I like your list. I think I'll go with Hayti in the question mark 5th spot.

I like Hayti too. I wasn't sure but you swayed me. Nice choice! By the way....congrats to the Eagles on their win!!

I think they deserve that spot, only game they've lost is to the 3rd spot. Thanks man! I'm glad they now can't have a shut out season haha!

Thats the way its going to be, and probably stay that way the rest of the year. I know with the game that I just witnessed at Charles Bland Stadium could have went either way, with the game really being decided on our attempt to go for 2. We did not get blown out and held our own against a good state ranked class 3 Dexter team. Dexter just has more weapons with a true dual threat QB. I know we had almost 500 yards in the first half and was held to just over 125 the second. Great adjustments by that coaching staff.

I'm just ready for some team any team even sikeston to win a state championship
-- Posted by Delo88 on Sat, Oct 8, 2011, at 7:54 AM
Central still shouldnt be in the top 5 i think.. yes they played good last night, but until they play better.. And if somehow central wins next week then i think central should be #1 but thats if that even happens!! Good luck to all teams in District play!

List looks good to me! Grats to Sikeston on the 600th win.. Now let one of the teams bring home a title to Southeast Missouri
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Sat, Oct 8, 2011, at 11:44 AM
At least there's no more debating over who the best team is anymore
-- Posted by Dustin Ruby on Sat, Oct 8, 2011, at 1:26 PM
I don't think there was really a debate about who the best team was in semo. Most of us knew it was Sikeston! They just have a better defense than everyone else. I think the debate is and always has been who the best running back is. There is no way to actually say for sure who the best is so it's all opinion based. Sikeston fans say it's Watson, everyone else say's it's Fonda. Let's just be happy we have two great running backs in our area this year. Both should make All-State in their respective classes.

My top ten is this:
1.Sikeston
2.Dexter
3.Caruthersville
4.Cape(Until Sikston and Farmington beats them)
5.Hayti

Looks good! I agree with everyone else. PLEASE let a team from SEMO bring home the hardware this year! LOL!

Cheesehead why do you always hate on central!?!
-- Posted by Central Tiger Fan on Sun, Oct 9, 2011, at 12:06 PM
I'm hating how? Because I think Sikeston and Farmington is going to win? If that's hate then yeah I guess I am.. Sorry! What do you want me to say, Cape kills Farmington this week then dominates Sikeston the very next week?
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Sun, Oct 9, 2011, at 12:19 PM
im just saying you never have anything good to say about cape like oo good win b ut win sikeston win you on there head like 24/7
-- Posted by Central Tiger Fan on Mon, Oct 10, 2011, at 7:09 PM
And you really don't know what your talking about. I never even bring up cape. What bad things do I say since you say I talk bad about them? As far as being on sikestons head as you like to say, just ask them. I've been in to it with just about all the sikeston posters si how am I on their head? I don't bring up cape bc I don't uave anything to say about them. Your just ***** bc I don't think cape can beat sikeston or farmington. Sorry, I'm not here to cater to anyones ego. I talk about what I want and if you don't like it then tough crap

Is this based off how good a team is per their class or based off if each team played each other who are the top 5 teams?
-- Posted by sportsnerd on Mon, Oct 10, 2011, at 9:10 PM
History suggests winning a state title will be difficult for any of the teams on this list. Nevertheless, one has to wonder how deep Caruthersville and Dexter will advance in their respective classes.
Is there a John Burroughs or Maplewood Richmond Heights out there to block the path to the Edward Jones Dome for Caruthersville and Dexter in 2011.
-- Posted by Dustin Ward on Mon, Oct 10, 2011, at 9:23 PM
There are no class designations....just the top 5 teams.
-- Posted by Rocket689 on Mon, Oct 10, 2011, at 10:23 PM
top 5 seems simple.. exactly like it is and poplar bluff probably number 5 now if you want to go by how good they are per they're class I'm sorry but I'd say Caruthersville 1, Sikeston 2, Dexter 3, Hayti 4 and idk 5... obviously sikeston is better then the others head to head but i think others are better compared to their peers.. Just hard to judge these types of things
-- Posted by sportsnerd on Mon, Oct 10, 2011, at 10:29 PM
If we are going by class, then it is easily Caruthersville, Dexter, then probably Hayti, Sikeston, Cape. But that doesn't tell you much more than the state rankings do.
-- Posted by sideline starter on Mon, Oct 10, 2011, at 10:31 PM
that's very true... only reason hayti to me isn't as high in 1a is because i think valle will be favored to knock them out in week 2 of the playoffs and i don't know who else around here will have as big of a challenge that early in the playoffs.. sikeston farmington rematch possibly
-- Posted by sportsnerd on Mon, Oct 10, 2011, at 10:37 PM
Well, then you are going by how deep a team will go versus where they are within their class. Hayti can't help that they will have a top three team/defending state champ waiting for them. They are still a top ten team in Class 1 just as Caruthersville and Dexter are in their respective classes. Sikeston has the potential to be if the defense continues to improve.

Well Dustin what does history suggest for sikeston?
-- Posted by Jebbie88 on Tue, Oct 11, 2011, at 1:07 PM
1. Sikeston
2. Dexter
3. Caruthersville
4. Cape
5. ?
I think the results from the games tonight speak volumes. This was decided on the field....as it should be.
What say you?
