Charleston has their hands full against a Kelly Hawk team, who will be looking for an upset against the Bluejays. Charleston is a clear favorite, but game like these are not easy because a team like Kelly has nothing to loose and everything to gain. So, this is a measuring stick to see if the Jays are focused.
I honestly don't see the Jays having any problem whatsoever with Kelly. Ctown by 25+
I see a turbo clock in the Jay's future.
This game sounds about as competitive as Sikeston-Ste. Genevieve or a first round Christmas tournament game.
It hasn't been that long ago when Kelly would give Charleston all they could handle. Don't kick a man or school when they are down.
Can anyone say hyperbole? I guess we haven't been giving Charleston enough love.
Kelly has some Competitive Kids. With that being said, Charleston by Continuous Clock.
Kelly is not a boys basketball school. They have won their district around 6 times since they were incorporated in the late 1950's, around 1 every ten years. They have never been to the state tournament, and have put state quality teams on the floor maybe 10 times in those 50+ years. Don't know why people think we should be good...
We'll turn the tide in football though!
I heard all of Kelly's best players end up at Notre Dame, is that true?
There has been a shift in where the students from the north end of the county go. Many of the students from the Catholic school, and from Kelso C-7 used to go to Kelly. Many now are going to Oran, Scott City, and Notre Dame. If all of those had gone to Kelly, they would be more competitive in all of the sports, although I don't think they would consistantly be 20 game winners in boys basketball.
Charleston by 50... starters play no more than 12 minutes
I don't understand, why is this suppose to be a big game???
I graduated from Kelly in 1986. Back in the late seventies and all through my day, the Hawks fielded very competitive teams every year. Although my memory may be faulty, I can't remember Kelly ever being lower than an 8 seed at the X-Mas Tourney back then. I think Kelly's program has really been hurt by a series of poor coaches over the last decade. Lack of coaching stability really hurts a program. I really hope my alma mater can turn it around soon and also field a decent football team.
Oh and Charleston will beat Kelly by at least 40 pts.
