Went 9-4 last week. How did other posters do?

Another game of interest this week for those of us who have a vested interest in Class 3, District 1 is Potosi @ Maplewood-Richmond Heights. I'll take MRH in that one by alot.

Two other questions of interest. Will Portageville beat EP worse than Hayti did? How badly will Caruthersville beat Kennett? I'll say no to the first one because they'll prolly have their starters out by mid-3rd quarter. And 63-0 is my prediction for the second question.

-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Tue, Oct 2, 2012, at 11:35 PM

yea.... that potosi MWRH game could get ugly...

-- Posted by TheDaddy on Tue, Oct 2, 2012, at 11:44 PM

I was 10-3 last week. Missed the Cape-Farmington, Dexter-NMCC, and Malden-Hayti games. Not too bad I'd say. Maybe next year, I'll keep track. Might try something like this during basketball season where I post what look like the top ten or fifteen most interesting/competitive/relevant games during the week and we can just have more threads like this one and keep track of how everyone does. A poster on MoSports does the Northwest Missouri Pick'em during football with 16 games in that area (lots more teams to choose from) each week and routinely will get 30-40 different people predicting each week. It is pretty popular. He gives away a prize to the leader at the end of the season. Somehow, I'm in the lead right now.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Tue, Oct 2, 2012, at 11:45 PM

I missed those three games too plus the Sikeston-Jackson game. I think that would be a great idea for basketball Sideline and for football next year. And how do you have time to keep track of NOMO as well as Semo?

-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Wed, Oct 3, 2012, at 12:02 AM

Blind luck. I've never seen a NWMO team play in my life.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Wed, Oct 3, 2012, at 12:09 AM

Having no bias towards or against any team in the area is something that I would say helps me. And I may have a little strategy but it isn't really anything special.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Wed, Oct 3, 2012, at 12:21 AM

Heard NMCC 7th grade beat Dexter 50-0 last night. Dexter middle school down this year Preach!?

-- Posted by BuckMajor on Wed, Oct 3, 2012, at 10:02 AM

I don't think Caruthersville will beat them 63-0 lol. Our coaches will pull starters at half if it's too bad. This game may be a game we work on new things on offense with Darrell coming back.

-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Wed, Oct 3, 2012, at 10:08 AM

Also Preach, I went 9-4 last week as well.

-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Wed, Oct 3, 2012, at 10:13 AM

I went 10-3 last week. I did my picks, went back to check them a couple hours later, noticed I had accidentally picked malden, changed it to Hayti, and re-submitted it. STUPID STUPID STUPID haha!

also cheese, caruthersville's back ups are pretty good, yall might put up 63 haha!

-- Posted by BuckMajor on Wed, Oct 3, 2012, at 10:17 AM

Yeah they are pretty good. Caruthersville has a very good group of kids coming up in the next few years so expect Cville to stay on top in the area for the next few years.

-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Wed, Oct 3, 2012, at 10:20 AM

I believe that the New Madrid Valle game will indicate how Portageville will potentially match up with the defending state champs.

You must have heard wrong Buck. My schedule says the Middle School doesn't play NMCC until tomorrow night. But yes, our 7th grade team has struggled this year. The 8th grade team is actually pretty good and has some good players. Their QB will prolly be the varsity kicker next season as he has a really strong leg.

BTW Buck, did you know the NMCC JV forfeited their home game against us on Monday? Something about the field being too wet?

-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Wed, Oct 3, 2012, at 10:55 AM

Maybe it was 8th grade. I heard 7th won 50-0 and 8th won 62-14, so maybe the 8th grade played dexter!? No I hadn't heard anything about that. Although yes the field was very wet monday, we got quite a bit of rain. So that is a good possibility of what happened.

-- Posted by BuckMajor on Wed, Oct 3, 2012, at 11:13 AM

On Dexter middle school's website it says yall's 7th and 8th did play NMCC yesterday. It looks like yall have charleston thursday, so it may have gotten switched around.

-- Posted by BuckMajor on Wed, Oct 3, 2012, at 11:27 AM

You may be right, but our schedule says the Middle School games are not until tomorrow night at NMCC. I don't think you played us last night.

-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Wed, Oct 3, 2012, at 11:31 AM

Caruthersville at Kennett- Tigers put up the max point spread with approx 8 minutes left in the first Q

Chaffee at Malden-I'm extremely adamant that Chaffee's Passing Attack is Extremely average(if that),hints they went to the running game. Malden by 3TDs

Charleston at Dexter- Probably my biggest toss up, I'll go with Chaz's Atheletes.

Portageville at East Prairie- I mean if the Bulldogs lose this one, I believe they should automatically assume an 8 seed. Dogs with the Running clock

Hayti at Scott City- Hayti will Hog tie the rams, I don't think SC is all that

Valle at New Madrid County Central-Valle. Ugly. Quick.

Park Hills Central at Perryville- Perryville wants to ground and pound, but PHC is better. It is PHS's homecoming and I don't know if they have won one in this century. At least they got some wins against 0-6 teams. PHC by at least 42. And a possible shut out

Farmington at Poplar Bluff- Farmington played well last week, I'm going on a whim with PB. Mules Ride the knights by 2 TDs

St. Vincent at St. Pius X- STPX has to many atheletes on the fairy field. SV gets the point spread

Fredericktown at Ste. Genevieve- very tough. Very very tough. It's almost harder to read through the smoke that BG and Daddy put out some time. Fred Mo on something spectacular late.

Sikeston at Cape Central- My Oh my how the tables have turned. Oh wait. No they haven't. DAWGS take Kitties to the pound 35-6

For the Record I didn't miss a game last week. Also didn't pick, but you win some you lose some I guess haha

-- Posted by BillShakespeare on Wed, Oct 3, 2012, at 11:40 AM

Well Buck, I guess you're right. The Middle School calendar on the web-site is different from the schedule we have at home. Things have gotten switched around. We were supposed to play Charleston originally back on Sept. 13 and NMCC tomorrow. Don't know how that happened.

I can't confirm the scores you posted, but it wouldn't surprise me. The last few years, NMCC has usually thumped us pretty good in Middle School and then things even out in high school. For some reason, Dexter just does not put a priority on Middle School football which is a big mistake in my opinion. We have had many coaching changes there in the last few years, but still only 2 Middle School coaches for both teams.

-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Wed, Oct 3, 2012, at 11:42 AM

We seem to have had a little bit of the opposite problem. Great middle school, level off in high school. But I see that changing with our current middle school 7th and 8th grade. I think they will transition into a good high school team. Our high school has just been rebuilding for the past couple of low years, I thinks its slowly turning around.

the only thing i hear bumping is my neighbor's sub in his car... am i missing something?

-- Posted by TheDaddy on Wed, Oct 3, 2012, at 11:12 PM

Play hard, sleep tight little children

-- Posted by sawdust49 on Thu, Oct 4, 2012, at 6:20 AM

P-ville won't beat E.P. by as much as Hayti because they have more integrity than that. No sense in kicking a team that is obviously seriously struggling when they are down for the count.

-- Posted by mobrigade on Thu, Oct 4, 2012, at 10:40 AM

Mobrigade, Hayti only has 17 players on their team. They just don't have a JV to sub in once they get a big lead.

-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Thu, Oct 4, 2012, at 11:12 AM

I predict New Madrid will beat Valle by 8 pts

-- Posted by sawdust49 on Thu, Oct 4, 2012, at 2:47 PM

Preacher is right! Hayti's numbers are way down this year. They can't help that they have to leave starters on the field all game. Hayti has some good coaches, they wouldn't intentionally run it up on a team I'm sure of it.

In OTHER NEWS- MIZZOU

Missouri will be without three freshmen for Saturday's match up against Vanderbilt University.

Dorial Green-Beckham, Levi Copelin and Tory Boozer were arrested for marijuana possession on Wednesday night, according to the Columbia Daily Tribune's Joe Walljasper--and all three players will be suspended for Saturday's game, according to a tweet from Walljasper:

-- Posted by Headhunt on Thu, Oct 4, 2012, at 4:42 PM

This is in a way a littl of the subject but still has to do with football. I saw on kfvs12 news a few days ago where Pacfic mo high school is having there homecoming this friday night. And some students got togather and nomainted a disabled changle girl for homecoming and then some other stundents and staff heard that it was just a cruel joke they did it to humilate her and the prinicipal and school board find out and they suspended those students and are not allowed to attend any of the homecoming going on. They said it was bullying and this was there punshiment.

TThe girl told her family that she forgave them

for it. The school system is still allowing the girl to wald with the other candiates. I think this is so said and bullying still is out of control.

-- Posted by country man on Thu, Oct 4, 2012, at 4:52 PM

That really makes me sick! I know I joke around a lot and say stupid crap but as a father of 4 kids which 3 of them are In school 7th 4th and 1 grades I teach my kids that we are all equal just because a kid dosnt have the same as you or a kid has more then you we are all the same and you should treat them as you would want to be treated. I blame the Parents of these young men not them IMO it starts at home!!

-- Posted by Bleed Green on Thu, Oct 4, 2012, at 5:01 PM

Sawdust49, what are you basing your opinion on when you predict NMCC will upset Valle by 6 points? Just a gut feeling?

-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Thu, Oct 4, 2012, at 10:36 PM

Bleed when did you get feelings?

-- Posted by caniplay on Fri, Oct 5, 2012, at 6:14 AM

Left the NMCC game with a few minutes left in the 2nd. Valle up 34-0.

-- Posted by BuckMajor on Fri, Oct 5, 2012, at 8:56 PM

Buck, your professional take on the game?

-- Posted by sawdust49 on Fri, Oct 5, 2012, at 9:20 PM

Valle is a great team. One of the only teams in the area Iv never seen play, ever. So this was my first look at them. They were well coached, I liked the offense they ran. They had a great balance of pass and run. I was really impressed with the passing and recievers. They were just a superior ball club, and that was ivedent from the start. Iv also see portageville. I'll be pulling for portageville, but it's Gonna be tough tough tough for them to win in my opinion.

-- Posted by BuckMajor on Fri, Oct 5, 2012, at 9:43 PM

SG 50-29 over Freddy SG scored 42 points in 2nd half! SG just beat a really really good team! Greminger is one tough kid.

-- Posted by Bleed Green on Fri, Oct 5, 2012, at 10:49 PM

Both Caruthersville and Kennett played pretty bad on offense in the first quarter. The weather was a big factor for both teams with raining pouring all game plus 30mph winds.

Darrell didn't play much last night. He got a few carries and played some on defense. On his last carry of the game, he re-injured his ankle and left the game in the early part of the 3rd Quarter. We also lost #27 Villegas and 79 Landon Stricklin to injuries last night. So this team is getting short on starters. We now have 7 guys who are hurt who may not play next week. Injuries are the theme for this years Tiger team. Hopefully it's nothing severe and all players will come back by districts.
