Portageville is by far the 2nd best Class 1 team in Semo. Valle has that honor until they are beat and Portageville can't beat them. I'd put Cape,Sikeston,Jackson,Caruthersville,SG,Freddy,PHC,Valle ahead of them. No way they could compete with those schools. Sikeston, Valle and Caruthersville defenses would shut your offense down. Have to be able to pass and Portageville can't do that on a consistant basis. I'm not bashing them just saying they have had a weak schedule and when you play Valle, you will see a big difference. Barely beat Hayti who had like 6 fumbles, most caused by themselves.
Valle is certainly more suseptible to the Pass than the run, if you're going to run on them you better be a whole lot more physical(SG, most likely Penny). That alone is why they will whoop Portageville, let alone the been there done that factor

I have seen both. Valle would win by 28 plus everytime. Not even close and Valle is OK compared to where they have been the last 3 years.
ok people are just going off of who has been winning the last couple years yea valle is valle... who cares football is not played on paper. the only thing that matters is what happens when the lights come on and the boys on both sides can settle it on the field. im not trying to bash anyone but people do you really think portageville boys or valle boys care about it win yall say whos the best and all that gibberish because most people who comment on here are wrong every week. ever heard of an upset? portageville has done it week after week. portageville keeps it close. game goes into overtime and then i dont know what happens from there...
All I know is I have seen both play. Jefferson really put it to St pius in which portageville did beat pius by a couple touchdowns. Valle destroyed jefferson. So as you can see on paper it's not close and my opinion is there is 0-100 chance Valle would lose to pville.
I agree with you Friday night lights but when Portageville wins they are not upsets its called there so underrated that people don't account for how good they actually are it's no reason to bash any team on here cause Portageville and Valle are not even playing for sure dont count out other teams that have a chance Thayer,Hayti,Portageville,Valle those are all good teams that have a chance so don't count anyone out
If my numbers are right, Portageville and Valle would have to win their 1st and 2nd rounds of district play before they met in the district championship (and played in Portageville, I'm taking the home team with the upset by 3)
Personally, you said Valle had a tougher schedule, I disagree. I think with St.Gen LOSS, they have beat teams with the following current records;0-5, 3-3, 1-5, 3-3, 2-3. looks close, let them come to town ..lets just settle it on the field.

Portageville is by far one of the best teams in Southeast--at letting everybody know just how good they think they are and having a huge chip on their shoulder when they don't get consistently praised by the rest of the board.
Just because we don't think Portageville can beat Valle, doesn't mean we are dogging anyone. Valle has a proven track record, Portageville is just now getting used to winning. I've watched these forums for many weeks and I've seen pretty much the whole football team of Portageville get on here and brag about how good they are. Win with some class, remember what it was like at the bottom. Just remember, your team has been at the bottom for 10 years or more. Also, no one said Valle had a tougher schedule, just they are a better team, which they are and they will prove if they get to play.
1standTen yes we do but we also back our talk up have we lied yet we WILL beat Valle and when we do we WILL Win state Portageville has always had lots of athletes just no leadership now we got that and we gonna ride this momentum all the way to the end so weather you or anyone else likes it or not we WILL be In the dome that's all I gotta say
Sorry for the tardiness, but yes I have, Portageville doesn't have the balance. If you give Valle one phase to focus on they will shut it down!! All I'm saying is you better be prepared to air it out!

i'm NOT pooping in portageville's cereal.... but they've played 3 2-4 teams, an 0-6 team, and 2 4-2 teams. really about the same level of competition in my opinion. BUT i think (as i've said before) that portageville is a heck of a team and will do work in the playoffs. for you portageville fans, freddy was in the same boat in '07. nobody thought we'd take districts from SG because "it's SG" and we did work! portageville has a legitimate shot to give valle a run for their money if they play.
Oh good lord. ReportJoe, you've admitted in the past to being a player, don't care who. It is good that you are guys are confident in your abilities. Every team should come into every game believing they can win. I have no problem with that. However, when you make a statement like the one you just put on this site, you are inviting yourself to a bit of ridicule and eye-rolling.
We see programs in every sport, every year, who haven't seen success in awhile and fans, players, or in this case both, get on here running their mouth like they are unstoppable. Then, they get stopped. Then, they all disappear. I know you probably don't care if I am on your team's bandwagon or not but remember you represent your team, school, and fanbase as a whole when you are on this website and statements like that do not give the rest of us a favorable impression. Personally, Valle has done nothing this year to make me think they aren't the favorite in their district whether they have homefield throughout or not. No poster has a problem with Portageville or is a big Valle fan. They all just know that the proven commodity is playing up to the expected standard.

Did I read that right. Portageville in the Dome? Bold statement with many many games yet to be played. Isn't that like saying Perryville will with the superbowl? lol...Let's look at some of the teams they might have to play. Districts, to even get out they would have to at least beat prolly Valle or Thayer. Proven records in the Playoffs. After that Maybe Miller, Tipton or Skyline. Look up all those teams ReportJoe..That's all I gotta say..

I'm not being rude or anything I'm not knocking valle by any means we give respect where respect is due and Valle deserves that much I know their a monster team and I've seen their roster but "confidence is key" and I got lots of it
There is a line between confidence and cockiness and the side you are perceived to be on right now does not seem to be on the side of confidence.

Somebody remember this post. Portageville will NOT win the district Championship. NOR will they be within 3 TDs of Valle. I'm preparing to put that in stone. I don't care how confident you are.

I personally am with TheDaddy on this one. I think Portageville will give Valle a run for their money and might even pull off the upset.
Now for a history lesson for all of you who think this is the first season Portageville has had a winning team. I know the Bulldogs have been down for a few seasons, but go back and look at Coach Jim McCay's football programs in the 80's and 90's. I lived in Portageville from 1993-1996. In 1996, they were undefeated and unscored on. They lost a playoff game (I forget to who) 7-0 at home and that was the first TD they gave up all season. So there is a football tradition in Portageville, not as impressive as Valle's to be sure, but it is there.
And ReportJoe, Sideline is right. You've crossed the line into cockiness and you're not making any converts on here as a result. Tone it down.

The year was 1995 and the team was John Burroughs in the state quarterfinals.
As for this year, anyone can beat anyone. I don't see a "great" team that would just roll over everyone. Having said that, Valle has potential to be that team given their young roster and improvements they've made this season.
If Portageville is the #1 seed (should be) and perhaps a Thayer is the #4 seed, I could see them going into Portageville and winning that game. COULD.
I think that there are good teams but portageville is the best right now still undefeated you cant say they cant beat valle until they face eachother portageville is going very far this year hands down
you guys beat Chaffee by 2 touchdowns and Chaffee had two drives stall inside the 10 yard line going in.. you lose, Valle wins.. not just wins, wins big.. by 24 or more.. you can't throw on a consistent basis.. Valle will stack the box like Chaffee did only valles personnel is better than chaffees obviously
I would make Valle the favorite against Portageville, but I do think it would be a competitive game.
From what I can tell Portageville can pass a bit when needed, and the running attack seems very good.
Valle's passing game is not as good as it has been, and their depth is not good, but they're still well coached.

Sounds like the coach at Portageville needs to get his players under control before they let their mouth write a check their team can't cash. Winning brings out confidence but geez, act like you have won before! Until you beat Valle, they are the favorites. I'm not even sold on Portageville beating Hayti. If they cut down at least half of those 8 turnovers, Hayti wins that game. Your lucky to even leave Hayti with a win. Valle will not beat themselves, you have to beat them.

People are not making Portageville look bad, Portageville players are making them look bad. Do you see any other players from other teams getting on here braggin the way they do? No! The coach needs to chill these kids out and calm down their ego's because it's starting to get out of hand. You have a good team, now go out on fridays and let you actions speak louder than your words.
Seems like everyday there is a new poster on here from Pville talking about how good they are and how everyone is down on them. Worse than Cape was a couple years ago.
First, let me say I know Coach Bullock very well. He does not get caught up in all the hype of being undefeated. I'm sure he doesn't even look at sites like this one. If he did, I'm sure he would discipline players as needed. Please remember these are a bunch of high school students who are really excited about having a great season. If we all remember back I'm sure we ran off at the mouth just like these kids if not worse. With that being said, I know a lot of you posters are from big towns with big programs so please excuse the small town fans who are worked up about the season we have had thus far. As for all the doubters out there, everyone on this site has said that pville hasn't had any competition this year or that Hayti did it to themselves, or Malden didn't play their best. That may be the case but who got the W in the win column. Enough said. People can't stand to lose and I get that. But don't take away the fact that we are winning and we are proud of our school. Thanks to Coach Bullock for bringing back school pride and all have to say is thank you Malden for not hiring Coach Bullock! I think you really missed out!!

There is nothing wrong with having confidence but players should not get on this site and run there mouth. IMO Valle is a better team but I'm going off seeing very little on Portagville! But the longer they stay undefeated the more the confidence will grow and the better they will play. Any team well maybe not any team can beat anyone on Friday night! I wish Portagville luck but I think if they run into Valle it's gonna be a tough challenge. I hope Portagville coach gets his players calmed down and off this board!!
I'm not saying we will beat valle. I just hope we get to play that far in the playoffs. Believe me i know valle's got several state titles and nobody will look past them. As for the players' comments who cares!! If you are a grown-up and I assume you are then get over it. It's just a bunch of kids talking. I'm sure you're more mature and can look past it.

Legit if a player from Sikeston PhC Freddy SG Valle Webb city platte county Harrisonville Dexter cville or who ever got on here and ran his mouth he would be running his rear off the next day and would not be allowed back on here I guarantee that! If he did he would probably either get suspended or loose his spot. I understand Portagville is excited but like a lot of these guys are saying do it for more then 5 games!! Valle dosnt talk they been doing it for decades. I hope Portagville does give Valle a good game but talking crap on here ain't gonna improve your chances.

After running into Freddy and SG, and being held to under 100 yards of offense by PHC, posters from Potosi have went extinct. Poor fellers.

I agree that the Portageville boys should be a little more humble, but in their defense, they are excited about finally having a winning season. Coach Bullock teaches his boys after every win that the next game is just as important as the last one and to not get over-confident. I know this because I have heard his post-game huddle. As far as Portageville not beating teams by several touchdowns, it probably has a lot to do with the fact that Coach Bullock pulls the starters and lets the other boys play once we have a comfortable lead. I think that's great. Even in the game against Scott City, our second string could have scored another TD, but Coach Bullock had them take a knee to end the game. I love that he doesn't "run up the score" by keeping the starters in there.
So, while I agree that some boys from the team are on here being way too over-confident, I think we have a good group of kids who SHOULD be excited about winning! We'll see if we can beat Valle when we get there. Right now, let the boys enjoy the success they are having, and quit raining on their parade!
i don't really think anyone is raining on the team's parade. just letting some of the mouthy kids, and probably bench warmers, know that getting on here and mouthing valle is not the best thing to do at the moment. that would be like me telling kimbo slice i'm gonna kick is *butt*... trust me i know how it feels to go from not having good seasons to being 6-0. but you gotta be at least somewhat humble. i'm sure 90% of the kids on the team ARE humble. oh! and good luck the rest of the year.
I've seen both teams and Valle would win by three touchdowns, at least. Coach Naeger and his guys are WAY too smart to get beat by a one dimensional team, which is what Portageville is really. Coach Bullock is doing an awesome job and he has his kids believing, but they are not on Valle's radar yet.
I just watched Valle and New Madrid for a half. Valle is very very good. I thought they were solid but its hard to imagine they will not win class 1 again
Portageville plays NMCC in two weeks. That will be a good litmus test for if the two teams meet in the playoffs.
As I said before, Valle will crush Portageville. There is a reason they win state titles.
