Some interesting match-ups this week that will go a long way toward shedding some light on what to expect this season:
Cape vs Obion Co:
Cape had a nice win last night against Festus. How will they do against the polished passing attack of Obion? Obion has a porous defense and was completely unable to stop Sikeston's run game in week 1. I would expect a high scoring affair similar to the Sikeston v Obion.
Poplar Bluff v Savannah:
Bluff has had a huge loss to Vashon and a resounding win against NMCC. If I am correct, Bluff is traveling all the way to Webb City to take on Savannah. I don't know much about Savannah, but such a long trip won't be easy.
Kennett v Gosnell:
Typically, the AR schools have the edge over schools from SEMO. According to the Massey ratings, Gosnell holds the advantage in this one. Any "Kennettians" out there with inside info on this one?
NMCC v Farmington:
My pre-season prediction of a 3-7 campaign for NMCC this year is looking a bit generous. I could actually see the Eagles ending up 1-9 with a lone win over Charleston. I had counted on wins against Dexter and Kenett as well, but that may have been a bit optimistic. I would expect Farmington to roll in this one.
I agree the Cape-Obion game will be a shootout. Cape has a very good run game which will hurt Obion but Obion has a stud QB. If Cape can get in the backfield and keep pressure on him than they should win this game but if he gets time to find his receivers then it should be interesting to see if Cape's defensive backs can keep up.
I have no idea on the Bluff game nor the Kennett game. Farmington should run away with one against NMCC. Not even a whole lot to say about it, New Madrid is just having a down year and it seems like Farmington puts an above average squad together every year. Hopefully NMCC doesn't fall into a down slope like Cape was in the past few years.

Thoughts? What about other games?
