Bobby Bowden once said, "You take the kids with heart and no talent and give me the kids with talent and no heart, and I'll beat you every time." Once upon a time, I put a lot of stock in an athlete's heart. More and more, I'm convinced Coach Bowden is right. Certainly a talented athlete with heart is a bonanza, but given the choice - heart or talent - which would choose?
I checked the above post about 5 times. Title should read "Heart vs Athleticism," and last line should read "which would YOU choose?"
Sorry.

Talent.
I'd rather have the horses and try to mold them. With a bunch of no-talent kids that have a great heart, you're going to be limited no matter what. You'll get great effort and they're great kids to be around.

You hate to agree with that statement just for the sake of hope. After watching Kennett and Charleston play football this year that quote is dead on.

I like the saying "Hard work will beat athleticism when athleticism fails to work hard"..that is true in Cape...Central has a ton of athletes that don't work hard but you look at ND and those kids take it to the next step. The exception is the central football team this year that decided to work hard over the summer and has tremendous athletic ability. The results speak for themselves..
