It's hard for me to believe that this thread has not been started. The past few years this rivalry has increased in intensity. However, this year, it seems to have lost its luster....soley judging by the banter back and forth on this forum. Two questions:
1. Why has this matchup seemed to have lost its edge with regard to a rivalry?
2. Who will win and why?
I think Sikeston will win by 2 TD's+. If the Martin kid is out for Cape it could be worse. I think Sikeston's D will shut down Cape's offense. Sikeston D was able to keep a lock on Jackson and I believe Jackson's offense is a little better than Cape's....IMO. Look for Sikeston to have long, sustained drives with the occasional big play via misdirection run or short pass that turns into a long TD scamper.
1. None of the high school kids from Cape are sitting around on the boards anymore like in 2010. The Portageville fans have taken over their slot.
2. I think Sikeston wins due to stifling defense so long as the offense can get going like last week. Cape seems to enjoy the big play so the defense has to be prepared for that. I'd say it won't be too much worse than Jackson. Maybe two TDs, could be three if Martin does not play though Campbell is a good running back as well.

It's hard to talk crap when you played and lost twice in one year without scoring!! Haha

Rocketboy, you might be eating those words come Friday night. 2 TD's+? Really? The only way that Sikeston beats Cape that bad is if you and your snotty nose brothers are actually PLAYING on Cape's football squad!

Cape has only scored 17 points in the last 4 meetings. Cape can't score with that offense against Sikeston's defense.

Its very hard to run the ball on Sikeston. You have to mix thing up to spread there defense. Jackson had some success at moving the ball by mixing it up. But if all you have is a running game then Sikeston's defense can and most likely will shut you down. Cape didn't show much of a passing game against Jackson. I think they did pass for one touchdown on blown coverage. But very few pass attempts. I think Sikeston wins this game but it wont be high scoring.

haha. cape lost to farmington and is talking crap about sikeston. sikeston rolled farmington and jackson. i dislike sikeston but i can definitely see them running the table on cape. that would be like potosi saying they were gonna beat MWRH this week and not lose by 2 td's! all i have to say is good luck cape!

It's going to be a wet one tonight so most likely there will be an even higher percentage of run plays than normal.
I'll throw a post in there for you sideline. I don't post as much simply because I don't see much anymore. I've only watched a quarter and a half of high school football this year.

Keep me informed of the game please, won't make it tonight

Sikeston wins... I've already bet a handful of extremities on this game... Hopefully if I'm wrong nobody collects on those bets

Man its going to be nasty. I hope that none of those boys get hurt tonight. That turf might be slick. Might be hard to make any kind of a cuts on.

-- Posted by sawdust49 on Fri, Oct 5, 2012, at 9:29 PM
should be 21 21 blown safety call... Also Sikeston's defense came out very flat to start the game
-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Fri, Oct 5, 2012, at 9:38 PM
Does Sikeston have a FG kicker? I've been listening on radio and it appears they are lacking in that department...Not good for a class 4 school..

SHS 25 CHS 19

Sikeston's kicker its a freshman. We can't seem to get it through the uprights on a consistent basis. Dogs score on 3 yard run by Word after 80 yard drive. Failed 2 pt conversion 25-21 Sikeston.
