Just heard this. Is moving it up an hour and half really going to help much?

The way I understand it is that they expect lightning delays and starting earlier will allow for them to have a better chance of finishing the game in its' entirety. Or, it will give them a better chance. I would assume downpours wouldn't delay anything - just lightning.

Reddirt, I remember we were playing Jackson a couple years ago and had a few delays due to lightning and the game didn't end until LATE. Perhaps they are partially doing this to add in a buffer so the kids aren't stuck outside all night.

I wouldn't think 90 minutes would help very much.
-- Posted by gianthook on Thu, Aug 30, 2012, at 10:40 AM
I don't understand why more schools didn't switch their games to tonight.
-- Posted by gianthook on Thu, Aug 30, 2012, at 10:41 AM
My point is have they really got an accurate enough forecast to pin point when and where all of this is going to happen?
-- Posted by REDDIRT DOG on Thu, Aug 30, 2012, at 11:00 AM
I don't know if they do or not. Seems like precaution to try to get as much play in before the weather hits as possible. They wouldn't just move it up for laughs. You can play a half of football in that time.

sikeston fans, do yall have a mercy clock that yall like to use!? Or will we need to provide one haha!?

Should move it to tonight. New Madrid 9th grades game just got moved from there to Dexter. Probably to late now

6-0 Sikeston start of 3rd qtr
NOt a great Offensive showing by Sikeston
-- Posted by Headhunt on Fri, Aug 31, 2012, at 6:50 PM
Lots of fumbles??? Because that's what we did when we played Charleston.
-- Posted by TFA on Fri, Aug 31, 2012, at 7:03 PM
Sikeston won 12-0 but I heard it was nothing to brag about. But a win is a win I guess
-- Posted by TFA on Fri, Aug 31, 2012, at 8:20 PM
Yes the final score was 12-0. No, the turnovers was pretty good both ways. No interceptions for either team, and I believe 1 fumble a piece. NMCC played good defense, they just couldn't get any offense at all going, but that's also credit to sikestons good D. I also thought, and apologies to the Sikeston fans, that it was pretty poor that the new Madrid concession stand ran out of hot dogs by halftime, what a poor job. But you know, hot dogs cost a lot to keep on hand haha!
-- Posted by BuckMajor on Fri, Aug 31, 2012, at 8:31 PM
No hotdogs?? Glad I didn't go. Well glad it wasn't as bad as I had pictured in my head
-- Posted by TFA on Fri, Aug 31, 2012, at 8:40 PM
I listened to the game on the internet and was wondering if the game was as ugly as it sounded. It sounded like neither team could get anything going.

Someone told us that Sikeston had five starters out with injuries
-- Posted by lastride67 on Fri, Aug 31, 2012, at 10:26 PM
Think maybe only 2 out
-- Posted by TFA on Fri, Aug 31, 2012, at 10:48 PM
entirely possible......there are some dings right now..
-- Posted by Headhunt on Fri, Aug 31, 2012, at 10:48 PM
Starting RB Chris Word was out, end string RB Marques Newman was out and starting OT & ILB was out. I would say Word and Green really hurt but Newman being out had us with a freshman rb tonight.
No excuses NMCC had s solid defensive game plan... They contained the outside and made the Dogs search for solutions. We had several good rubs up the middle with NMCC focused on the outside so much, but looks like coaches didn't see the opportunity up the middle. Offense is just flat right now. Coach Gibbs will keep working them and I hope we get all our weapons back sooner than later...
As for the Sikeston Defense...
THANK GOD THEY ARE TOUGH AS NAILS!!!

I don't know if you can say they're tough as nails just yet seeing as they've played 2 teams that will probably combine for 7 or 8 wins that are both smaller than them, I would say they're good but I want to see them play better competition before I would put them in the same category as the teams from 2 and 3 years ago wich were both "tough as nails"

Well, Sikeston's team last year was not even as close as good as the previous two years. They were good, but not great. This year's edition is lacking experience upfront, which is showing early. Some key injuries have happened. When we get some of those players back it will help. But...just like last year...we have no real passing threat so the opposing defenses stack the box. Kyland has done an adequate job but he has been thrust into a role in which he is not quite yet comfortable. He did look somewhat better throwing some swing passes and we moved the ball then. He tends to hold it a little too long, but I have confidence that he will get better.

Kyland is a beast running the ball. He is a threat to break a long run on every play.

I can say this much about last years team they may have been worse on defense but clearly better on offence due to Lineman like Clay Driskill Ben Walker and conner hamra

Agreed, Sonic. That's the biggest difference between this year's O and last year's. Inexperience upfront....
