled away, It will be a different game on friday. kennett has 4 very fast guards, good enough to keep up with sikeston

Please name me four people on Kennett who can bring the ball up like Darryl Howard or Terry Jamison can. I know two the starting guards are close but I don't think anyone else is on that same level. Have you seen Sikeston play at all this year? Before you ask, yes, I have seen Kennett play.
ktown, ya we didn't think that they would wear us down in football either...
its all about the style of play. kennett guards are comparable to sikestons. where sikeston has the advantage may be depth. kennett can play the style as well as sikeston but the question is for how long. but kennett will be at home and responsible fans will respect that point. with this game being at kennett there is no chance that it will be a 30 point game. i would pick sikeston by 10-15.
sideline i have seen both teams play as well and caruthers and garmon are just as capable as jamison and howard. i think sikeston is the better team and kenett has struggled some but you would be foolish not to believe that kennett wont be up for this game.

I think Charleston thought they had comparable guard play to Sikeston until they actually played. The relentless pressure took its toll in the second half when the C'ton youth began to crumble under the pressure giving the Bulldogs points off of turnovers in bunches. And, once you lose your legs, your shots quit falling; against the Bulldogs, the legs do have a tendency to go on vacation during the second half.

Everybody thinks they play the same level as SCC and Sikeston till you play them.. Its just two different speeds of basketball
ball handlers, garmon,caruthers, camron wallace,and jack walls fyi no body on sikeston team is as fast as jack walls you will see. any of these guys can dribble through the pressure with very few turnovers. all four guys are as good of ballhandlers as any sikeston guy. kennett plays the same style just as good, their legs will not give out. sikeston has a better team but not by 30 plus. dexter and cvill both started chanting lets play football once they knew they were going to loose. guess what, this ain't football, i guess certain sikeston fans want to start playing that card also. This game has the potential for an upset, at the same time it has the potential for a 15 or 20 point sikeston win.I think it will be one of the best games to watch this year, that was my point when i started this thread. I know all of the sikeston fans think that they are all world and nobody can beat them unless the refs have something to do with it, if kennett pulls the upset i am sure that will also be the case.
Darryl howard is all state in track, he is the fastest basketball player in this part of the state par none, you've talked kennett up all year just like last year..

I've only seen Kennett play on the Webcast championship game against Dexter and I was not overly impressed with them. I believe they cannot hang with Sikeston either, but I don't necessarily believe some of the 30+ blowout predictors on here.
My guess is Sikeston by 17.
There is one team that has defeated Poplar Bluff this season and one that has lost to them by 21. There is one team that defeated East Poinsett while they had their D-1 recruit Ky Madden and one that lost against them while East Poinsett didn't have Madden. The team that won both of these games was Charleston, who was defeated by Sikeston by 27 at home. If Sikeston were to win like I have predicted, it wouldn't be a blowout because Kennett is a bad team, it is because Sikeston just has that type of talent. If you can win at the Jays Nest, you can win almost anywhere.
I remember all the hype this game had last year. Didnt live up to it at all. Im expecting the same this year.
Kennett will come out fired up because it is at home. I'm sure they will play well, but Sikeston will eventually pull away....by 15+. As I said before, Sikeston has too many horses. Kennett is good, but they struggled against Dexter....who got beat by Bernie (no offense to Bernie).
Kennett, however, will be a force in Class 3 district. I just don't know that much about Class 3 after district. I would guess that they have a good chance of getting back to the quarters, though....if they win their district. That goes to any team out of that district that wins.
Kennett and Sikeston will be a good game.. Only bad thing about Kennett is that they have no big man.. But hopefully they come up and come up with an upset..

I went into the semoball vault and found a few quotes that Kennett fans were throwing out last year before a game they lost by 25. This is part of the reason I made the prediction I did. They are good, but Sikeston is phenomenal. And before anyone throws out the "I hope the Sikeston players are just as 'overconfident' as the fans" I will just say that anyone who knows them know they come into every game expecting to play against a potential state champ. They never take a game off.

I hope the refs let both teams play and dont call the tic tac fouls. let them run and see what happens, I think that is kennetts best chance,don't try to slow sikeston down, just go all out, If our guys can hit the open shots we have a slim chance for an upset, if they miss wide open shots all night like they did against p-bluff it will be a blowout.
I also hope the weather doesnt mess this game up and cause it to get canceled.

Quick inquiry I just thought of for the Kennett fans: how does Charleston defeat a team like East Poinsett, Arkansas who was playing with Arkansas signee Ky Madden while Kennett loses to them when Madden wasn't playing? If you can't beat East Poinsett without Madden and Charleston beat them and Sikeston beat Charleston by 27, what is with all the cockiness?

Hey Kennett fans....any word on whether or not the game will happen tomorrow night? Someone told me that Kennett got out early today and Sikeston got out around 1. I know it's only Thursday.....just curious. I have a sneaking suspicion that Sikeston will be in school tomorrow.

It would really suck for this game to get called off a day before its played. I totally understand though, safety is first. I just really have to know if Kennett can back up all that talk that has been going on these forums. Personally, I'm looking for a close game at half, but that 2nd half, IHMO, Sikeston will pull away

Sikeston-Kennett game will be cancelled. Sikeston schools got called off for tomorrow and Sikeston doesn't play on days they dont have school due to weather.

You know what is funny? The Kennett fans are talking more smack than the Sikeston fans but assume the Sikeston fans are just looking at Kennett as just another small school. I've seen both of these teams play multiple times and I know Kennett is talented. I give them their props. However, the fans who want to create this "us against the world" and "everybody is underestimating us" mentality are going to be in for a rude awakening tonight. If you haven't seen Sikeston, you don't know what you are walking into.

Coach Hollifield is a very respectful coach and always prepare them to go into a 4 quarter battle, obviously he's not camera or tell a reporter "oh yeah expect a 50 point blowout" he is a classy coach, and a humble winner

Worst officiating crew I have seen in some time for both sides. Kennett said they wanted speed, they got it. They are going to need the zebra crew to give them a lift if they want to come back in the second half.

no but i was setting one row down from him all he said was the refs need a better second half and they kicked him out. sikeston played good, kennett played good . I was hoping for a closer game if we lost but guess we will worry about charleston next friday. hard to judge a 25 point loss vs 27 point loss. should be a pretty evenly matched game.
Kennett you were fast and at first it was a pretty good game but closer to the end it was a little rough playing,thought I was watching football instead of bball.
Always like to take a radio to the game and listen to the local broadcast and the two announcers for the Kennett station need to get a license to ref. Don't think a call all night was right according to them.

I was very impressed with Sikeston. Quick hands and they run the floor hard after they steal that ball. Very impressive for sure. I thought Kennett caught some breaks and did get some calls especially early when it looked like Sikeston was going to blow them right out of the gym. But give Kennett credit. They kept it interesting for about two and a half quarters, similar to Charleston. I'd say those two teams are neck and neck for the best team in Class 3. Sikeston is head and shoulders above everybody else in Class 4.
I'm not usually the one to complain about reffing, but that was nothing less then ridiculous, i wish i could say they were terrible to both sides, but idk how many times we were fouled down low, how many tic tac fouls were called, and how many travels were missed..
They couldn't keep up with the game, as for kennett garmon was good, idk about a top D1 prospect, but he was good, as for caurthers if he's not a senior he'll improve
several over the backs and a few charges from porter didnt get called, but that wouldnt have made 25 point difference. im sure there were no calls on kennett also. kennett will have a good chance against charleston, should be a good game. you tend to notice the calls that dont go your way, im not blaming the refs.

He dominated the paint and proved how athletic he was, i seen a few calls on us that should have been called but i seen garmon travel about 5 times that werent called and idk how many smacks i heard from the kennett players that werent called either.. But like you said wouldn't have made a difference
You have to give it to Sikeston players for going into Charleston,Farmington and Kennett and coming home with three impressive wins.
The thing that was getting me was the two-hand shoves in the back by the Kennett players when Sikeston would jump up for a rebound. It was comical at times. The 30 minute halftime kept this game from being a turbo clock situation. It allowed Kennett to get much needed rest. As Sikeston always does, they were pulling away with each passing second in the fourth quarter. I was a little surprised that Kennett was trying to slow the game down, especially after they were down 20. I guess they didn't think they could run with Sikeston or they were trying to keep it from being a total blowout.
Corey Porter, as usual, proves his doubters wrong.
As for Kennett and Charleston. That's tough, but I might give Charleston a slight edge.
we will see next friday about charleston, sikeston had plenty of no calls go their way, it wasnt one sided at all. when you lower your shoulder and knock our guy 5 feet away of cours your going to dominate down low, he should have had at least 3 charges called that wasnt. no turboclock will not happen all year. sikeston is very good and i hope they win state in their class.

The train keeps rolling, picking up fans along the way. What's weird is how every team they play has a "D1" recruit, and they just keep on hammering. The Bulldogs just keep on proving team over individual. Even Hansbrough had some support. This Bulldog team is a complete package and is hell bent on taking on every challenge like its their last. They haven't lost but a handful plus a couple in their career, and they have the mentality of not losing any more. Kudos to Coach Holifield and the team for the excitement they have brought to the town and the school.
Remember last year: Kennett came to Charleston during the regular season and Charleston beat them by double digits; District championship was at Kennett and Kennett beat Charleston similarly. So, stands to reason that since the two teams are so close in talent, Kennett would have the advantage being that the regular season game is in Kennett. But, if Kennett should win that game, the district tourney will be on a neutral court which will make for a very interesting game.
Another possible factor for the district tourney: last year, Charleston had to go through NMCC in the semifinal before reaching Kennett in the final; if Kennett wins the regular season game, they'll probably get the #1 seed which would force Charleston to go through C'ville in the semifinals. Playing teams back-to-back of that caliber and style could drain a team and will be a detriment to whichever team has to play C'ville (assuming that team gets by C'ville).

Last night I agree the refs were horrible both ways. Not one way more than the other. However, how bout them BULLDOGS!?!?!?!? Kennett fans we tried to warn you guys, you cannot keep up for 4 quarters. Every team against Sikeston will make a run in the first half and might even have a small lead....but you cannot keep up that kind of game for 32 mins.
Again I think that Sikeston will have some close games but this team is the real deal....cannot see them losing anytime soon. Might not even lose again till maybe a game this time next year.

Porter in my opinion is bball smart.He knows when and where to pass off to others and he knows when to shoot.He usually hits alot of his shots.I'm impressed with him.Was a big fan of Michaels and now I'm a big fan of Coreys.

Seeing kennett play against several other teams this year really makes me think that kennett fans have no room to be talkin about teams playn rough. Porter may have had the softest touch ive ever seen for somebody his size
People seem to forget that he is still a Porter just like Michael, Isaac, and Otto. He's been playing against top talent since he was born. He just also happens to be a Porter with football skills.
I had never seen him play before until last night but he was very impresseive. But of course if u have the last name porter what do u expect, they can all play
