  • That Sikeston by 30 prediction might not be far off. Kennett looks like they're on the verge of being blown out at any moment.

    -- Posted by FarmBoy06 on Tue, Feb 26, 2013, at 6:37 PM
  • Yeah it's going to be hard for them to make a come back but we will see what happens in the third period

-- Posted by ktown 5150 on Tue, Feb 26, 2013, at 6:39 PM
  • Risco's Brandon Bixler had 18 points in the first half, all in the paint, I think. Kept his team close most of the half.

-- Posted by Rachel Crader on Tue, Feb 26, 2013, at 6:41 PM
  • Risco, a team that likes to shoot outside, was 3 of 11 from 3-point range in the first half.

SCC shot 21 of 33 from the floor in the first half.

-- Posted by Rachel Crader on Tue, Feb 26, 2013, at 7:59 PM
  • That last remark sounds like something an unranked team or an underdog would say. Sikeston was ranked higher all year and beat Kennett in their only other meeting...I think we all had a pretty good idea who the better team was.

    -- Posted by FarmBoy06 on Tue, Feb 26, 2013, at 7:59 PM

  • I was at the Risco-SCC game tonight. You have to give Risco credit. They played hard, handled SCC's press for the most part, but just came up a little short. Bixler esp. was a monster inside with 31 points, all in the paint. Banks for SCC was also huge, scoring 22 points. Both these teams bring back most of their starters, so expect to see them meet up again next season in sectionals!

Congrats to SCC and good luck Saturday against Eminence. One more win away from another trip to the Final Four!

Preach, ND about had the upset last time they played. I know a lot of the ND fans I talked to were not happy with the reffing in the last contest and thought they could pull it out. We are seeing another closely fought contest this time.

PMF, I thought that when they announced the starting lineups at Bloomfield that 4 of Risco's starters were seniors. Is that incorrect?

Headhunt, Class 4 District 2 semi-finals are on Thursday. One seed Farmington faces fourth seeded Ste. Genevieve and two seed Park Hills Central faces six seed Potosi. Finals are Friday.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Tue, Feb 26, 2013, at 9:17 PM
  • Some weak team from District 2 lol. All you really need to know.

I'd be surprised to hear of many other districts having the same teams in the championship game for so many consecutive seasons. You would think that one of the two teams would have slipped somewhere along the line, switched classes, something...very fun run regardless. Cape-Sikeston just isn't very exciting.

    -- Posted by FarmBoy06 on Tue, Feb 26, 2013, at 9:18 PM
  • Pavy and Bixler are juniors, but McCord, Knight, and White are seniors.

I would assume that was their starting lineup tonight, because I wasn't able to tune into the game until almost halftime.

    -- Posted by sm0723 on Tue, Feb 26, 2013, at 9:21 PM
  • Larry, you might be right. I know Pavy is just a junior and I though Bixler and McCord were also juniors, but I might be wrong. Maybe one of the Risco faithful can straighten me out. There was no program for tonight's game for some reason.

-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Tue, Feb 26, 2013, at 9:22 PM
  • Thanks smo723. Pavy and Bixler are good kids to build around for next season. Risco played 9 or 10 kids tonight and most of them contributed, so they should be fine next year.

-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Tue, Feb 26, 2013, at 9:25 PM
  • Beating a team 4 times is very impressive...That is very difficult to do..Congrats Central

-- Posted by crackerjack on Tue, Feb 26, 2013, at 9:31 PM
  • Pavy and Bixler are juniors McCord is a senior. Josh Earnhart also is a sophomore or junior and he played very well tonight. They should have a good chance to win C1D1 for the 5th year in a row next year

    -- Posted by boxout30 on Tue, Feb 26, 2013, at 9:37 PM
  • Congrats to sikeston and cc good luck to both

Yeah Pavy and Bixler will be good. I believe Cummins is also a senior. Risco should be real good next year at least. There is a farmer in Risco that has hired a guy that has two 6'5 boys that should be playing next year. One a senior and one a junior i believe, but not 100% sure on that. Should be fun to watch!!

I was also at the SCC and Risco i agree with you preach on your take i also think if pavy would have had a good scoring game like normal they would have won that game IMO!Having said all that if you look at class one down here it looks like a whole lot like last year sectionals with the same result.IMO Eminence will beat SCC this year!

-- Posted by porchswing on Tue, Feb 26, 2013, at 10:11 PM
  • Pavy had a good game I thought. I think he scored 17 points. IMO if Knight had scored more in the paint along with Bixler's big game, Risco would have won. SCC went on a run before halftime and extended their lead to 11 points. That proved to be the difference in the game.

porchswing, Eminence might beat SCC, but right now I'll only believe it when I see it! Until someone actually beats them, Class 1 still runs through SCC!

Risco played there hearts out tonight, along with scc. But hats off to risco for fighting yet again, but losing for the 4th time must be hard, especially to the same team. But as these people have stated, they'll be in the run again next year for another shot and hopefully we can probably see these teams play again.

-- Posted by unorthodox on Tue, Feb 26, 2013, at 10:32 PM
  • Buck, if the new kids you mentioned are really that tall and have game, then look out for Risco next season! Put them on the court with Pavy, Bixler, and Earnheart and the Tigers could be scary good.

I think Pavy sat most of the first and part of the second quarter because of two fouls early i seen risco a few times this year and pavy was in the twenties both times just thought they needed that from him tonight. And i totaly understand about class 1 running through SCC have you seen Eminence this year preach they are better than SCC IMO!I am going to list my top three teams in class 1 that i have seen this year Drexel,Eminence,South Iron IMO!

-- Posted by porchswing on Tue, Feb 26, 2013, at 10:46 PM
  • porchswing, I haven't seen Eminence play this year and I expect they'll be favored to beat SCC on Saturday. But so was Leopold! There's just something about SCC come playoff time!
