Cape Central @ Poplar Bluff.... cape... bluff is disappointing me already this year.
Caruthersville @ Charleston.... charleston. i might not pick charleston anymore if they lose.
Hayti @ Chaffee.... i'll kill someone if hayti doesn't win.
Dexter @ Sikeston.... uhhhhh.... i'm not sure. i don't really like dexter so i'll pick sikeston.
Scott City @ East Prairie.... see c'ville/charleston pick. same goes for scott city.
Farmington @ Jackson.... wasn't impressed with farmington at the football camp. jackson by 20.
Kennett @ New Madrid County Central.... watching this game might be like kissing your grandma on the mouth. i'd like to see kennett get a win. i got em by 8.
Malden @ Portageville.... malden will eat "porridge-ville" for dinner. win by 12.
Perryville @ Potosi.... as the people that migrated here from semosportsweb know, i HATE isotop. i'd like to see them lose by 50. but i'll settle for a 22-13 p'ville win.
St. Vincent @ Valle.... valle wins this during the first 3 possessions. 55-0
Park Hills Central @ Fredericktown.... see above post about isotop. same goes for park hills. but freddy will put up big numbers against THA HILLZ. have you seen the movie "the hills have eyes"? thats what the people from PH look like. just ask zach.
Ste. Genevieve @ Maplewood.... as much as i'd love to see Bleed Green cry on here about how bad the reffs were, SG wins this one in another come from behind.
i'll get to go to the Freddy game this week (hopefully). so if my comments offend you, i'll buy you some popcorn.

Ste. Genevieve @ Maplewood - Ste Gen, but playing in the 'hood isn't like playing Valle.

Trust me! Our running back is definitely the best in Semo and probably one of the best in the state. Don't believe me? Ask anyone who has seen him play.
DGB was the best WR in the nation last year but did nothing against a Webb City defense. Does that mean he was overrated? No.. Football is a team sport and you need others on your team to help you in all aspects. Darrell is the best talent in Semo hands down, no one on SG can even begin to compare to his talent. SG may win the game but no way you have the best player on the field. SG needs to worry about Class 3 teams in MICDS and John Borroughs, and not Class 1 and Class 2 teams.
I can almost guarantee you that the coaches at SG IS worried about Maplewood. They are stacked on the line and have excellent skill players. I've seen these players since they were freshman, they are the real deal and SG will have they're hands full friday night.

Bleed Green, Cheese is right. He's not just being homer. Monroe is the real deal! He looks like a man among boys! Just wait and see.
-- Posted by REDDIRT DOG on Tue, Sep 4, 2012, at 12:42 PM
Yeah, Monroe is an absolute beast. Can't wait to see where he plays on Saturdays in a couple of years. One little point of correction, Cheese, is that MICDS is Class 4. Just wanted to point that out. Your sentiment remains the same.

Ah Yeah! Thanks for the correction Sideline but I got my point across.

One ineresting fact about the Malden Portageville game is that their new head coach or he might be the assaint coach is from Malden. I will have to check with some family that still live in Malden to clarify which one he is. But he did play football for Malden and also was a assaint coach for them for a few years before he took the princapal job at Holcomb Mo. Also his step nephew is Malden's QB.

I don't know much about area football. But I can tell you this. Whoever plays Jackson this year better be in shape. These kids have bought into this new coaches system. There going to score points. The surprise has been the defense. Its still a young season but from what I've seen there going to be a force to be rekon with.
-- Posted by oldschoolbballer on Tue, Sep 4, 2012, at 6:33 PM
This right here is coming from a diehard Tiger fan if we do not start passing ALOT more in these games then no team we are going to play is going to respect us in that aspect. Smart coaching will stack the box against Caruthersville and make us try to beat them with the pass.
The Tigers play good against local teams on the ground and the coaching staff thinks that will work on every team we play. Bottom line is if we do not get a passing game established with the QB and WR's that we have we are gonna be screwed come playoff time. Darrell is having to play both ways and even though his stamina is one of the best he is human and gets wore out. We have the skill set needed to be productive in the passing but someone has to call those plays. You are going to have to build Grissom's confidence or we are just a single threat team. Out of all of the great teams other than last year we were great at passing the ball, Middleton in 2010 and 2009 Creekmore in 2004 those were some of the best teams that we have had, ones that the opposition had to plan for both threats.
You cannot expect a QB to be real threat in the postseason if you do not let him get enough throwing done in the regular season. We have the athletes and QB to get the job done we just need someone to call the plays and get them implemented.

From what I have seen of Monroe he is a very powerful weapon for C'ville any coach would be proud to have him on their team. I hope this year he gets the recognition he deserves and attend the college of his choice. But by me being a Blue Jay fan win or lose I must say let's go Blue Jays! Play hard, play as a team and have fun doing it!

Beef I've seen film on Cville I'm impressed by your QB he looks like a baller! In order to beat teams like mwood Lamar and even JB u have to mix it up! I wasn't being a jerk when I said if u don't learn how to pass u won't beat SG! There run D is awesome they have huge d lineman who are strong and fast and there lb are quick to the hole! If u want a chance to beat them u have to pass the ball although they are good against the pass but not as good ad against the run! I really do like the Monroe kid but he has a lot of learning to do he has a lot of potential though but he alone will not carry Cville in the playoffs!! Good luck this week
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Wed, Sep 5, 2012, at 3:41 PM
As much as I hate to agree with anything Bleed Green says, I think he's right about Caruthersville. Monroe is an absolute stud, but as Beef said earlier, teams are going to stuff the box to stop him and dare the Tigers to beat them through the air. If they want to beat Ste. Gen or advance far into the playoffs, they have to develop a passing game.
That said, and just so Bleed Green's head won't get too big, if the Dragons have a weakness, it's in their secondary IMO. So if the Tigers can find a passing game before Oct. 19 and balance out their offense, they have a great chance to win that game.
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Wed, Sep 5, 2012, at 3:50 PM
I don't think anyone is disagreeing with Bleed on that issue. Anyone who has seen this team in person knows our passing game lacks. I just don't like people making assumptions about a particular player that they haven't seen play in person, EVER!!! Those highlights you saw of Darrell were probably from his freshman and sophmore seasons. True, there are things he needs to work on at the running back position BUT, that is not his forte.
Darrell is a defensvie player, although he may shine at running back, his thing is defense. Him getting 80% of the carries really hurts his production on the defensive side of the ball. If he were to play for a bigger school, there would be no doubt he would be a top prospect in Missouri, and even in the Nation. That's kinda a bad deal for small town football, you can have the superior athletes but they will go unnoticed because of the size of the school. Sad but true.
Darrell will be playing D-1 football in two years, with him only being a junior this year. I hope Mizzou picks him up. They need someone with his aggression on the defensvie side, esp in the SEC.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Wed, Sep 5, 2012, at 4:02 PM
Preach I do agree with u right now are Defense against the pass right now is a little iffy! They got some good corners but they are making to many stupid mistakes! And the safety looks lost at times but is a good safety. If Cville gets a pass game they do have a good chance at winning some BIG games! And to be honest with u I hope they do I like your program I have for the last 4 years!
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Wed, Sep 5, 2012, at 5:09 PM
Will wonders never cease? Bleed Green and I have agreed on two things in the same day?! LOL! On the other hand, maybe I need to re-think some things...

I would put an asterisk by the Chaffee vs. Hayti game. If Chaffee's starting QB plays this week, I think the Red Devils will win. I don't think Hayti will have the personnel to adequately cover Chaffee's spread offense. But if he doesn't play, Hayti should win the game.
Ste. Gen vs. M-RH should be a great game with alot of points scored. If Freddy can beat PHC they will be in the cat-birds seat in Class 3, District 1 as I believe Ste. Gen will lose to M-RH.
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Wed, Sep 5, 2012, at 5:59 PM
They might be if SG looses but when SG plays Freddy it won't even b close! Freddy better be ready PH has Revenge on there minds! If it rains like they say it's suppose to then SG should have the advantage! I don't see a lot of points scored I'm predicting a 34 to 21 SG victory! I know Mwood has a few Div 1 players but Our abilitity to Run the spread and then go under center will throw them off! Look for coach Weiler to make a BIG statement this week. But if SG looses the TO battle they will loose the game. But as for Class 3 dist 1 it's not even close SG is head and shoulders better then every team! You will see
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Wed, Sep 5, 2012, at 6:33 PM
Maplewood's quarterback is the real deal! He can take off and run with it, but he can also pass it pretty dang good. If they can contain him running the ball, SG can win the game, if not, they will lose the game.

I watched a documentary (The Massillon Tigers) one time where this school would hold their boys back in the 7th grade to give them more time to what they called MATURE...it was a school that was real heavy on football and alot of the parents allowed the school to do that. I cant remember the

Last years game SG should of beat MW by aleast 2 tds but turnovers and stupid penalties hurt them. Now MW was very, very bad at taking stupid penalties, i think they had around 20.SG didnt do a good job of trying to run the clock out with the lead.
-- Posted by hb1025 on Wed, Sep 5, 2012, at 8:24 PM
Howdy from over here in south central Mo. Just wanted to jump in here and ask for some more thoughts on the St.Gen/Maplewood game. A lot of people over my way seem to think MW wins this game in a landslide.
-- Posted by eagletimer on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 8:47 AM
SG has an All-State receiver playing one corner (so he has to be pretty athletic), a returning all-conference safety, and the other corner has started every game since his sophomore year. If the secondary is their weakness, they must be really good everywhere else.
-- Posted by kools&oe on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 8:53 AM
They can believe what they wanna believe Im telling you this much MWood will not blow SG out! I know Mwood is good but SG ain't just some run of the mill team! I have watched the game film on Mwood and MICDS and I'm telling u guys MICDS is horrible this year everyone thought that it was the MICDS of old and it's not! I saw clips of Mwood Brentwood game and Brentwood looks like a JV squad! Oh look what MICDS did against Westminster? They lost 34 to 0!! They SUCK. Mwood can't handle SG defense they will have to air it out to win and I don't trust there QB to do that plus it's going to be raining not the idea weather conditions for some city slickers!! Mwood will come out and try to stop the spread I know they saw footage on last weeks game and saw how well SG ran it in the rain! If we do go under center I'm assuming they will run a 2 eagle which is what Valle did! I wouldn't coach Weiler has had a hole week to put in his own little wrinkle!! I said this before and I will say it again if SG wins the TO battle they will win if not they loose! But this I promise Mwood will not Blow SG out!!!
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 9:10 AM
Kool there secondary is really good but right now there the weak point on a excellent defense!! It's not the corner it's the safety he is good but I think he tries to make every play! I'm telling everyone if SG QB can put it together they have the D to win a STATE title! Drury is good but needs to improve week to week I know he will he is very Smart and plays with a lot if heart!!
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 9:16 AM
BG, watch the wording with phrases like "They suck" even if it is an out of area team. I know you get excited when you post but we don't need discussion like that on here. However, I do agree in thinking that MICDS was overrated this year. I still think Maplewood wins though.
-- Posted by sideline starter on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 10:08 AM
Ok there not any good sorry!
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 11:10 AM
BG, here's the mo-speak for that phrase: "They are not very good" or "I was disappointed", you can translate into BG-speak all you want in your head! ;)
But, seriously on topic, MRH has an LB recruited by Mizzou that is a monster, should give any O-line fits. Plus they have a new coach with playoff and state champ experience while at Hazelwood Central. The two times I've seen them I've always thought they were a talented team that would roll into the playoffs, but VERY un-disiplined. This new guy sounds like he's working those issues, so WATCH OUT!
This will be the test for STG, they win this, they got a good shot at getting past JBS later this year IMO.
What REALLY sucks is MRH is in our conference. I wish they could trade with someone else!
-- Posted by mojo3 on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 11:27 AM
So St. Gen is that much better that they are going to beat a team, JBS, that beat them last year 49-7 and were up 42-0 at half?? And JBS has almost everyone back.
-- Posted by NewTigerFan on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 12:11 PM
Thanks guys for all your comments. If my Eagles weren't playing Friday night I would think about making the trip to see this game. If you guys ever get the notion to talk some out of area football drop by the SCA Sports forum! Again thanks for the input.
-- Posted by eagletimer on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 1:07 PM
SG defense is way better then last year IMO! There Offense is more rounded then last year last year we depended in Weiler this year we don't have to! As for that game last year HB came out and cut our throats early getting up 7 to 0 and then kicking on side kick and getting it then WR turn the ball over right away! Everything SG wanted to do! Let's not forget that that SG team went to JB earlier on and should of best them we had them down and SG made mistakes and JB capitalized on! I'm not worried about JB SG is good I know that if We loose we lost to the #1 team in 2 A if We win it's because SG got lucky they can't get any respect out of anyone! Win or loose it's not the end of the world but I promise you that if We do loose I will be on here still backing my team just like most of you!! MOST!!!
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 1:20 PM
I respect you for that Bleed. I stand by my team, win or lose. As any true fan should! It should be an exciting game.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 1:34 PM
NTF, my logic holds more water than putting three votes for Potosi in the State Sportswriter's poll. MRH is ranked #1 in the Post-Dispatch small school poll (again who puts that out?) ahead of Burroughs, so a good test for any of the local Class 3 school IS MRH (which four of the local schools play due to conference commitments). So if you hold any stock in polls, if the powers-that-be in St. Louis are saying MRH is better than Burroughs and so forth....
-- Posted by mojo3 on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 1:36 PM
Mojo if there better then JB I will be surprised! Just because your going to Mizzou dosnt mean u can't be stopped! Brock Olivo ring a bell? That man was a beast he was averaging over 200 yds a game we held him to 30 carries for 100 yds! Or something pretty similar to that. Time will tell I'll give updates after every quarter!!
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 3:31 PM
This just in Mwood is really good they have a few div1 prospects ones even going to Mizzou!!! Man SG shouldn't even show up!! Wait a minute Dosnt SG have a Div1 prospect? Wait I think they do how about a 6'7 270 lb monster at DT and at guard!! But he goes to SG so he must be overrated!! That's how stupid a lot of people sound!!!
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 4:38 PM
Farmington was pretty much a "powerhouse" team last year. MICDS ROLLED them in the Semifinals. I watched it. It was not pretty. That MICDS team no longer exists.
Maplewood this...Maplewood that....blah blah blah blah.....teams will gain credibility when they start playing credible teams. I believe that SG may be semi-credible and that they are somewhat capable of throwing down with the 'wood.
It will be a major eye-opener and confidence booster if SG pulls it off.
-- Posted by zachattack on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 4:47 PM
Hey Sideline, after week 3, are you going to possibly do a Sideline top 10? I always find them rather interesting to read and usually agree with them. I would assume 3 weeks would be ample amount of time to properly rank the teams.
-- Posted by sm0723 on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 4:59 PM
Hopefully SG can get back to the brand of football that made them a top notch program. The spread was great for stats and made for mind blowing scores. But they were not physical and played some pretty awful defense at times. Hopefully these 400-500 yard passing days are gone good hard nose football is back.
-- Posted by caniplay on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 6:23 PM
SM, I haven't decided if I'll get the top ten going after Week 3 or Week 4. It really depends if I have anytime this Sunday or not. But I'll get it going one of those two weeks and am appreciative that you enjoy them.
-- Posted by sideline starter on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 6:25 PM
Ste Gen does a very good job of adapting to their personnel. I first remember them going to the spread with Faulkner (starting QB at SIU this year.) Before that, I think they ran 60 to 65% of the time and were very efficient in the passing game. The spread is great if you have the weapons to do it...although I feel it can be stopped easier than a powerhouse running game. It seams that almost all the small school champions-Class 4 and below have an above average running game. A team that really interests me is Jackson and how their new coach has always had teams that got tons of passing AND rushing yards out of the spread.
-- Posted by deckerd31 on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 7:36 PM
The problem with the spread in Southeast Missouri is that they usually meet a team with better athletes on defense in the round of 8 or final 4. Better athletes that tackle well give spread offenses fit-most likely what we will see when Mizzou plays Alabama for example
-- Posted by deckerd31 on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 7:40 PM
I believe in 2010 and 2011 Ste. Gen. may not have won a game had they not opened up their o. Their talent level was horrendous. The last 2 years they have been able to do a little more under center or gun. I think their record over the long haul speaks for themselves and yes, their defense has been bad but when you have to play 160 lb linebackers that can't dribble a basketball much less run, what are you going to do. MRH has a D Lineman going to MU, he is not a LB. His size is 6'4 295....If SG could have played defense in Faulkners senior season, they may have went to the dome.Sometimes it helps to have athletes. Cyclical as most teams find out that don't have the ability to recruit...
-- Posted by Horizontal Stretch on Thu, Sep 6, 2012, at 7:48 PM
they definitely had the offense to go to the dome. no defense whatsoever though. totally agree with you there.

Personally, I don't know if Jackson is gonna roll Farmington. It's very possible, but Todd Vaughn is one of the best coaches around. I highly doubt that the outcome of this game will be a result of SUPERIOR coaching skills on behalf of one team or another.

Does anyone know if the Chaffee QB is out again this week?
-- Posted by REDDIRT DOG on Fri, Sep 7, 2012, at 9:01 AM
Anxious to see Jackson -Farmington outcome.
Jackson I think is a new look.....Farmington just seems to run that same effective offense.
I see Jackson's defense being key

SG's gonna blow MRH out, no contest. They are just too good this year. I look for them to run the table on all they face this year.
Fredicktown gonna kill the rebels 80-0. Smoke them apples.
-- Posted by Shortbus on Fri, Sep 7, 2012, at 12:05 PM
Chaffee's QB threw for 342 against Grandview people. Hayti played quality teames in Thayer and Charleston. Chaffee does not have the speed to keep up with Hayti. Even if it pours down rain Hayti wins by 21. I repeat Grandview...

Sorry Zach....just maybe Freddy Mac Central has it this year. ( To BIG to Fail) haha
Counting on you knowing whats up with St Gennie ,
it's hard to not pull trigger with the WOOD...
Also his step nephew is Malden's QB.

uhhh who is this RB we're talking about? i guess i'm living under a rock...
I don't know much about area football. But I can tell you this. Whoever plays Jackson this year better be in shape. These kids have bought into this new coaches system. There going to score points. The surprise has been the defense. Its still a young season but from what I've seen there going to be a force to be rekon with.
I agree there!
Thats right beef we have to have a passing game to win outside semo wish we played more teams in midmo

You will see
Maplewood's quarterback is the real deal! He can take off and run with it, but he can also pass it pretty dang good. If they can contain him running the ball, SG can win the game, if not, they will lose the game.
I agree it's going to be a tall task can't wait!
Maplewood will handle st gen easily sorry
And I agree withe cheese Monroe will play defense and I hope it is at Mizzou, he will be a real big boy by then.
monroe is awesome, but how old is he for real???
I don't know how old he is but he will be eligible for his senior season. He is not 25 as some people may want to believe. haha
Howdy from over here in south central Mo. Just wanted to jump in here and ask for some more thoughts on the St.Gen/Maplewood game. A lot of people over my way seem to think MW wins this game in a landslide.
SG has an All-State receiver playing one corner (so he has to be pretty athletic), a returning all-conference safety, and the other corner has started every game since his sophomore year. If the secondary is their weakness, they must be really good everywhere else.
BG, watch the wording with phrases like "They suck" even if it is an out of area team. I know you get excited when you post but we don't need discussion like that on here. However, I do agree in thinking that MICDS was overrated this year. I still think Maplewood wins though.
Ok there not any good sorry!
So St. Gen is that much better that they are going to beat a team, JBS, that beat them last year 49-7 and were up 42-0 at half?? And JBS has almost everyone back.
Thanks guys for all your comments. If my Eagles weren't playing Friday night I would think about making the trip to see this game. If you guys ever get the notion to talk some out of area football drop by the SCA Sports forum! Again thanks for the input.
MOST!!!
I respect you for that Bleed. I stand by my team, win or lose. As any true fan should! It should be an exciting game.
Hey Sideline, after week 3, are you going to possibly do a Sideline top 10? I always find them rather interesting to read and usually agree with them. I would assume 3 weeks would be ample amount of time to properly rank the teams.
Hopefully SG can get back to the brand of football that made them a top notch program. The spread was great for stats and made for mind blowing scores. But they were not physical and played some pretty awful defense at times. Hopefully these 400-500 yard passing days are gone good hard nose football is back.
SM, I haven't decided if I'll get the top ten going after Week 3 or Week 4. It really depends if I have anytime this Sunday or not. But I'll get it going one of those two weeks and am appreciative that you enjoy them.
The problem with the spread in Southeast Missouri is that they usually meet a team with better athletes on defense in the round of 8 or final 4. Better athletes that tackle well give spread offenses fit-most likely what we will see when Mizzou plays Alabama for example
Cyclical as most teams find out that don't have the ability to recruit...
they definitely had the offense to go to the dome. no defense whatsoever though. totally agree with you there.
Does the chance of rain help Bluffs chances against Cape? It might slow down Centrals team speed and give PB a fighting chance.
Cape Central and Poplar Bluff...Cape Central
C ville and Charleston... C ville by 21
Hayti and Chaffee...Humes runs circles around them. Hayti in a land slide by 40
Dexter and Sikeston...Sikeston by a lot no matter how bad they are playing right now.
Scott City and East Prairie...Scott City..East Prairie Nees cpr..
Farmington and Jackson..Jackson Rolls this one..New staff taking control..
Freddy and Park Hills..Hmmm..tough one...Will Take Freddy but not sure..I think it will be a close one..
Kennet and NMCC...Kennet...by 21
Malden and Portageville...Protageville in a close one..
Perryville and Potosi..Potosi..Perryville and cinderella story makes no since in football, No more wins for you.
St. Vincent and Valle...Valle..But might be closer than than would think if it's raining..
Ste. Gen. and Maplewood..Not as close for me as others think..Maplewood by 21 plus if its not to wet...closer if field conditions are bad..Rain soaked field..this will be close..
Anxious to see Jackson -Farmington outcome.
Jackson I think is a new look.....Farmington just seems to run that same effective offense.
I see Jackson's defense being key
Chaffee's QB is back this week.
Thanks Ref.
SG's gonna blow MRH out, no contest. They are just too good this year. I look for them to run the table on all they face this year.

Chaffee's QB threw for 342 against Grandview people. Hayti played quality teames in Thayer and Charleston. Chaffee does not have the speed to keep up with Hayti. Even if it pours down rain Hayti wins by 21. I repeat Grandview...
