Agreed Cheese. The Bluejays offense didn't really light it up against The Bulldogs. The First touchdown came on a botched punt by Sikeston deep in Bluejay Territory. Sikestons defense really shut them down, and for the Dogs to win by 2 touchdowns when their offense turned the ball over 5 times doesn't say much for their defense. I'm not saying the Jays haven't improved, because I really believe they have, but I still say Hayti wins this one by a narrow margin.

Deep in BlueJay territory? Since when is the 40 yard line deep in a team's territory? If you want to say a team set up another's score, try Charleston's two botched punts that left Sikeston in the Red Zone on both.
Sikeston's D controlled the line of scrimmage and kept the Jays at bay after the Jays' first possession. But, take away those two botched punts and the missed tackle in the backfield on Gross when he made his long TD run, it's a very different ballgame.
But, that's part of the game...just as Sikeston's 5 turnovers are part of the game. But, don't minimize the Jays' performance against the Bulldogs unless you do the same for your own team.

You both suck. Everybody's happy?? Juusst kidding everyone

The Bulldogs played VERY SLOPPY and beat a MUCH improved Jays team. If the Dogs hadn't imploded, it would have been a running clock....no doubt. With that in mind, the game played out like it did and was a little closer. Good luck to the Jays the rest of the year.

You Sikeston fans are so full of yourselves. Running clock? Laughable!!

You Bluejay fans are so amazing!!!
No really... I mean it... AWESOME!!!
If we could only be more like Bluejay fans!

It was 27-14 with 5 SECOND HALF TURNOVERS AND 7 FUMBLES! We won by 13 with all of that. 17 more points is not far fetched... Good luck the rest of the way Jays.

Getting the Sikeston/Charleston rivalry talk before Basketball??? Unheard of...lol

Chuck...just getting the pump primed!

Guys it really was a closer game than any if you thought or liked for that matter. Yes sik had a lot of turnovers but so did ctown! I mean it was 21-14 with 11min on the clock, before coaching staff started to play madden by the onside kick... Idk what or why but I guess he felt the need to... I actually wouldve like for them to kick away & play defense instead of giving sik the short field... I saw a prediction of 35-0, so I would say either ctown played up to or sik played down to us.... I'm predicting cape & Jackson defeats sik this year... IMO... Also we'll see if we can get that running clock for you in dec or jan rocket... On that wood!!!
-- Posted by He hate me on Wed, Aug 29, 2012, at 3:35 PM
Hate....Charleston beat Sikeston by a total of 8-10 points last year in 2 games (I think they only played twice). The year before Sikeston beat Charleston by 20+ at YOUR HOUSE....what does that have to do with football....this year? Nothing.
Back to the question....yes, the FOOTBALL game was close, but Sikeston got a late TD to go up by 2 scores (27-14). All I said was that Sikeston would have had a running clock without all of the turnovers. Cape might beat us this year, I don't think Jackson will, but time will tell. When you get your first win this year, let me know.

Loved that last sentence Rocket! Ha! I guess the same can be said about my Tigers too...
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Wed, Aug 29, 2012, at 5:45 PM
And, back to my original comment....without the two botched punts, you could take two Sikeston scores off the board.
Rocket's last comment just confirms my comment about Sikeston fans....I guess I should say "some Sikeston fans" as some are quite reasonable.

Heartland football Friday will let u know! I'm sure we'll win at least 6games... No shame in that, we can't draw from 1,000 students, we draw from 276. I think the program is heading in right direction, we're still very young also, so I look for better days in future. Btw those two games from last yr, it's not the amount of pts, it's how we beat you those two games, may have been 10-12 but it felt like 20, it was brilliantly executed... I expect more of the same with 8returning. Cheese we 'll see u next wk, time will tell! It's good to be back! Same ole $&@€, different yr...

I know you Charleston fans are looking for something to argue about and that was not my intention. That was the way I saw the game. We could say "if" and "but" all night.....if my aunt had balls, she would be my uncle...so there you go. I said the game played out like it did and I said Charleston is MUCH improved...which they are. You guys relax. We will have MUCH more time to talk about the rivalry in hoops.
I gave you guys credit last year and this year. I have said that you are much improved. Your coaching staff has you guys going in the right direction. Good luck the rest of the way (that is the third time I have said that on this thread).

Rocket has a bit of terrets and repeating....lol. For him to give Ctown that many compliments, it must be a degenerative condition....

^Ha! Thanks for the love, Chuck!

We'll graciously accept your compliments, Rocket; thank you; we, too, think the program is heading in the right direction.
And, I've also stated how I saw the game, much different from your take on the game...and, both views are understandable based on our biases.
I will also add that I'm sure Sikeston will be much improved as the season progresses, just as Charleston and most other teams. However, I do not believe this year's version of the Bulldogs comes close to the last few years' teams. If the Dogs are one of the best teams in SEMO, this year, SEMO must be very weak.

Trying to find a compliment in there to us but just can't. But this is about Charleston and Hayti. I'm going to take Hayti unless they can't stop I think it was #4 on Charleston he's pretty fast.

I agree with you, birdfan. This year's version is NOT as good as the 2 state semifinal teams. We may not EVER have teams like that again. However, this team can be very good and I am sure the team and the coaching staff expect to make a run in the playoffs.

Once a program reaches a pinnacle, its expected every year from there on....so anything less usually gets the "man what are the coaches doing different?" You see that at any level for every sport. Expectations go through the roof.

Our smallest lineman those 2 years would probably be the biggest on this years team
but you'll be able to surpass 100 yards of total offense tonight
