I think after tonight the bulldogs will be 1-0. I don't know the last time the bulldogs started the season off 1-0. The bulldogs have alot of talent and potential this year from what I heard. I will keep an eye on the Portageville Bulldogs this year. They should have a really good season.

34-14. Dogs

Nice win Pville

-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Fri, Aug 24, 2012, at 10:18 PM

It is a nice win, but St. Pius X hasn't seen that much success in the past couple years.

Portageville almost let them get back into the game halfway through the 4th, but I am glad to see that they stepped up and shut the door on the Lancers.

They moved the ball efficiently and their defense was solid, but there were still some mistakes. Also it was St. Pius.

I will wait to see they do against Kennett next week before we can confirm if they are true back or not like I would like.

27-7 Dogs.

I put Pville in the upper half of the region after this. I believe Hayti and Scott City will determine if this team has a legit shot of going far in the playoffs. Before the season started I said that if Portageville did the following I would be satisfied.

1. Finish above .500

2. Finish in the top two of the conference

3. Win a district game.

After tonight I think Pville can reach those particular goals. We have to remember, however, Portageville plays in the most difficult district in class 1. If they want to achieve past those goals I personally set, they still have some work ahead of them.

-- Posted by paulbd on Sat, Sep 1, 2012, at 3:35 AM

I think Pville can pass those goals easily. Last night they showed they have heart and a dominant defense.

22-13 Dogs.

21-6 Dogs.

Hey Bryce congrats on the win. But you can always just post it in the current threads for week 4 games, that way you do not have to try to find this thread which is always low on the board.

35-22 Dogs.

Big win for Pville! Should finish the season undefeated going into the game against Valle in districts. Valle is tough though.

46-13 Dogs.

48-0 Dogs.

46-0 Dogs.**

-- Posted by BryceWallace on Sat, Oct 6, 2012, at 9:00 AM

It's East Prairie Bryce, it's nothing to brag about. Hayti beat them 72-6 and Pville beat Hayti so I wouldn't put much stock into last nights game.

-- Posted by Semofan25 on Sat, Oct 6, 2012, at 11:30 AM

Why does 1st and Ten hate portageville so much all Bryce did was update the score like he does every week on this forum lol smh man.

-- Posted by SugarBear00 on Sat, Oct 6, 2012, at 5:06 PM

1standten - bullock put his jv in for most of the second half. He at least has enough class not to run up the score. Those 46 point by pville were in the first half. I will give East Prairie credit for their players not giving up. When the dogs long runs gor touchdowns, #11 from EP followed all the way down the field

How bout the Dogs add C'ville to their scedule next year. If their RBs are so good, how bout you play us next year. Alot of your players have said that yall are better than our team. I'd like to remind all you Pville fans that yall dropped us..

-- Posted by Tigersfan on Sun, Oct 7, 2012, at 8:53 PM

They dropped Caruthersville becuase they got tired of getting beat 50-0 every year. I guess they forgot what it was like being the bottom man on the totem poll. Valle will bring them back to reality.

-- Posted by Semofan25 on Sun, Oct 7, 2012, at 10:01 PM

1standTen

DUDE. What's your grudge against Portageville? I have seen nothing but trash coming from you about the Bulldogs. Let the kids be proud of winning and let them boast about it. It is just a game. Win or lose. @ Tigersfan we didnt drop anything. It's a decision made by the schools and its administrators. The RB we have now are seniors. they wont be back next year. us winning has nothing to do with portageville dropping caruthersville from the roster.

This is the place for respectful disagreements, constructive criticisms and spirited discussion about high school football. However, as you discuss a coach's third down play call or a heart-breaking missed extra point, we ask that you keep in mind that the players are students first and athletes second. We want coaches, players and fans alike to be able to talk about teams and games together, without any unnecessary negativity.

-- Posted by hmc53 on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 4:53 AM

"1standTen yes we do but we also back our talk up have we lied yet we WILL beat Valle and when we do we WILL Win state Portageville has always had lots of athletes just no leadership now we got that and we gonna ride this momentum all the way to the end so weather you or anyone else likes it or not we WILL be In the dome that's all I gotta say"-ReportJoe, admitted Portageville player

You don't understand why this little nugget and all the ones like it we have read this year rub people the wrong way?

-- Posted by sideline starter on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 5:11 AM

Please don't think all of us Tiger fans are not glad P'ville is winning this year. I promise I am glad of it I watched the Hayti game and no doubt even though you guys won the refs still had a hand in the score. P'ville has several good backs and they run the ball right at you and run hard right down your throat. So Valle don't overlook this team or you will be watching come Dome time. Good luck P'ville the rest of the year and future years to come unless you play my Tigers then I can't wish you luck!!!!!!

-- Posted by cvilletiger02 on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 5:23 AM

i love how all these fans bash teams for dropping other teams. like the sikeston fans said "freddy dropped sikeston because they just wanted to play us when we were bad." you're ignorant if you think that. freddy dropped sikeston because of the district change. our conference wasn't the district anymore. so we either drive to sikeston, charleston, and east prairie every other year or drive to north county and hillsboro. and yea we'd REALLY rather play a maplewood team where we don't know who they're gonna try to hurt after the play than a very clean sikeston team and get beat by the same score. that makes perfect sense.

-- Posted by TheDaddy on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 4:18 PM

Both Caruthersville and Portageville are having a great year. If your local, you know there is decades of history between all the Boothill teams...some bad. Caruthersville was dropped because they vandalized the locker room at Portageville after the last game. confirm with the AD. That is no reflection on current teams.

I remember when I was in school, we had windows broken out of the bus, and one player was attacked and beaten at another school in the bootheel. Schools have to have a "cooling off" period when something like that happens. It's not worth scheduling a game when you have bring in every police officer in the county for security.

If we "ADULTS" set a good example, perhaps the next generation will follow. We need to respect one another, Life is too short for that. Play the game hard, and leave it all on the playing field.

-- Posted by sawdust49 on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 6:58 PM

Come on sawdust you guys played us at home last year if it were to be dropped it would have been the game this past year not from 2 years ago.

-- Posted by wheresthebeef on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 9:38 PM

I think the main reason is because Caruthersville has outscored Portageville 273-40 over the last 7 years and 2 of those years no games were played against the 2 teams.

The only thing that got vandalized was player moral, I know that none of these coaches would let vandalism take place so I think you are just trying to stir it with a long stick.

-- Posted by wheresthebeef on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 9:45 PM

yea freddy has had its fair share of getting crap thrown at us. (herky, potosi, park hills) and if i wasn't lied to, some of our idiot hs students threw eggs at SG's bus after we beat them in '07.

I think every football team, fans, family and friends should be excited that a team is doing well..I'm sure a lot of people in the Portageville area are excited that they are winning. Hell I'm happy they are. But IMO I think people are starting to have a grudge because of all the bold preditctions and smack talk on here by some of their players and fans. I think they have something to prove in two weeks against NMCC, shouldn't be much of a game if all the talk is backed up. And I'm not a believer that a team should look past anyone, but saying Portageville will be in the dome? Before predictions, here are a couple of suggestions to look at. Hayti, Thayer, Valle, Miller, Tipton and Skyline. Them are some dang good teams that have been their many many times..Be confident, not Cocky. This is why I think you all are starting to get some haters. Good luck to the Dogs the rest of their season.

-- Posted by The Longest Yard on Tue, Oct 9, 2012, at 3:07 AM

skyline is down in my neck of the woods! i randomly passed by it out in a corn field looking for a deer hunting spot!

-- Posted by TheDaddy on Tue, Oct 9, 2012, at 8:20 PM

Okay Portageville players y'all heard why coach said so stay off here talking smack btw I'm sorry for my cockiness

-- Posted by Semopost13 on Tue, Oct 9, 2012, at 8:51 PM

Looked at the Portageville vs Hayti game on youtube...IMO it looks like they need a bit more fundamental play on the line, but they do have some good backs back there. If they get some kinks worked out, they have the potential to be a dark horse.

-- Posted by blackNgold007 on Tue, Oct 9, 2012, at 11:48 PM

I think North Pem is the only dark horse in the area. Portageville is the bulldogs.
