New Madrid County Central at Caruthersville - Caruthersville, still see a LOONNGGG night for the Eagles
Chaffee at Scott City - Scott City, based on stats only.
Cleveland NJROTC at Charleston (Saturday)- Cleveland
Kennett at Dexter - Dexter, I'm giving the edge of the winless to Dexter being at home. However I do think if Kennett ever gets things figured out they could be a tough team.
East Prairie at Malden - Malden
Portageville at Hayti - Toss up to me, go Hayti at home. Agree with Sideline, would be a good game to see.
Maplewood at Perryville - MRH
Life for Life at St. Vincent - St Vincent
Fredericktown at Potosi - Fredericktown, but should be a whale of a game. I would not be surprised with a hopped up crowd the trojans pull out a win.
Ste. Genevieve at Park Hills Central - PHC I know BG, but how healthy are both teams after maulings by MRH? I'm going PHC since it's at their place. Another great match-up IMO.
Grandview at Valle - Valle
Poplar Bluff at Sikeston - Sikeston. Watched some of the Dome game, really like what I saw there. Production value of the "broadcast" itself left something to be desired. I wouldn't call the crew doing that television program even amateur...
Jackson at Cape Central - Jackson. I've bought into the Jackson hype...
-- Posted by mojo3 on Mon, Sep 17, 2012, at 11:30 AM
I don't think Jackson has been tested this year by playing anyone good. Cape really buffed up their schedule and have played decent against those high power schools. I think Cape wins by 14 because of their speed, home field, and the teams they have played so far have prepared them for this game.
-- Posted by CTalum5 on Mon, Sep 17, 2012, at 11:49 AM
Mojo I can tell u this Roth and Roe and Meyer are all playing Friday Schweny is getting MRI today they believe it's just a slight strain he's 50/50! That's all I know for now. It will be a great game to early for my prediction but early favorite is PHC as of now!
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Mon, Sep 17, 2012, at 12:16 PM
Jackson's leading rusher Proffer is banged up.I haven't herd how serious it is but he didn't play hardly at all in second half. I also herd there fastest receiver Wright had a ankle injury. If these two kids cant go. I'd have to give the edge to Cape. If they do play I think there very evenly matched. Maybe Jackson's schedule has been soft. But based on how both teams played Poplar Bluff I don't see a big advantage either way.Plus they played Farmington about the same as Sikeston did. In my opinion Cape,Jackson and Sikeston are very evenly matched.

I think Kennett is very capable of beating Dexter this year if they can have a good game.

New Madrid County Central at Caruthersville... c'ville by a bunches.
Chaffee at Scott City... i'll go with mojo on this one. scott city.
Cleveland NJROTC at Charleston (Saturday)... charleston. i don't know much about cleveland except there's a town in ohio called clevelend that sucks at sports.
Kennett at Dexter... if this was at kennet i'd say kennett but dexter might just pull this off at home.
East Prairie at Malden... do the wave! malden in a good one.
Portageville at Hayti... hayti will be throwing up H's late in the 4th when they take their first lead to win this one late.
Maplewood at Perryville... perryville just needs to forfeit. i'm dead serious. they don't need their starters to get killed. they don't have the depth for this game.
St. Vincent at Life for Life... st. vinny by alot.
Fredericktown at Potosi... well i'm not gonna say anything but i'd love to see freddy win. but the past 2 years i've talked smack before this game and it's bitten me in the butt.
Ste. Genevieve at Park Hills Central... i don't care what you say Bleed Green, park hills will win. it will be a mirror image of the game i went to last year with you.
Grandview at Valle... HAHA. a good stat game for valle's boys.
Poplar Bluff at Sikeston... watched them in the dome. leaps and bounds above famrington, which i didn't necessarily expect to see. if you asked me this last week, i'd go with bluff. but sikeston in a close one.
Jackson at Cape Central... jackson. but i haven't bought into the hype JUUUUUST yet... we'll see after this.

If you haven't forgotten SG won that game Dork!! So if it's a mirror image we win!! Daddy SG run D is legit PHC might run a little but not anything close to last year!! Plus it sounds like we r getting healthy

-- Posted by BuckMajor on Wed, Sep 19, 2012, at 8:38 PM
Ah I just saw on the other thread where beef said it might be 3-4 week injury so they will prolly rest him until the bye week. I guess that's the best, I know y'all will want him 100% come playoff time.
-- Posted by BuckMajor on Wed, Sep 19, 2012, at 8:41 PM
Hey buck I will listen to the coaches show tomorrow on the radio and let you know for sure. I know have the team to win without him but if he is able to go and at 100% he will play. If he has the slightest amount of doubt or discomfort he should sit it out til after the bye week.
-- Posted by wheresthebeef on Wed, Sep 19, 2012, at 9:22 PM
Thanks man! I like that y'all have a coaches show, that's pretty cool. Yeah I deffinately think if he has any discomfort at all, he should just sit it out. It's not like they are going to need him haha! It's going to be such a LOOOOONG night I'm bringing a sleeping bag lol!

Well if you are going to be there I would like to meet up with you. I am gonna take off of work about 30 minutes early so I can get up there in time. Top of the bleachers 50 yard line right underneath the pressbox. Me and Cheese will be there for sure.

Yeah, Crader updates that when she has time I believe. I think I missed two total points which isn't bad but won't vault me close to the lead or anything. Want to know what is sad? I'm playing in the NWMO (Northwest Missouri) Pick 'Em on MoSports and after four weeks am somehow tied for third....out of 40+. I've never seen a team from NWMO play football in my life.
-- Posted by sideline starter on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 11:42 AM
I only missed 1 point this week and was 1 point off tie-breaker. If I played NWMO football pickem, I would be dead last lol.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 11:44 AM
Also Reddirt Dog, I was just told by a very reliable source that Darrell is out again this week. He should be back after our by week next week. So Kennett should get a healthy dose of him when he returns.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 12:39 PM
Just found out, our freshman RB Roderick Jones is out for tomorrow night as well. Not sure who we are going to plug in there but all of our backs are out now. Geez, these injuries are killing us.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 2:50 PM
Been a little quiet on here the last few days!! Wonder why? So I've been doing some thinking about this weeks games and this is what I've come up with. SIKESTON JACKSON VALLE FREDDY ST VINCENT HAYTI CVILLE MWOOD the rest I could care less! But now got the big game of the week! I read a lot of these predictions and I ask myself are a lot of u serious! I keep hearing PHC is gonna play keep away there going to control the game on the ground! Have any of you seen SG D against the run? This isn't last year but it will be the same outcome! SG gets back some huge starters and should have PHC shaking there head early in the ball game SG wins BIG 35-13 and that my friends is that. See ya in The Leadbelt tomorrow night make sure you bring your POPCORN! Oh and a gas mask it stinks over there!! Haha
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 3:03 PM
Dang, Cheese I think their prolly gonna ask you to run!!
-- Posted by BuckMajor on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 3:07 PM
LOL.. I'm still young, I could do it. I may take a week to recover from it lol.
We will probably just plug in a receiver back there. We should be fine either way. We spread the ball around pretty good. He didn't get near the carries Darrell got so we should go back to business as usual. I think this will be a good game though. Cville still wins by 2 td's.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 3:11 PM
Cheesehead, did Jones get hurt in the JV game against Dexter on Monday? We won that game 22-6 and I was just wondering if he played for the Tigers JV too? I didn't get to see that game as I was out of town, but I was just sure he was going to eat us up.
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 3:11 PM
Preacher, I didn't go to the game so I don't know if he played or not. I'm not even sure if it's an injury that is keeping him out. I know what I heard but don't want to say on here to avoid all the bickering. All I know is that he is not available for tomorrow night! I'll know more about it tonight during the coaches show on the radio. I'm just glad we have the athletes to keep putting back there.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 3:14 PM
Preacher I doubt that Rod would play in a JV game with him playing a tough game Friday night. I seen him in the press box Tuesday night during the middle school game while the rest of the team was practicing a block down the road. We got somebody to stick in that backfield until D-MO gets healthy.
-- Posted by wheresthebeef on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 3:56 PM
BG....where do you "keep hearing" that?
-- Posted by zachattack on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 4:26 PM
Zach that's all Ive been hearing I played in a golf tournament yesterday "shot a 64 in a 2 man if any one cares" and there were a few Rebel fans and that's all they were talking about! My best friend works at a bank and the guy who runs that office supply store keeps talking some mad crap about the game I'm guessing he's a rebel alum!! Zach you know as well as I do if PHC gets down there in trouble not to mention Schweiss has a tendency to do really stupid things when he gets nervous "remember last year I do" he choked big time had the game won decided to get pretty and lost the game that his kids played hard to win and should of won and he just got out coached in the 2 game trying to come out with the same game plan against the 2 best coaches around! Not smart at all! See ya tomorrow night I'm sure u will hear me
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 4:40 PM
nobody cares about your golf score ya chump! and if park hills don't do nuthin to dern fancy, they could definitely put up a win. and i'll hear your loud mouth all the way in potosi!
-- Posted by TheDaddy on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 4:53 PM
Shut it! Oh and I got ya an youth large for sat haha and don't go up on the hill there in potosi I don't want u to get beat up ya chump
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 4:57 PM
a youth large does equal about a medium in adult sizes. dont forget your depends for the long drive down here. i know your undersized bladder cant handle a 4 hour drive. and i'm actually going to park up there and have some frosty cold ones with those guys before the game.

Sounds good Daddy!! And Zach I told u I dont write checks I can't cash!! I'm 2-0 going head to head with u! Fixing to be 3-0 no matter what though I hope it's a good clean game and both teams avoid the injury bug!!
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 5:37 PM
you you're gonna be calling me daddy saturday when my predictions are spot on...
-- Posted by TheDaddy on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 5:44 PM
I hope your right Preacher! Our defense is pretty tough since we figured out who needs to be where. Now I don't think we have a weak spot on defense. Our run defense is very good and it's very difficult to pass on us. Good Luck to your Bearcats tomorrow night! Hope you guys get the win.

Seems to me PHC beat MRH by keeping the offense off the field and when MRH got desperate, they made mistakes. Prob. the only good strategy PHC has had in awhile and could work again. PHC's D should give the Dragons some fits. If they play keep-away, and keep a lead, Rebels win. If they are losing going into the fourth, look for Central to play stupid.
-- Posted by mojo3 on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 7:50 PM
Bleed ,Zach or both of ya ,could you post updates ,highlites of the game tomorow? Will be working and I need any imformation you can give me.Should be a good game, hopefully the Dragons come home with a victory. This 2nd shift really sucks on fridays. Thanks

Who think wins in this rivalry.....Scott City or Chaffee?
My vote goes to Scott City
-- Posted by SportsMediaInformant on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 8:29 PM
I definitely like PH Central's chances. If they win....they win. If they lose.....they gave 110% and fell short.
This conversation will resume tomorrow night....for better or for worse!
-- Posted by zachattack on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 8:40 PM
Shortbus, why do you think Kennett will beat Dexter for the first time in 13 years?
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 9:53 PM
i'll try and give updates on freddy and isotop.
-- Posted by TheDaddy on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 9:53 PM
Dexter will beat Kennett by more that 14 points IMO. They have played a brutal schedule and Kennett has been down for many years. I just don't see them keeping up with Dexter.
Side note: Jamal Johnson will carry the load at running back tomorrow night. He's not a bruiser like Monroe but he is pretty quick and a very good athlete so we should be fine using him.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 10:05 PM
That's what I think too Cheesehead, Dexter by 2 or 3 TD's.
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 10:14 PM
Don't get me wrong, Dexter is a good program that has played a devastatingly rough schedule. They are young and are going to be back near the top of District 1 quickly, no doubts. But if there's a year to be upset by Kennett, it could happen this year.
Putting my pick in perspective though, I'm a SEMO North man.
SG/Valle/PHC/Fred/Potosi are the teams I'm more familiar with. Regardless, if you take a rivalry and the team that has been down for years smells blood in the water they will always play above themselves.
Or they get whooped and my pick is wrong. LOL
-- Posted by Shortbus on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 10:15 PM
Who knows Shortbus, Kennett may come out and be a completely different team Friday night and put it to Dexter. Lot's of games I'm interested in tomorrow night and that's one of them.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 10:19 PM
I think Jamal will impress some people tomorrow carrying the football. I have never seen him at the RB position just gotta hold on to the ball and he should put up 100yds easily.
-- Posted by wheresthebeef on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 10:28 PM
I just don't think Kennett's defense can keep them in the game. They've given up alot of points to some weak teams. Paragould was winless until last week and they hung 47 points on Kennett. I think the key is for us to get on the Indians early and never let them in the game.
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 10:32 PM
just like potosi at freddy last year, shortbus. they had it close late and freddy was struggling to stop them. faked a field goal and won it late. that's the type of game i'm expecting from the dexter/kennett game. if its close either way. look for something special to happen late. same goes for the freddy/potosi game. unless freddy can get out to an early lead and keep it at 2 td's or more at halftime, look out! potosi might be in business. especially with those stupid squib kicks they've killed us with the past 4 years. >:[
-- Posted by TheDaddy on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 10:35 PM
The only thing that really concerns me any on the Fred/Potosi game is the pass defense on the side of the Black Cats. Should Potosi establish any running game the score could soar with Potosi's passing attack. Fred will score and often though.
I look for Fred to play defense and walk away with this one easily, not making a game of it like we did last week.
-- Posted by Shortbus on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 11:00 PM
I think Cville prolly will win tomorrow. But I don't know about anyone getting 100 yards easily. NMCC has only given up 33 points over the last 3 games, averaging 11 a game. They held sikeston to 12, Kennett to 7, and charleston to 14, and none of them were using a 4th string running back who's never ran before. Once again, I think it'll be a good game, and no knock to this kid, they just haven't let anyone get 100 yards easily. But who knows, I'll prolly be way off haha. Still predicting a LONG night lol.

That's what we thought too, Buck. But the Tiger OL is just so big and strong, led by the Twin Towers, that even their third and fourth string RB's can have a big game.
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 11:11 PM
from what i have heard, but yet to see, is that freddy's pass defense is the best it's been in years. but nobody has tested it. (correct me if i'm wrong) so only time will tell! how is potosi's passing game this year? how is the rushing game? i think if they have a qb like they had in marler and receivers like they had in eye, rogers, cain, and that RB they had last year is better than last year, then freddy could get thrown on all day like in 2010. but it could end up being like in 2007 when freddy only allows 2 offensive td's. this could possibly be decided by special teams like in 2008 when potosi recovered 2 onside kicks and won by 5. i always get excited for these big time conference match ups with potosi and freddy! a little in home rivalry for me as well! haha
-- Posted by TheDaddy on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 11:17 PM
Oh I'm sure they can! NMCC has only allowed 3 people to rush for over 100 yards this year, Caruthersville has also allowed 3 people to rush for over 100 yards (couldn't find any stats on the dexter game, maybe preach knows if one of their guys got over 100). Our DL may not be able to match their OL, but our secondary is pretty quick.
-- Posted by BuckMajor on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 11:41 PM
Nope, Buck, we barely managed over 100 yds. in total offense for the game against Caruthersville. The Tigers have an outstanding defense as well. They force alot of turnovers and that helps their injury-riddled offense. Caruthersville's only problem is that for some reason they are a slow-starting team and then really seem to get it going in the 2nd half. I can't explain that, but it seems to be a trend for them. Maybe Cheese or Beef can explain that. So if NMCC wants to compete with them, they need to start fast, score early, build a first half lead, and force the Tigers to throw more than they want to. But good luck with that!
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Thu, Sep 20, 2012, at 11:53 PM
Yeah sounds easier said than done haha! I think cvilles line play will decide this one. I know Cville has a great line. That is going to help them open holes on offense, and could hurt out run game a lot.
-- Posted by BuckMajor on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 12:06 AM
The next couple weeks will tell that's for sure. Potosi's passing attack is pretty good. QB not as mobile as Marler but the kid can chuck it down field and they have the receivers toget downfield to make plays. Keep them playing catchup by scoring a few times and negate the running game seems to be key. Then its up to the great athletes in Fred's secondary. Between Potosi, MRH and of course the Dragons there will be some big tests for the black cats in the coming weeks. Dammit there's some good football being played in District 1 this year.
Every week it's another big game.
-- Posted by Shortbus on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 2:03 AM
Actually, Buck.....when Sikeston played NMCC, it WAS our 4th string tailback. Ernest Fobbs (a freshman) started that night. Chris Word, Marquez Newman, and Pat Gross were all out that night. NMCC did play pretty good against us, though.
-- Posted by Rocket689 on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 8:22 AM
thats true, but he didnt rush for over a hundred yards though. barely 50. Kyland Gross might be the quarterback, but he is deffinately yalls best rusher considering he is the only one to rush for over a 100 yards this year. He has done that 3 times.
-- Posted by BuckMajor on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 8:45 AM
Daddy & Shorty,
From what I've seen so far, the pass defense the Blackcats have put up has been pretty decent, but they haven't faced a heavy pass attack. The only team I'd say who was maybe pass heavy was Kennett. Just went back to look at stats on that game, they were 5-12 with one INT for 117 total yards. The McPherson kid had 2 catches for 89 yards, I vaguely remember those two long runs. Similar to the PHC game, most of the passing yards were from the two TD catches, one a screen and the other a down-field pass to a man-to-man situation where the defender did a slip and fall. Courtois was listed at 7 for 8 and 124 yards from a paper story I saw and posted earlier, but 126 or so of the yards were the two TD strikes. The other 5 catches had to have been screens taken for a loss.
I think the 'Cats D is pretty well balanced. The trojans may be able to get some passes down-field, but I don't think there will be many yards after-catch. And as everyone knows, once you get down into the Red Zone, a bunched up defense is much more difficult to pass against for a score.
And as Shorty says, there's some really good football being played in Dist 1 in ALL classes, with tonight maybe the best night!
-- Posted by mojo3 on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 8:50 AM
It's a mystery to me to Preacher. I've never understood why it takes us two quarters to get going. We paid the price for that against Liberty. Other than the 2nd Quarter, that was a competitive game. I'm not sure Jamal Johnson will rush for over 100 yards because we spread the ball around pretty well since Darrell has been out. I think this will be a very competitive game seeing we have so many kids out but I still like us to win 23-13
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 8:52 AM
Jackson is the best team in Semo, and they are going to continue to get better .
-- Posted by stlscott on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 10:37 AM
You could be right stlscott but, I feel in order to verify that, they need to beat both Cape and Sikeston this year. If they do that, then there is no doubt in my mind they are the best team in Semo.

SG 14-13 this game is ugly SG is clearly the better team PHC has scored on 2 passes on missed tackles PHC has maybe 30 yds on the ground

Yes, clearly. Lol.

7-6 potosi over Freddy
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 8:07 PM
Other then the first drive cape had had a hard time moving the ball against Jackson. They had a long run back on a kick off that set up there second score. Jackson has done a good job shouting down there run game. Jackson turned the ball over 3 times. But has moved the ball very good.
-- Posted by oldschoolbballer on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 8:31 PM
SG wins what a call by coach stotzer going for the win down 1 2 min left and what a run by Dallas SG played bad had 3 to lost there QB and still won oh and what about the ground and pound SG Run D shut down there all American RB hate to say it but I TOLD U SO
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 9:22 PM
SG pulled out a 22-21 win. Congrats.
SG looked OK....nothing too mindboggling. They pulled out a win by going for two. It was a gutsy call that paid off.
-- Posted by zachattack on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 9:47 PM
Come on BG give PHC credit they gave SG all they wanted for 4 quarters, you give excuses why they scored and this that and the other. Congratulate the other team on a game well played. Those are 14-18 year old kids out there.

35-22 Dogs.

To Buckmajor and the rest of the NMCC squad. I saw some bright spots in your game tonight on both sides of the ball. I know the penalties killed us tonight but I guess that's something that we are going to have to live with because it happens every week.
I don't have an official number for Jamal running the ball but it was well over 100 yards and yes he got it easily lol...I think he broke a few for over 20 yards.
-- Posted by wheresthebeef on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 10:13 PM
Sikeston played Bluff....possibly the worst crew of officials I have seen. I have always heard that officials are supposed to blend, and not control every single aspect of the game...
if that's the case, these guys failed miserably.
Sikeston wins 19-7,,,,,,,but an ugly poorly called game. this crew gets the lowest grade I can give them

Portageville beat Hayti 35-22
-- Posted by BSG99 on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 10:16 PM
Cape spent the night chasing that extra point that they missed after the first touchdown. If they hit all the XP's then Jackson goes for one at the end of the game instead of 2 to go up by 3. Would have went to overtime...Great high school game even though my team lost. Good luck to Jackson...
-- Posted by bulletman on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 10:17 PM
Headhunt I would like to challenge for the worst officiating crew tonight. There were 3 calls that the NMCC coaching staff made 2 were on the opposite side of the field from where the play was taking place. I know the refs throw flags when the coaches point out the obvious but dang you came there to call a game don't let the coaches call it for you.
-- Posted by wheresthebeef on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 10:20 PM
Portageville over Hayti 35-22, great game BUT
give Hayti some credit. they have an awesome air attack, just too many turnovers.
Portageville's pass defense is their greatest weakness. The pound on the ground prevails.
-- Posted by sawdust49 on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 10:23 PM
It was an ugly second half all around for Sikeston. The offense did not execute as well as it should have and when it did, they had the zebras against them. Defense held steady and shutout the offense (PB's only TD was on a Sikeston fumble in the endzone). Need to look better next week.
-- Posted by sideline starter on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 10:28 PM
I tell you this all week long everyone said PHC this and that everyone on here gave SG 0% chance of winning you can say excuses PHC was avg probably over 200 yds a game rushing they didn't even have 50! I don't care what Zach says SG had 3 TO and A couple of missed tackles one which Roe tried to go for int and missed! And other if he just breaks down its 4 down and 6 he goes high and misses! I will say this PHC has a great player in #12 I heard he's a freshman if so skies the limit! SG is missing 3 starters they lost there starting QB for a quarter and being honest did not play that well still find a way to win this team is very scary! And Mad Props to our QB if u watched the game u know why I'm really impressed. The PHC talk is over time to move!!
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 10:29 PM
Jackson played a very sloppy game on offence tonight. I havent seen Selsor try to force the ball like that. They are very lucky to come out with the win. Have to give credit to Cape's defense for there secondary playing so tuff.
-- Posted by oldschoolbballer on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 10:39 PM
At least I picked SG to win lol
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 10:41 PM
Dexter finally got in the win column with a hard fought win over Kennett. Ryan Joyner rushed for over 100 yds tonight for the first time this season. QB DJ Dowdy was 10-15 passing the ball with nearly 200 yds in the air. Defense was dominant tonight and OL was better, esp. in the 2nd half. Looking forward to playing NMCC next week.
One mystery to me is why Kennett is not playing senior RB Darrius Warren more. He rushed for 1200 yds last season. Tonight he only played on kickoffs and most of the third qtr at RB. And its been that way all season. A Kennett coach told me it's not due to injury so it must a discipline problem. I hope they get it resolved because he's too good a football player to keep on the sideline.

-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 10:51 PM
Thanks Cheese! The boys certainly earned it. They've been thru a real baptism by fire early in the season and seem to be battle-tested now.
Let me ask you this Cheese. Having seen NMCC and Dexter play, how do you think they match up? Any early insights on next week's game? Maybe you and Beef could both weigh in on that game.
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 10:54 PM
I think Dexter has the better defense but I would give NMCC the node on Offense. To be honest, I think it will be a great game. I think it comes down to how Dowdy plays. You can pass on NMCC. Not big at all on the line. I will say this, their secondary is very athletic so I don't think Dexter will have big plays. I think Dexter would win in a tight one 21-18.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 10:59 PM
Actually PHC had 85 yards rushing and 125 passing. What I don't understand is how SG is a class act of a program, yet week after week you represent SG in a way that makes us look like braggarts in a very unsportsmanlike manner. This is not how the vast majority of us approach the program. We dont have to justify ourselves, we let the scoreboard and our play on the field speak for itself.
The game I saw had two awesome programs take a game down to the wire with the outcome going our way this time. This game could have gone to the Rebels very easily. What a great game with SG getting a sweet victory and hats off to the Rebels for a hard fought contest.
BG as the guy said before, these are kids playing a game. They're going to make mistakes and you don't see them making excuses or taunting the other team after doing well against one of the best backs in the area. Our play speaks for the dragons. Chill out a bit man.
-- Posted by Shortbus on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 11:05 PM
Maplewood was on their best behavior tonight at Perryville. Only one hit that could be a cheap shot as a guy was scoring 10 yards ahead of the crack back but it was a doozy of a hit. I will say this, it would be very difficult to referee a Maplewood game because they push the limit. They play til the whistle blows and that is great but they love those blind side crack backs and hitting as the whistle blows. I say Maplewood loses in the final 4 to a physical, disciplined team that tackles well. They could win class 2 with athleticism but I would think someone will outplay thier athleticism.

Wow, big win P'ville! Getting a new coach and a fresh system has really paid off for you and Jackson. Seems like there are a few other teams that need to follow suit. (Kennet, NMCC). NMCC has really hit rock bottom in all their sports. What has happened down there? Ealy sure made their programs look good for a few years. Kennet you do have basketball to look forward to. Dexter, you finally got that monkey off your back. Next week we'll see which brother is the "best". Malden is still improving, and we'll see tomorrow if Charleston is.

-- Posted by deckerd31 on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 11:12 PM
Thanks for the insight, Cheese. My initial impression was NMCC might be a little better on defense than us, and we might have a little better offense. But like you, I expect a close game that Dexter will pull out, esp. if their QB McDaniel doesn't play again.
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Fri, Sep 21, 2012, at 11:16 PM
I wouldnt say ALL of NMCC's sports programs hit rock bottom, there basketball team looks very good this year and baseball had there first winning seanon sinnce 2001 and upseted Jackson and Sikeston, but in football they have. they will be better when all the sophomores like #10 Mikeal Walker, #1 TJ Clark, and i really like to see#4 Malik Stevenson get some playing time
-- Posted by Warrhead on Sat, Sep 22, 2012, at 12:24 AM
McDaniel will be playing against Dexter unless something happens between now and then. He got in trouble at school for his phone being out of his pocket and couldn't play tonight. So he isn't injured or anything. It should be a very good game!!
-- Posted by BuckMajor on Sat, Sep 22, 2012, at 12:25 AM
The Jackson vs. Cape game was what people want out of a high school football game. It was a hard nosed game played by both sides. Bulletman hit the nail on the head about the extra point.
I just didn't understand it why the Jackson administration let their student body storm the track and run a lap around the field taunting the Cape fan base! Did they want a possible fight to break out? I mean don't tarnish the hard fought win your team just had by acting like this was the first game against Cape that you have ever won. Celebrate with your team! As one of my coaches used to say to us..."Act like you been here before and stay humble".
-- Posted by NewTigerFan on Sat, Sep 22, 2012, at 12:28 AM
Yeah beef he did get the 100 yards haha and easily lol. But like I said I took those statements all back when I heard McDaniel was out. He is by far our best defensive player, and leader on offense. Caruthersville I thought played very well, man y'all have a big line! Good luck in weeks to come!
-- Posted by BuckMajor on Sat, Sep 22, 2012, at 12:34 AM
Congrats to SG on a win. And come on BG gets on here and just speaks his mind. He does not represent the entire program, so what's the problem? People get so upset about somebody who has a strong opinion about anything these days. Is Alabama classes? Because there fans are the worst. Point being BG is man enough to say things and stand behind them which is a character trait almost nobody has these days. People hide behind a computer name or won't defend there opinion when challenged. Love Em
Or hate Em, BG is gonna tell you how he feels.

Let's get this straight right now I do not in any way represent SG or it's Program! I am 35 years old and if you are a SG fan u know who I am I am not liked by most of our adminastration do I care NO because I don't like most of them! I am not liked by our head coach That's ok cause although I have a lot of respect for his coaching ability I believe that people who live in GLASS houses should not throw STONES! I have a lot of love for SG football for my own personal reasons! I don't bother anyone I get on here and say what's going threw my mind and sometimes it's right and sometimes it's wrong but you guys jump me about saying things about players! Who I don't attack but you get on here and slam me because of my opinions and that's all they are! And if you lived in SG you know that's there a lot more like me but there just not man enough to say it cause they don't want people to judge them!! Guess what I've been getting judged since I was 15 so I'm over it and I dont care what anyone thinks of me!!
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Sat, Sep 22, 2012, at 8:49 AM
Get this straight, if you're on here and you say you're a SG fan you DO represent your school. You may not like it but what people do is correlate well that guy is from SG thats how all SG fans are, and it'd the same for TheDaddy, ZachAttack, Sideline and on and on. It's not an official title no one is directly affiliated with the school to represent, but the fact is we do portray ourselves as fans of a school and that in itself brings about representation of ones particular school

No it dosnt and if it does then I'm the Black sheep of the family! Here it is you either going to like me or hate me and if u hate me for what I say on here or from what you think u know then you are no better then what you are saying I am get it? Like it or not I'm going to tell u what I think if you don't like it DON'T READ IT!!! And quit being a bunch of babies you said he was horrible! Really these kids now days are so protected don't wanna hurt poor Johnny's feelings cause he might start crying! What ever happen to suck it up quit your darn pouting and get out there and play the dang game if not I'll find someone who will! I tell u this right now my 11 years old daughter is tougher then most teenage boy's now days thats because I tell her how it is and I don't sugar coat it and I teach her that negativity is fuel to feed the fire prove them wrong take it and let it motivate u and that's how u build character not by putting them in a bubble and shutting them off to any negativity!!

Jackson's fans ran a victory lap? Wow if I was a Cape fan I probably would tackled a few! Zach could u imagine what PH fans would if done if SG would of done that to Them! Wouldn't of been pretty! To me that was a bad decision on Jackson's adminastration.

-- Posted by zachattack on Sat, Sep 22, 2012, at 12:40 PM
Jackson fans really did that? There wasn't a riot?
Daddy, I and a couple others were wondering what the refs would do if the FredMo pep club and others would have rushed the field in Potosi after the game last night, especially with the flag to the stadium announcer earlier. Plus five cops came into our stands midway in the fourth quarter and escorted someone out for some reason Don't know who it was or why. I was just glad to get the heck out of Potosi with the first win there in ten years.
-- Posted by mojo3 on Sat, Sep 22, 2012, at 2:39 PM
Mojo I don't blame ya! Remember last week people from Potosi got on here and trashed me for saying that there sophomore WR was ok and that he wouldn't do that again! From what I heard he was no were to be found! I hate going to Potosi they are by far way worse then I could ever be! Ya seriously they are haha. Can't wait to play Freddy in 2 weeks they will be a tall task plus it's homecoming and if u know anything about coach stotzer it's he hates homecoming really bad! I know Freddy can't stop us but I also think we can't stop Freddy's pass either! I think one of the things that kept it from getting out of hand was the the the announcer said 2 differnt times for the jackson fans to getting of the running track right now and they
did do what was said right away. Also I have to say it was one of the best played and enterinig football games i have seen in a while.

The Jackson and Cape game was a good game if you were a fan, but not if you are a coach. There was a lot of mistakes and a couple big plays given up by Jackson. I will admit the central running back is pretty solid. Cape is not a bad team and I think they have a shot at winning their district. I wish Cape the best of luck the rest of the season. Now sideline, was the officiating that bad in the sikeston and bluff game?
-- Posted by redhawk11 on Sat, Sep 22, 2012, at 4:27 PM
Charleston won 38-0
-- Posted by minn13 on Sat, Sep 22, 2012, at 4:41 PM
I don't think Jackson played too sloppy offensively. They just met a solid group of defensive backs. They'll face the same type of defense with sikeston so they might need to step that up a little.
Cape did not play well last night either. The defense gave up some big completions and let up a little on the line at times, but it is high school football afterall, it happens.
As for the Jackson students running the track. That was classless. I don't go to Cape, merely a fan, but I would be disappointed if our student section did that. I believe that past cape central students would have taken out a few Indian's for that.
-- Posted by CapeAlum on Sat, Sep 22, 2012, at 5:38 PM
Redhawk, it was not good but Sikeston hurt themselves enough without their help. There was a phantom block in the back call in the third on a long TD run by Gross that just halted all momentum for Sikeston and the floodgates of penalties just opened from there. Gibbs was not happy with the officiating crew if that is any indication. He normally doesn't react at all otherwise. It didn't decide the game though. Sikeston made a lot of mistakes and the PB defense did well. What kept the game close was the fact that the Sikeston offensive line is thin right now and they were tired in the second half. A couple players were sick, not injured though, so they will be back to full strength next week. Sikeston defense did just as fine as always. Didn't allow a touchdown. They really are a great unit. If that phantom block in the back isn't called, it is a 25-7 game which is probably about where both teams scores should have been. We need to look better to beat Jackson next week but it isn't like either team is phenomenally better than the other.
-- Posted by sideline starter on Sat, Sep 22, 2012, at 6:36 PM
Sideline---I think a LOT of Coach Gibbs and if he thinks the officiating was suspect then I would imagine it was suspect. Haven't seen you guys play yet but Jackson is pretty good. If you have decent defensive backs then you should be fine as I'm sure you will have more team speed. Cape missed that extra point on the first touchdown and chased that point all night..Good Luck next week.
-- Posted by bulletman on Sat, Sep 22, 2012, at 11:09 PM
I appreciate it Bullet. It will be a hard fought game on Friday. I'm hoping my Bulldogs will come out with the win but I definitely suspect it will be a close and entertaining game. I almost think that whoever gets in the 20's is going to be the winner. Expect some good matchups all over the field. And I would expect that the Sikeston administration will have some tight security in place in case Jackson wants to try that little running around the track stunt again.
-- Posted by sideline starter on Sun, Sep 23, 2012, at 12:03 AM
yea bullet, i totally agree. when he was playing at freddy he would take us out of the game if we said anything about the officiating! and i hardly ever heard him say anything to a referee as well. i may not like sikeston a whole lot but i respect gibbs and have from the day i stepped on the field for him.
-- Posted by TheDaddy on Sun, Sep 23, 2012, at 12:10 AM
I'm just curious "TheDaddy", why do you not like Sikeston? Aren't you from Fredericktown? There wouldn't be many run-ins with Sikeston......just wondering.
-- Posted by semohoops on Sun, Sep 23, 2012, at 1:18 AM
Sideline... I'm not taking up for the Jackson fans just cause I'm from Jackson but who cares about the students running around the track. Maybe cape would have done the same thing, you never know. People quit bringing that up. The kids from both teams played hard and that's what it should be about. Sideline... Cape is not bad at all. That #85 running back is really good. Also, #2 coming is not bad either. I think people should give cape a lot of credit.

Cape is definitely a quality team. How many teams could start 2-3 and still be the #2 seed in their district? I really think the first Sikeston-Cape game will decide who has homefield in the second, district championship game. And sorry to bring up the running on the track thing. I've just not heard about fans doing that too often after winning a football game especially a regular season game. I know they were amped but there are more appropriate ways to go about things I think. Just wanted to give my two cents on the matter and I do not think anything less of the kids on the team or the coaching staff for the decisions of the fans.

Well I don't approve of what the student body did. But I also didn't approve Cape bringing out there soccer team who just beat the crap out of Jackson earlier. They announced the score and the soccer team turned to the Jackson crowed and rubbed it in. So I think both school got caught up in the hype of the rivalry. I don't think Jackson will do anything like that next week.

Hoops, FredMo played Sikeston I think in 2008 in FredMo and beat the 'Dawgs BAD. The next year we went down there and got a return trashing. I didn't go to the home game but did travel down to Sikeson in '09 for that game.

Jackson wont storm Sikestons track if they win, sikestons administration does not let people on the track
-- Posted by sikeston train on Sun, Sep 23, 2012, at 11:05 AM
Mojo, that game in 08 against Fred had a final of 42-29 and I believe Sikeston had the lead in the fourth at a point. If I remember right, they were also down 35-29 in the last minutes and threw a pick 6 that created the final margin. I wouldn't say Fred beat them bad.
-- Posted by sideline starter on Sun, Sep 23, 2012, at 11:10 AM
I don't think Capes administration allows people on the track either. Sounds like it just kinda happened.
-- Posted by BuckMajor on Sun, Sep 23, 2012, at 12:53 PM
If Caruthersville had a track and someone tried that here, that would be their last time doing that at Caruthersville, that's for sure. That's disrespectful and shouldn't be tolerated. I don't know much about the Sikeston fans but I'm almost certain, they won't do that in Sikeston if they win.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Sun, Sep 23, 2012, at 12:59 PM
I believe you on that one cheese haha. I'd be scared to do that in Caruthersville, man y'all had as many people hanging out around the concession stand and behind the stands than we're in the stands watching the game lol. Judging by that halftime performance, y'all should have a HUGE cheer squad in a few years haha! I liked that! Also, on that play with the flag that negated the touchdown, what I figured happened was that the guy wasnt back from Boomland with more fireworks yet, so they had to stall a few minutes ;)
-- Posted by BuckMajor on Sun, Sep 23, 2012, at 1:12 PM
Yeah I enjoyed them shooting off fireworks after touchdowns, it was a nice little touch to the game. Caruthersville used to stop all that lingering around the concession stand but it seems this year, they just stop caring about it. Now they have kids running around the bleachers getting in everyone's way with not one person from the school trying to make them sit down. It really does bother a lot of us fans but not much we can do about it. Most of them are kids who don't care about the game, they are just there to socialize. Us real fans are in the stands watching the game. Now you let them do that in the new gym and they will make them sit down and behave. Heck, you can't even eat or drink in the gym.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Sun, Sep 23, 2012, at 1:28 PM
Cheese does Cville allow fans to chew at the stadium? At SG last week they made 5 guys stop chewing around the track but then I walked over to concession stand and there were people smoking everywhere! I'd rather them chew then smoke.
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Sun, Sep 23, 2012, at 1:38 PM
Ha! Yeah you can chew at the game. I was talking about the new gym they built. They are very strict in there but they could care less what happens during a football game. Can't smoke on campus though, you would have to go across the street to smoke.

well in a previous thread i've talked about why i don't have an appreciation for most of sikeston. it involved someone (probably sideline) throwing a shake at me after a basketball game! i've been to sikeston a lot from when i moved to freddy in 2001 until last year. (baseball, football, basketball) and have never had a good experience there unless i ate at lamberts! but trust me a like sikeston a whole lot more than potosi or park hills. and to the comment about the game in '08. i thought it was a heck of a game by both teams. gibbs might have thought henson was trying to run up the score because he didnt shake any hands after the game! (running the ball in with less than a minute to go and the lead) here's the article from the daily journal.
-- Posted by TheDaddy on Sun, Sep 23, 2012, at 1:48 PM
Yeah I liked the fireworks cheese! We used to do that, not sure why we don't anymore. Not enough touchdowns I guess.
-- Posted by BuckMajor on Sun, Sep 23, 2012, at 2:19 PM
Ok thanks "TheDaddy" I was just curious. Fair enough. Thanks for the link to the article. I was at the game. I certainly wouldn't say Fredericktown won "BAD" as Mojo said, considering if Sikeston stops them on 4th down with less than two minutes to go then Sikeston wins the game.
-- Posted by semohoops on Sun, Sep 23, 2012, at 4:19 PM
freddy got lucky that game. that pick by gifford really sealed the deal. i think if sikeston would haven't have given the ball back to freddy they would have won.
-- Posted by TheDaddy on Sun, Sep 23, 2012, at 5:11 PM
That year in 2008 was kind of the beginning of Sikeston's resurgence. They improved a great deal from that Fredericktown game. They finished 5-5 and had a chance to beat Farmington in the last game but got stopped on 4th and 1 at the 10 yard line and lost by one. While they lost that game and competed in every game that year, it kind of signaled Sikeston's return to prominence. That was the year Sikeston changed its offense and really laid the foundation of the powerhouse they became the next year. Juqualin Wiggins coming out for football helped a little bit too :-)

I am also curious to know how everyone did in their picks last week? I was 9-4.
I don't think Jackson has been tested this year by playing anyone good. Cape really buffed up their schedule and have played decent against those high power schools. I think Cape wins by 14 because of their speed, home field, and the teams they have played so far have prepared them for this game.
Mojo I can tell u this Roth and Roe and Meyer are all playing Friday Schweny is getting MRI today they believe it's just a slight strain he's 50/50! That's all I know for now. It will be a great game to early for my prediction but early favorite is PHC as of now!

Plus it sounds like we r getting healthy
i also said SG will lose this game.
Anybody know how Kelly has been doing in football this year? I know they lost their first game to Scott City's JV 16-0. Anybody heard anything about their more recent games?
Beat Grandview in their second game earlier tonight 20-6. Congratulations to them on getting their first win for the program.
Thanks for the update Sideline. As a Kelly grad, it's a proud day for their school.

that made me literally laugh out loud. potosi might want that to happen this week vs. freddy though! (terrible inbred joke...)
Watch it you might resemble that remark daddy
whot yew taulkin bot mojo? yu done mesd wit da bull yu gon get dem hornes.
Cheese or Beef, I know y'all said you weren't sure if Monroe would play this week or not, you guys heard any word on how he's doing this week!?
Ah I just saw on the other thread where beef said it might be 3-4 week injury so they will prolly rest him until the bye week. I guess that's the best, I know y'all will want him 100% come playoff time.
Hey buck I will listen to the coaches show tomorrow on the radio and let you know for sure. I know have the team to win without him but if he is able to go and at 100% he will play. If he has the slightest amount of doubt or discomfort he should sit it out til after the bye week.
Hey Side.......pick um contest get derailed this past week ??
I won the Pickem last week but they still haven't contacted me about my ticket's I won lol. Oh well, going for a back to back this week.
Not sure what you are talking about Headhunt.
Cheese or Beef, any word on Monroe for this week?
We will know 100% tonight! As soon as I find out, I'll let ya know.
Side....I guess I wasn't seeing the week 4 pickum results ......... wondered when they give results, since the week 5 games are tomorrow night
Thanks Cheese.
I only missed 1 point this week and was 1 point off tie-breaker. If I played NWMO football pickem, I would be dead last lol.
Also Reddirt Dog, I was just told by a very reliable source that Darrell is out again this week. He should be back after our by week next week. So Kennett should get a healthy dose of him when he returns.
Just found out, our freshman RB Roderick Jones is out for tomorrow night as well. Not sure who we are going to plug in there but all of our backs are out now. Geez, these injuries are killing us.
Haha
Dang, Cheese I think their prolly gonna ask you to run!!
Cheesehead, did Jones get hurt in the JV game against Dexter on Monday? We won that game 22-6 and I was just wondering if he played for the Tigers JV too? I didn't get to see that game as I was out of town, but I was just sure he was going to eat us up.
Preacher I doubt that Rod would play in a JV game with him playing a tough game Friday night. I seen him in the press box Tuesday night during the middle school game while the rest of the team was practicing a block down the road. We got somebody to stick in that backfield until D-MO gets healthy.
BG....where do you "keep hearing" that?
See ya tomorrow night I'm sure u will hear me
nobody cares about your golf score ya chump! and if park hills don't do nuthin to dern fancy, they could definitely put up a win. and i'll hear your loud mouth all the way in potosi!
Shut it! Oh and I got ya an youth large for sat haha and don't go up on the hill there in potosi I don't want u to get beat up ya chump
a youth large does equal about a medium in adult sizes. dont forget your depends for the long drive down here. i know your undersized bladder cant handle a 4 hour drive. and i'm actually going to park up there and have some frosty cold ones with those guys before the game.
Golf.....pssssshhh
BG's check is gonna bounce.
Alligator mouth. Canary "butt"
Cheese, your defense will probably win you the game against NMCC Friday night. Good luck against the Eagles!
Sounds good Daddy!! And Zach I told u I dont write checks I can't cash!! I'm 2-0 going head to head with u! Fixing to be 3-0 no matter what though I hope it's a good clean game and both teams avoid the injury bug!!
you you're gonna be calling me daddy saturday when my predictions are spot on...
I hope your right Preacher! Our defense is pretty tough since we figured out who needs to be where. Now I don't think we have a weak spot on defense. Our run defense is very good and it's very difficult to pass on us. Good Luck to your Bearcats tomorrow night! Hope you guys get the win.

Good games:
1. Jackson at Cape Central
2. Fredick at Potosi
3. Kennett at Dexter
4. Bluff at Sikeston
And...that's it.
I definitely like PH Central's chances. If they win....they win. If they lose.....they gave 110% and fell short.
This conversation will resume tomorrow night....for better or for worse!
Shortbus, why do you think Kennett will beat Dexter for the first time in 13 years?
i'll try and give updates on freddy and isotop.
That's what I think too Cheesehead, Dexter by 2 or 3 TD's.
LOL
Who knows Shortbus, Kennett may come out and be a completely different team Friday night and put it to Dexter. Lot's of games I'm interested in tomorrow night and that's one of them.
I think Jamal will impress some people tomorrow carrying the football. I have never seen him at the RB position just gotta hold on to the ball and he should put up 100yds easily.
I just don't think Kennett's defense can keep them in the game. They've given up alot of points to some weak teams. Paragould was winless until last week and they hung 47 points on Kennett. I think the key is for us to get on the Indians early and never let them in the game.
just like potosi at freddy last year, shortbus. they had it close late and freddy was struggling to stop them. faked a field goal and won it late. that's the type of game i'm expecting from the dexter/kennett game. if its close either way. look for something special to happen late. same goes for the freddy/potosi game. unless freddy can get out to an early lead and keep it at 2 td's or more at halftime, look out! potosi might be in business. especially with those stupid squib kicks they've killed us with the past 4 years. >:[
But the Tiger OL is just so big and strong, led by the Twin Towers, that even their third and fourth string RB's can have a big game.
from what i have heard, but yet to see, is that freddy's pass defense is the best it's been in years. but nobody has tested it. (correct me if i'm wrong) so only time will tell! how is potosi's passing game this year? how is the rushing game? i think if they have a qb like they had in marler and receivers like they had in eye, rogers, cain, and that RB they had last year is better than last year, then freddy could get thrown on all day like in 2010. but it could end up being like in 2007 when freddy only allows 2 offensive td's. this could possibly be decided by special teams like in 2008 when potosi recovered 2 onside kicks and won by 5. i always get excited for these big time conference match ups with potosi and freddy! a little in home rivalry for me as well! haha
Yeah sounds easier said than done haha! I think cvilles line play will decide this one. I know Cville has a great line. That is going to help them open holes on offense, and could hurt out run game a lot.
Actually, Buck.....when Sikeston played NMCC, it WAS our 4th string tailback. Ernest Fobbs (a freshman) started that night. Chris Word, Marquez Newman, and Pat Gross were all out that night. NMCC did play pretty good against us, though.
thats true, but he didnt rush for over a hundred yards though. barely 50. Kyland Gross might be the quarterback, but he is deffinately yalls best rusher considering he is the only one to rush for over a 100 yards this year. He has done that 3 times.
Jackson is the best team in Semo, and they are going to continue to get better .
You could be right stlscott but, I feel in order to verify that, they need to beat both Cape and Sikeston this year. If they do that, then there is no doubt in my mind they are the best team in Semo.
GO PVILLE!!
Quarterback for NMCC Jashawn McDaniel WILL NOT play tonite.
Quarterback for NMCC Jashawn McDaniel WILL NOT play tonite.
scott...have you seen Jackson play? I haven't. I'm just curious of your assessment of them.
Any updates
SG 14-13 this game is ugly SG is clearly the better team PHC has scored on 2 passes on missed tackles PHC has maybe 30 yds on the ground
Yes, clearly. Lol.
7-6 potosi over Freddy
Other then the first drive cape had had a hard time moving the ball against Jackson. They had a long run back on a kick off that set up there second score. Jackson has done a good job shouting down there run game. Jackson turned the ball over 3 times. But has moved the ball very good.
SG wins what a call by coach stotzer going for the win down 1 2 min left and what a run by Dallas SG played bad had 3 to lost there QB and still won oh and what about the ground and pound SG Run D shut down there all American RB hate to say it but I TOLD U SO
SG pulled out a 22-21 win. Congrats.
SG looked OK....nothing too mindboggling. They pulled out a win by going for two. It was a gutsy call that paid off.
Cape spent the night chasing that extra point that they missed after the first touchdown. If they hit all the XP's then Jackson goes for one at the end of the game instead of 2 to go up by 3. Would have went to overtime...Great high school game even though my team lost. Good luck to Jackson...
Portageville over Hayti 35-22, great game BUT
give Hayti some credit. they have an awesome air attack, just too many turnovers.
Portageville's pass defense is their greatest weakness. The pound on the ground prevails.
It was an ugly second half all around for Sikeston. The offense did not execute as well as it should have and when it did, they had the zebras against them. Defense held steady and shutout the offense (PB's only TD was on a Sikeston fumble in the endzone). Need to look better next week.
Jackson played a very sloppy game on offence tonight. I havent seen Selsor try to force the ball like that. They are very lucky to come out with the win. Have to give credit to Cape's defense for there secondary playing so tuff.
At least I picked SG to win lol
Grats on the win Preacher! Hard work finally paid off.
Shortbus-I nominate you for comment of the week. You said what many of us have been thinking for a while. Ste gen is always a classy program. Congrats on the win this week.
Thanks for the insight, Cheese. My initial impression was NMCC might be a little better on defense than us, and we might have a little better offense. But like you, I expect a close game that Dexter will pull out, esp. if their QB McDaniel doesn't play again.
I wouldnt say ALL of NMCC's sports programs hit rock bottom, there basketball team looks very good this year and baseball had there first winning seanon sinnce 2001 and upseted Jackson and Sikeston, but in football they have. they will be better when all the sophomores like #10 Mikeal Walker, #1 TJ Clark, and i really like to see#4 Malik Stevenson get some playing time
McDaniel will be playing against Dexter unless something happens between now and then. He got in trouble at school for his phone being out of his pocket and couldn't play tonight. So he isn't injured or anything. It should be a very good game!!
Yeah beef he did get the 100 yards haha and easily lol. But like I said I took those statements all back when I heard McDaniel was out. He is by far our best defensive player, and leader on offense. Caruthersville I thought played very well, man y'all have a big line! Good luck in weeks to come!
Thanks bulletman for you saying good luck Jackson and also to the new tiger fan it was not the first time we beat you
Jackson's fans ran a victory lap? Wow if I was a Cape fan I probably would tackled a few! Zach could u imagine what PH fans would if done if SG would of done that to Them! Wouldn't of been pretty! To me that was a bad decision on Jackson's adminastration.
Wow...that woulda been interesting.
Mojo if u come over get ahold of daddy come over early I live right by school we usually drink a few adult beverages and watch the game I'd like to meet u I know u but never meet
I think one of the things that kept it from getting out of hand was the the the announcer said 2 differnt times for the jackson fans to getting of the running track right now and they
did do what was said right away. Also I have to say it was one of the best played and enterinig football games i have seen in a while.
I'll most likely be working in Ste Gen that Friday and will have some time to kill before the game. Dinner at the Anvil sounds real good right now....
Anybody have an update from the Charleston game today?
Yes it does Liver dumplings!
Charleston won 38-0
I don't think Jackson played too sloppy offensively. They just met a solid group of defensive backs. They'll face the same type of defense with sikeston so they might need to step that up a little.
Cape did not play well last night either. The defense gave up some big completions and let up a little on the line at times, but it is high school football afterall, it happens.
As for the Jackson students running the track. That was classless. I don't go to Cape, merely a fan, but I would be disappointed if our student section did that. I believe that past cape central students would have taken out a few Indian's for that.
And I would expect that the Sikeston administration will have some tight security in place in case Jackson wants to try that little running around the track stunt again.
yea bullet, i totally agree. when he was playing at freddy he would take us out of the game if we said anything about the officiating! and i hardly ever heard him say anything to a referee as well. i may not like sikeston a whole lot but i respect gibbs and have from the day i stepped on the field for him.
I'm just curious "TheDaddy", why do you not like Sikeston? Aren't you from Fredericktown? There wouldn't be many run-ins with Sikeston......just wondering.
Mojo, that game in 08 against Fred had a final of 42-29 and I believe Sikeston had the lead in the fourth at a point. If I remember right, they were also down 35-29 in the last minutes and threw a pick 6 that created the final margin. I wouldn't say Fred beat them bad.
I don't think Capes administration allows people on the track either. Sounds like it just kinda happened.
If Caruthersville had a track and someone tried that here, that would be their last time doing that at Caruthersville, that's for sure. That's disrespectful and shouldn't be tolerated. I don't know much about the Sikeston fans but I'm almost certain, they won't do that in Sikeston if they win.
Cheese does Cville allow fans to chew at the stadium? At SG last week they made 5 guys stop chewing around the track but then I walked over to concession stand and there were people smoking everywhere! I'd rather them chew then smoke.
(running the ball in with less than a minute to go and the lead) here's the article from the daily journal.
http://dailyjournalonline.com/sports/hig...
Yeah I liked the fireworks cheese! We used to do that, not sure why we don't anymore. Not enough touchdowns I guess.
Ok thanks "TheDaddy" I was just curious. Fair enough. Thanks for the link to the article. I was at the game. I certainly wouldn't say Fredericktown won "BAD" as Mojo said, considering if Sikeston stops them on 4th down with less than two minutes to go then Sikeston wins the game.
freddy got lucky that game. that pick by gifford really sealed the deal. i think if sikeston would haven't have given the ball back to freddy they would have won.
