I just copyied and pasted this off the other website. It's nothing I put on there if that's what your meaning.

  • Ronnie1, I was wondering the same thing.

As I said, it's nothing I put so it's not a conspiracy or anything. I just used a copy and paste and that's what got posted.

  • Yeah, that kind of crazy stuff happens sometimes when you cut and paste Cheesehead. It will be interesting to see if these pre-season rankings hold up over the course of the regular season. Nice to see so many Semo teams getting some respect though.

  • Cool, 2nd state title in 3yrs for reddawgz!! Haha preseason polls are the kiss of death. But interesting nonetheless. Scc was middle of the pack lasyear and nobody got closer to them than 20pts in their state run.

  • Polls are just for fun, but they're not always wrong. Sikeston was wire-to-wire No. 1 in 2011. Soldan was wire-to-wire No. 1 last year. Charleston may have been wire-to-wire No. 1 last year. Scott Central was wire-to-wire No. 1 for three of Otto's years. So it's not at all a kiss of death.

  • Yup semo im keepn fingers crossed!! I think jays and braves gonna repeat. Dawgz gonna hafta develop some chemistry if they wanna go far.

    -- Posted by cirithungol17 on Tue, Nov 20, 2012, at 12:22 PM
  • cirithungol17....the Dogs have been developing chemistry since the end of last season. They play as a group beginning about late March or early April (depending when the season ends....hopefully late March) all the way through June and into July. Coach Holifield and his staff do a remarkable job getting the kids prepared.

  • Oh im fully aware of what ur saying rocket! But chemistry is not all about coaching, it comes from within each player. I cant explain it but i know the best coach in the world sometimes cant get a team to gel to its full potential. An example is this years fbawl dogs, they never did gel despite the coaches best efforts im sure.

    -- Posted by cirithungol17 on Tue, Nov 20, 2012, at 1:07 PM
  • I think the football team gelled fine. Sometimes it comes down to sheer talent. Sikeston had one too many injuries to overcome. Losing Spenser Clark was a killer (top receiver, d-back, and return man). With him in the lineup, they likely could have finished 13-1 as ridiculous as that sounds that one player can make that big a difference. But it's what I believe.

Congrats to all the SEMO basketball teams getting the preseason respect especially Sikeston. I was surprised a couple more area teams didn't sneak into the Class 1 rankings.

  • Now that you mention it Sideline, it is surprising that neither Leopold or Risco got any consideration in Class 1.

-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Tue, Nov 20, 2012, at 2:18 PM
  • Good points semo, but i felt the offense was outta sync all year. Some of our best plays were busted plays!! Oh well, on to bball for now, 1 more week yahoooo!!

It'll all shake out as the season goes on. I wouldn't be shocked if Leopold, Risco, and maybe Oak Ridge all were in the votes sooner rather than later.

Also, if Portageville, Bernie, Oran, Hayti, and Thayer all got votes in Class 2, I'm a little surprised that Holcomb didn't get votes as well. Not that I think they are much better than any of those other teams but I think they are just as much in the mix.

Classes 3, 4, and 5 all seem ok for now though.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Tue, Nov 20, 2012, at 2:25 PM
  • I would have to agree with Sideline that it will all work out on it's on throughout the season, but pre-season is sure fun to discuss.

    -- Posted by sm0723 on Tue, Nov 20, 2012, at 2:29 PM
  • Agreed Sideline. Class 2 in Semo is going to be very exciting and competitive this year.

Class 1, 2, and 4 should all be fun in SEMO this year. Class 3 could be really interesting as well.

Thanks Sideline. So, now that you have answered my first question, here is my follow up Q. Who is Frank Staples??

-- Posted by Jolly Dump on Tue, Nov 20, 2012, at 5:24 PM

He was the assistant coach at SCC for at least the last couple of years I think.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Tue, Nov 20, 2012, at 5:26 PM
  • Oran is ranked very high.

-- Posted by Dustin Ward on Wed, Nov 21, 2012, at 5:01 AM
  • I'm kind of surprised at Sikeston being ranked at #1. I knew they'd be pretty good but thought that they might be a little down this year. Can't wait till Nov. 27th.

  • Class 3 watch out for Lutheran North, and how the hell is Ritter not in this?

-- Posted by stlscott on Wed, Nov 21, 2012, at 5:55 AM
  • Luth North will be a tough. If the kids by in to this new system watch out. Anthony "Butch " Hall will bring that bootheel style basketball to stl. Coach Hall played at Semo in the 80s. Ritter will be fine as well. I think the lost of Cam has people wondering. Trust me Neals will have them in there before midseason.

  • CHS2MRH, what do you know of this st louis christian team? Gotta be honest they are pretty dog gone good, I watched them play this weekend .

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Nov 25, 2012, at 9:54 AM
  • And MRH is a given that they are good every year.

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Nov 25, 2012, at 9:55 AM
  • They are very talented and super athletic. Coach k is putting together a team to compete nationally with the other well known prep schools across the country. He has players from a lil bit if everywhere coming in. They are a mshsaa affiliate only. They will not try to become a mshsaa team in the future. I have had the pleasure of training a few players and look forward to seeing them progress. They will be hard to beat.

    -- Posted by CHS2MRH on Sun, Nov 25, 2012, at 12:24 PM
  • As far as MRH. We are progressing from the football injuries. We will fall into shape by mid December. Good luck to all this season.
