Here is this week's football schedule:

Class 1 District 1

Thayer at Hayti

Cabool at Portageville

Class 1 District 2

Chaffee at St. Vincent

Cleveland NJROTC vs. Valle Catholic

Class 2 District 1

East Prairie at Charleston

Malden at Caruthersville

Class 2 District 2

Scott City at Herculaneum

St. Pius X vs. Crystal City

Class 3 District 1

Kennett at Dexter

Fredericktown at NMCC

Class 4 District 1

Cape Central at Farmington

Perryville at Sikeston

Class 5 District 1

Poplar Bluff at Jackson

Rockwood Summit vs. Seckman

It would appear the games to watch this week are Cape Central at Farmington, Malden at Caruthersville and Thayer at Hayti.

Any predictions on these games or which team will win a specific district?

While everyone is consumed with Class 4 District 1 and Class 3 District 1, don't forget about Class 2 District 1-Malden v Caruthersville-this should be a good game. Cville has an explosive offense and Malden's offense is sure to drive the ball against Cville's defense. This will be a close game, but I predict that Malden's offense will keep Cville and Fonda off the field long enough to sweak this one out. Now in the other game East Prairie v Charleston. Look for total domination out of East Prairie. I'm from EP and we are looking forward to celebrating our 3rd consecutive victory over CTOWN! Connor Scott is unstopable at QB he can throw all over the field to Mikey Russell. When those two are through look for the running game to kick in. The Defense is dominent and will no doubt swollow Charleston's poor blocking and running offense. A local sports reporter told me that Charleston's Offense couldn't even score a touchdown on the EP Jr. High Football team. Charleston's lack of hustle will no doubt show on Friday night. Look for Malden and EP to make it out of District 1 and EP beating Malden in the 2nd round of the playoffs. Good luck to the Greenwave, my Eagles you don't need any luck this is just a tune up for week 9 and 10.

Wish I had your faith, also being from East Prairie there is never a moment in any county rival game where a team can "relax". While I agree the Malden/Caruthersville game will be a great game, I believe the game in Charleston will be equally close. I'm gussing the following:

East Prairie wins by a close margin less than 7

Caruthersville wins by 10.

Caruthersville will win they can't stop the run. The best game will be next well. Ep vs the tigers should be a good game. Caruthersville by 20 over malden. And I think the tigers will stop the passing of Malden.

I'm just going off of what a reporter friend told me about the Charleston Football Program- He said they don't hustle and don't care. This is his qoute exactly-"Charleston's Offense couldn't score a touchdown against the East Prairie Junior High's Defense."

Malden runs quick outs over and over, keeps the d backs tight...if C Vill D backs keep thinking "pick 6" and try to steal an int...they'll find out how strong the Murphy kids arm is, ....that is the beauty of Maldens offense...keep them coming...biting close, then burn them deep. That Malden QB has an arm, and will use it. Malden D will be the difference.

If Malden plays disciplined football, and keeps the pace of the game slow, and methodical, they can slow down that high powered Caruthersvlle offense. But Malden will have to play mistake free football. Malden has good corners, and a strong LB/FB.....and they dont mind hitting the ball carrier or reciever. I think Malden has a great shot at playoffs.

How this will all work out....

Friday Oct. 15th.

Sikeston vs Perryville 55-0 SIK-13 pts.

Farmington vs Cape 27-21 Farm-6 pts

Thurdsay/Friday Oct. 21/22.

Cape vs Sikeston 14-21 Sik-7 pts

Farmington vs Perryvilee 55-0 Farm-13pts.

Thursday Oct. 28th.

Cape vs Perryville 55-0 Cape 13pts.

Sikeston vs Farmington 21-28 Farm-7pts.

District Champs... Farmington-26pts

Sikeston- 20pts

Cape- 13pts.

Perryville-0pts.

This is how I see this working out... I think Sikeston could beat Farmington but traveling there on a Thursday night and with Farmington having a great home field advantage... I just don't know!

Great year by Cape 8-2 after not winning more than 2 games in the previous 2 years... GREAT YEAR!

Sikeston would play #1 from District 2 and Farmington will play #2 from district 2

Sikeston will play Farmington again at Farmington on Saturday November 8th.

I feel that this timeith a different outcome cause I have the feeling that Gibbs will be much better prepared for the things Farmington throws at them now.

Even if my predictions are wrong I think the winner of district 1 if it is Sikeston/Cape/Farmington will have a great chance to make it to the DOME>>>>> Now beating the other side of the bracket isn't going to be EASY but making it to the Dome will be one of the best things for the kids on these three school. I think all three teams are good. If Sikeston plays Farmington 10 times, half at home and half away they may finish the games 5-5. the same goes for Sikeston/Cape and Cape/Farmington.

Lets just enjoy district football and support whichever team that makes it through. Preferably Sikeston!!!!!!

GO SIKESTON but if they don't make it Go District 1

Thebestevernumberone... your name clearly stats everying, how can the knights run you over when they are a mostly passing team?

And "who can stop them? no one can?" Is that the dora song?

I'm guessing for the past seven weeks you've been locked in a cage in someones basement because I would bet the title to your "crib" that kearny would "stop the imaginary bus your driving."

Cape's win tonight is very impressive. Putting up 40 points on the road at Farmington is no easy task. I would have to give Cape the edge in their upcoming contest against Sikeston. One wild card is Sikeston's speed. I've seen over 25 years of high school football, and top to bottom, this Sikeston team might be the fastest high school team I've ever seen.

Another point worth mentioning: Sikeston's kick coverage is very, very poor. If they can't remedy this situation before next week's matchup, Cape could be looking at very good field position after each Sikeston kick. I would not be surprised in the least if Cape returns a kick for a score. In fact, I'll be mildly surprised if they don't. Punt coverage is fine.

Rockwood Summit beat Seckman 17-0

It looks as though if Cape's enrollment would have allowed them to stay in Class 5 they would have an easier time in that district. Great game last night tigers, way to keep fighting to the end!
