I know it's way too early for this and football schools don't generally care as much right now, but I'm just curious as to any thoughts on this coming year's basketball teams in Class 2 Dist 1. The district was shaken up quite a bit with Hayti and Senath leaving, but Scott County Central coming in. South Pem is the reigning champ, Bernie returns some good juniors and is always tough, and Scott County Central...well...they're Scott County Central. Other teams include Bloomfield, Portageville, Holcomb, and Campbell (who's JV was very good last year). Sooooo...who ya got? I'll take a finals between South Pem and SCC. It'll be fun to get to see SCC play down this way a lot more often. Can't wait!

Depending on who South Pem brings back, it's SCC district to lose.

Portageville moved up a class and is now in Class 3.

SCC (barring injuries) then everybody else plays for second.

Not nearly as cut and dried as that. Scott central is the favorite. South pem has questions marks but could be real tough. Bloomfield is going to be much better and real threat and bernie is going to have a team that could possibly be as good as those teams that made runs a few years back. Early prediction is I won't be surprised if Bernie finds a way to get it done as well as seeing Bloomfield making noise if the district is there again.

Have to slow it down and run a good half-court offense to have a chance to beat Scott County Central. Bloomfield's style of play might give them the ability to keep a game with Scott County Central close. They have the potential to play a half-court game with them with their size and ball-handling ability. Plus the district might be at Bloomfield. So I might give Bloomfield the best shot to pull off such an upset.
Campbell might be a year away from serious contention. But maybe not.

That's right Semo Sports Player, my mistake. Portageville did move up. Thanks.
