Class 4 must be down this year.

That was not a rip on Sikeston sideline just saying they put 3 2-1 teams above the rest of the undefeated teams.

Not down at all Beef. The loss for Helias was by one in overtime to Harrisonville. The loss for Harrisonville was to Savannah. And the loss for Liberty North was to a strong Class 5 team. Liberty North, Harrisonville, and Savannah are all in a very strong Kansas City area and play quality every week.

  • Sikeston is essentially riding off their success in the past. I personally don't see them getting past sectionals.

I disagree a bit. Do I think they are the sixth best team in Class 4? No, not at this point and they probably won't be even after everything is really clicking. However, they can win their district and would compete with and probably beat anybody in District 2. There is no sectional anymore so that would mean you think they either go out in the district final or in the quarterfinal. A semi-final run for Sikeston (or Cape) is not out of the question if you ask me. We are a different kind of team this year due to personnel. The strength is on the defensive side. While the pass defense needs some work, this team has allowed less than 400 total yards through three games and has only yielded two defensive touchdowns. Meanwhile, the offense just completed its first full game with their primary running back Chris Word who is a workhorse and were without their backup running back Marquez Newman against New Madrid as well. The team scored 47 in the first game with both guys. I hope that shows that they can go off. The wide receivers are gaining more confidence but struggle and the offensive line is inexperienced and on the smaller side but just because this Sikeston team doesn't win 49-6 each week like those VERY good teams from 09 & 10 doesn't mean they can't win their conference, their district, or can make a playoff run.

  • I wonder if Portageville could beat East Buchanan?

  • Daddy, I'd think going 3-0 Potosi at least deserves a top 10. But that would make Bleed mad!

  • Portageville wont make it out of there district so we don't need to worry about a team all the way across the state

Breaking news: Potosi is the #10 team in Class 3 according to the Sportswriter's poll that came out today (featured on Brian Rosener's blog). I'm on my way to get roof fixed right now from the sky falling on it. Hopefully no flying pigs will come through and damage it more while I'm out.

  • Sideline, you CAN'T be serious! Thank God I replaced my roof last year. When is righteous order going to be restored to the world?

Bleed, I need to turn the sarcasm button on for you...

  • the class 3 polls so far this year are a disgrace. i wonder if the sportswriters know bourbon isn't on the team anymore? or they see him playing on saturdays and go "holy crap this kid is from potosi, they must be AMAZING since they're undefeated." for god's sake, they've played what would be 2 mediocre jv teams and a typical perryville team. potosi doesn't have a quality win yet! park hills if anyone has had the only REAL quality win. i wonder what will happen to SG when they put 60 on potosi this friday? number 1 in the state? seeing a bad potosi team ranked in state is like catching your grandparents... you know...

  • sideline- I had that in mind. I was say that Sikeston would win its district tournament and then probably get knocked out.

-- Posted by paulbd on Tue, Sep 11, 2012, at 3:36 PM
  • I don't know if Portageville would beat them. They have been playing very well, but there toughest opponent so far has been Malden.

  • SG's third string should wreck shop the entire 3rd and 4th qtrs!
