  • i think it will come down to tempo. Central can not allow this game to go up and down the court all day charleston depth will beat them. And as always if you turn the ball over against charleston your in for a rough night

    -- Posted by cape222 on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 11:27 AM
  • Central needs to get off to a fast start. Obviously, 13-0 like last night isn't likely, but an early lead would be huge. I don't think a fast paced game would be detrimental to Cape. They're in shape and have the athletes to do it. I don't think they could keep it up all game, but constant fast breaks just doesn't happen. Central will have to take advantage of the post play in this. I'd also like to see Al Young take some shots from outside; he's got a very smooth jumper and just doesn't use it.

  • 7-6 Cape parham just airballed a free throw, man Ive never seen teams that cannot shoot free throws at all been like that all week.

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 6:46 PM
  • 11-10 Cape, I have to say this is first time I have seen Cape, man if and this is a huge if, all these guys actually stay there they are going to be reallly good.

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 6:50 PM

  • If Scott is here I will let him

-- Posted by TFA on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 6:54 PM
  • 15-10 Cape but they cannot make free throws.

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 6:56 PM
  • FTs can hurt you in close games in the end if your not making them. Hopefully they can force enough turnovers to overcome that short coming.

    -- Posted by CHS2MRH on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 6:58 PM
  • Charleston as you know pressures the ball constantly, but I just dont see them in the same light as your ballclub or Madison, just my opinion.

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 6:58 PM
  • 16 all

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 7:02 PM
  • Cape is going to lose this game because they cant make free throws, plus Jamal cox has 3 fouls and no points, I smell this getting ugly fast.

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 7:05 PM
  • 25-19 Chas

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 7:07 PM
  • I found the live stream. Yeah Cox has to get touches inside. FTs are not looking good. Class 3 playoffs will be one to watch.

    -- Posted by CHS2MRH on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 7:11 PM
  • 29-20 Charleston

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 7:11 PM
  • Class 3 is alot stronger than class 4 IMO.

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 7:12 PM
  • Top two teams in class 4 are sikeston and duchesne. Looking forward to second half of the season. Should be fun.

    -- Posted by CHS2MRH on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 7:16 PM
  • Yea Im gonna come down for the Sikeston game, looking forward to that, I still say the schedule you guys play will make a big difference, you have played alot of Sikestons already this year.

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 7:19 PM
  • I havent seen Deuchesne but was told they are a reall good squad.

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 7:24 PM
  • Hazel wood Central 29 Cbc 21

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 7:38 PM
  • Yeah. Our schedule was put together to test us and prepare for the run.

    -- Posted by CHS2MRH on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 7:39 PM
  • I like that, and it will work when it counts against teams that play alot of cupcakes.

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 7:44 PM
  • stl....if u are referring to sikeston....keep your cheap shots to yourself....

-- Posted by barkleyfan on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 7:59 PM
  • Lol. I hope so

    -- Posted by CHS2MRH on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 7:59 PM
  • I was Barkley I watched them last night, they arent the Sikeston of past years you got some guys that can handle the ball, and a little size, you shouldnt have a problem.

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 8:04 PM

  • Hazelwood central defeats CBC #1 team in state 59-45.

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 8:49 PM
  • Charleston won 62-42. The lead just steadily grew. Jamal Cox getting in early foul trouble and nobody for central making free throws hurt bad. To me it looked like Central was scared to shoot outside beside Garan Evans. That could just be from their inexperience though.

-- Posted by CapeAlum on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 8:59 PM
  • Central is extremely young they should have a very bright future ahead of them.

Didn't all the good Ctl players quit? Prety sure Sammy told me that.

-- Posted by quiksand on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 9:14 PM
  • I know they had a few players quit down there, seems like that always happens, not sure if it was any starters or not, seems like they have alot of young kids though.

One last thought for the the night as a side note, anybody that wastes a top 10 NBA draft pick on Otto Porter, will be kicking themselves. Not sure how he is so highly regarded, but dude is not that good. Would love to be on the "give" on what Chad Ford is smokin.

-- Posted by quiksand on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 9:24 PM
  • Jacob Boerboom and the Bagley twins quit/didn't try out, those three are all juniors and could've started. Bo, the last name escapes me, didn't try out and he is a 6'8" senior. Tim Booker the sophomore guard from last season is no longer attending Central due to off the court issues. He did have a brother or cousin on this years team that I was told is taller and possibly even better but couldn't play until semester. I don't don't know if he's still on the team or not. There is a 6'0" junior guard, last name Blackmon, that is supposed to be very good, but can't play until second semester. I've heard he's from cape, but moved away for a couple years and is now back.

-- Posted by CapeAlum on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 9:29 PM
  • I agree,I look at alot of things with him, he obviously excelled at every level he has played on, but, I beleive the Nba is the toughest league to get on that top level, I mean look at Hansbrough, that kid was arguably one of the best college players ever, and in the Nba he is averaging about 6 pts 4 rebs.

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 9:35 PM
  • Otto's skill set and style of play are more suited for the NBA. Tyler has always been strictly a post player that was bigger and stronger than most of his competition. Whereas now he is average sized at best and not quicker than anybody. Otto has the height at 6'8", ball skills, a good jumper, rebounding skill, and great court awareness. Those qualities combined make him a great prospect. I don't think it'll matter though. Knowing his dad, I think he'll tell him to stay in school for 4 years.

-- Posted by CapeAlum on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 9:43 PM
  • The staying in school for four years isnt going to happen.

-- Posted by stlscott on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 9:50 PM
  • It's not fair to say these Central kids quit the team this year. The ones mentioned, the Bagley twins and Boerboom, are multi sport athletes and generally at bigger schools after a couple of years it is not uncommon to cut down to one or two sports. Most varsity programs demand these kids' attention year around and it becomes easier to serve less masters and narrow the focus on the sport of choice.

    -- Posted by whitey11 on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 9:54 PM
  • so stl....what is your beef? One minute u are giving Sikeston props...the next u are not???? Bottom line is they are winning...Beating YOUR St louis teams......whether or not those teams meet your criteria, they are finding ways to win. If they go 30-0..u will still sit on your belief that bball is down this year..really..life long negativity.

-- Posted by barkleyfan on Sun, Dec 30, 2012, at 11:22 PM
  • If I'm not mistaken, stlscott is from sikeston and that's his tie to this area. But maybe my memory is off.

-- Posted by CapeAlum on Mon, Dec 31, 2012, at 12:19 AM
  • scott proclaimed himself as a sikeston grad with parents who attended scc.

who knows if it is true but he sure seems to have a problem with growing up in this area if that is actually true.

why? i would sure love to know.

i have been a big supporter of kids playing the sport and can't figure out why he wants to bash the kids from our area so much.

    -- Posted by JacksonTF-1000 on Mon, Dec 31, 2012, at 12:34 AM
  • Scott didn't make the team back in the day and has now found his self esteem by writing things about others.

I will say the same thing about him as I have said to many others.

Focus on the positive when talking about kids and the world will be a better place.

    -- Posted by JacksonTF-1000 on Mon, Dec 31, 2012, at 2:03 AM
  • If I was a coach at Cape Central, I would walk up and down the halls during the month of August and do what I would call "daily recruiting." There's so much unexposed talent within these bigger schools that goes undetected due to kids simply not playing or not being eligible. I would love to see a coach like David Heeb coach at Central and the players/talent he would have out on the court. Either way, the first day of second semester seems to be a holiday at Central every year.

-- Posted by Uncle Charlie on Mon, Dec 31, 2012, at 6:42 AM
  • Graduated from Sikeston? You people are delirious, Ive told you time and time again I went to Parkway Central class of 91, and by the way who cares?

  • Hey scotty, on another thread u said u were at the sike-fzs game and saw airball freethrows. I and several posters saw not one airball ft. Ur right, though inflammatory, ur opinions on anything can be aired here whether or not u have any credibility. However, when u cant even get simple facts straight, our supposition that u have little credibility becomes factual. Were u even at the game? I have my doubts.

    -- Posted by cirithungol17 on Mon, Dec 31, 2012, at 10:58 AM
  • Agreed jrob, this troll is a cancer to semoball.

    -- Posted by cirithungol17 on Mon, Dec 31, 2012, at 11:04 AM
  • Not to take up for anyone on here but I listened to the game on the radio and the announcer did state about an air ball free throw but I think it was someone on the Ft-Z team because I remember saying something to my son about it. Ok sorry to butt in

-- Posted by TFA on Mon, Dec 31, 2012, at 11:11 AM
  • No problem at all tfa. Another couple of posters who i know were at the game saw no airball ft. Perhaps the announcer was mistaken. Which leads me to believe scotty wasnt at the game, though he said he was.

I'll tell you what is also slightly annoying, to me dadscatfood comes across as a kindergarten teacher "Lets all say nice things". On 3 or 4 other threads. I don't usually ever rag on someone individually(there is one person, and I will continue to do so next football season If people blindly praise his 'talent'). I'm just tired of seeing the same comment over & over

-- Posted by BillShakespeare on Mon, Dec 31, 2012, at 12:20 PM
  • Scott gets off on jerking your chain. Just ignore him. Lots of people on here are want-a-bees - more like groupies. They are not near as smart as they see themselves. Granted everyone is entitled to an opinion - everyone has one and an a** h***. He talked the same crap last year and was dead wrong. Kids will play the game and his opinion has no relevance.

-- Posted by Swish on Mon, Dec 31, 2012, at 12:57 PM
  • Not to change the subject but quiksand said Otto wasn't that good. Dude I think you're smoking something. You obviously know nothing about basketball. The guy does all the intangibles such as rebounding, playing great defense, and dishing the ball out to his teammates for assist.

-- Posted by Gary Pinkel on Mon, Dec 31, 2012, at 2:06 PM
  • The kid from FZS did airball two free throws so please shut the hell up and go do something its nye for gods sake.

  • No airballs scotty. Ive been watching hoops for years and airball freethrows stick in my memory like gettin struck by lightning! Thats how frequently they happen. Admit u werent at the game. Cmon u can do it. Try it, itll make u feel better, I promise! You have negative credibility, so this could be the start of something positive in ur life!!

-- Posted by stlscott on Mon, Dec 31, 2012, at 5:53 PM
  • What I think is so funny is that no one knows who each other is but just assumes no one knows anything about bball if their opinion is different. There's some guys on here I'm pretty sure knows their stuff I've been reading them for years but the ones that I don't know I don't assume that they don't know anything but that's just me I guess.

-- Posted by TFA on Mon, Dec 31, 2012, at 6:00 PM
