Have u heard anything about Jennings??
-- Posted by TFA on Sun, Oct 7, 2012, at 6:42 PM
Jennings is a 2-4 Class 4 team out of St. Louis with wins over Northwest Academy of Law and Affton (neither a power player) and losses to McCluer, Normandy, Clayton, and McCluer South-Berkeley. Maxpreps has them ranked as the #243 team in the state of Missouri (not including Week 7 results in that ranking). Meanwhile, they have Sikeston as the #55 team in the state of Missouri. Jennings is currently ranked 7th of 8 in Class 4 District 5 with a point total of 25.36. St. Charles West who Cape defeated convincingly is ranked above them in 4th. If Sikeston comes in on point, I expect them to walk out with a nice victory.

Again for those of us with a vested interest in Class 3, District 1, a key game is Potosi at North County. I'll take NC in that one to hand Potosi their 5th straight loss.
Also, Portageville plays Kelly in a JV game in what should be an awful mis-match for my alumni Kelly.
Finally, I went 9-2 last week. Missed the Dexter-Charleston and Farmington-Poplar Bluff games. How about the rest of you?
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Sun, Oct 7, 2012, at 9:57 PM
I went 10-1 last week! Farmington was my only loss.

-- Posted by BuckMajor on Sun, Oct 7, 2012, at 10:19 PM
Cape Central at Chaminade... cape has a good game. wins BIG.
Caruthersville at Hayti... ain't nobody in hayti throwing up H's this game... they might be throwing the bird or eggs at c'ville's bus on the way out of town though...
Chaffee at Jefferson... this is the deal breaker for the picks....... since it's at jefferson, i'll say jefferson. but not by much.
East Prairie at Charleston... blackman gets another good win!
Park Hills Central at Dexter... i feel bad for dexter. maybe they'll take park hills out for bbq before the game and put laxatives in the food. that's the only way they'll win.
Jackson at Columbia-Hickman... this is gonna be a disappointing drive back for jackson.
Malden at Kennett... a green wave is coming to kennett. but its not malden. it's a head cold with mucus. they lose plus have 4 kids out sick.
New Madrid County Central at Fredericktown... well i hope freddy wants to redeem themselves for blowing the game at SG. cause if they do, they ought to break the scoring record friday night.
Perryville at Windsor... windsor is bad. but perryville is less bad. perryville wins very much more bad.
Normandy at Poplar Bluff... thank GOD it's not at normandy! have you ever been up there?! nelly raps about killing people with tupac up in their parking lot! bluff wins.
Living Word Christian at Scott City... don't ever play a religious school. god likes them more than the other schools. BIRD IS THE WORD (and the win). living christian word that is.
Grandview at St. Vincent... grandview is gonna get a grand-view of the back of the SV running backs and receivers jerseys all game long.
Desoto at Ste. Genevieve... well i think SG's jv will be playing after the first quarter.
Herculaneum at Valle... HAHAHA! herky... oh poor herky...
Sikeston at Jennings... sikeston. i guess.... :P

Just a simple question, how many people are just guessing when it comes to the games featuring Chaminade, Normandy, Living Word Christian, and Jennings? I would guess it is a lot. This weekend is almost like a SEMO-STL Showdown.

Sideline, I did a little research on MaxPreps before making my picks with those schools. Still some guesswork there I guess.
Daddy, love the picks once again (except for Dexter, of course, LOL). "You may not like it, but learn to love it, because its the best thing going today! WOOOOOOOOOO!"

Cape Central at Chaminade - Cape
Caruthersville at Hayti - HMMM, gotta go C-ville.
Chaffee at Jefferson - Edge to Jefferson R-7
East Prairie at Charleston - Chaleston
Park Hills Central at Dexter - PHC, but if Dexter gets the Rebels bellies full on BBQ as Daddy says, there's a chance...
Jackson at Columbia-Hickman - Hickman
Malden at Kennett - Malden
New Madrid County Central at Fredericktown - FredMo.
Perryville at Windsor - two fairly hapless teams. Windsor since it's at home.
Normandy at Poplar Bluff - Bluff, Normandy's record isn't great, but they have a rough schedule.
Living Word Christian at Scott City - Don't know, can't find where Living Word Christian is!
Grandview at St. Vincent - St. Vincent
Desoto at Ste. Genevieve - Ste Gen.
Herculaneum at Valle - Valle
Sikeston at Jennings (Saturday) - Sikeston. Jennings isn't that good either, about like Normandy.

Does anyone know where the Sikeston vs Jennings game will be at. I know some of the schools up there don't play their home games where the high school is.
-- Posted by REDDIRT DOG on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 11:25 AM
Question about Valle Catholic...Did I read right that they ran the ball 40 times and only threw 8 times against NMCC?? I know they run the ball more than most spread teams, but that is pretty lopsided. Was it the conditions of the game or have they changed their philosophy?
-- Posted by blackNgold007 on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 12:39 PM
Man I was at the game, and you would not believe how windy it was. 30mph winds. New Madrid's football field, is in a cotton field, there's no wind breaks at all haha. Both teams punted the ball like 5 yards in the wind. Valle only threw the ball when they had the wind at their back. And really, their run game was working pretty well, they really didn't need to pass.
-- Posted by BuckMajor on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 12:45 PM
They prefer to run especially with Fallert there RB but they can throw as well I think Judd just takes what your going to give him! Both him and Martin are really good coaches!
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 12:49 PM
Thanks, I was worried they might have changed their spread...Thats a fun spread to watch, especially since they are only class 1! Hope to get the chance to see them this year!
-- Posted by blackNgold007 on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 1:00 PM
Just FYI Sikeston is spread and they run it 40-50 times a game so Spear isn't necessarily just a passing offense
-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 1:07 PM
*spread
-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 1:10 PM
What's kinda funny is as bad as Kennett is they have a chance to win the next two games based purely on talent. They get my vote for the most talented teams with the fewest wins this season!
-- Posted by X-Man on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 2:01 PM
Valle is not good passing the ball. They are very good running, but Poor in the passing game compared to previous years. Running the Spinner offense can be really good and they don't even run it to the best efficiency. (If your in class two Lamar will run it all the way to the dome) Also they have thrown the ball less than 15 times at least 3 times so far this year and they weren't in bad conditions either though
-- Posted by BillShakespeare on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 2:55 PM
Better to watch HS FB than Mizzou. Gonna be a slaughterhouse this weekend.
-- Posted by exzalmanian on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 7:15 PM
Daddy, if Dexter takes PHC team out for ribs and laxatives, I would feel sorry for PHC!!!!Good luck big Daddy.....
-- Posted by Horizontal Stretch on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 8:41 PM
i'll take the ribs! i ate at some place down there that year basketball districts were there. i think it was '10... and that was the best bbq ever. i cant think of the name though... and good luck to everyone friday as well. i'd like to see PHC and SG lose this week. ;)
-- Posted by TheDaddy on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 9:32 PM
Me too Daddy! Dexter will have payback on their minds to avenge last year's playoff upset loss to PHC last season, but not sure we have the firepower to pull it off.
It was either Dexter Bar-B-Que or the Hickory Log you ate at BTW. We prefer the ribs at Hickory Log in my house, but they are smoked not bar-be-qued.
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Mon, Oct 8, 2012, at 9:48 PM
Cape Central at Chaminade- I think Capes offense isnt gonna get it going enough, Chaminade
Caruthersville at Hayti- Pregame will be fun to watch as anticipation builds, unfortunately it gets boring quick if your from Hayti. Tiggers.
Chaffee at Jefferson- Jefferson runs the strait T. Chaffee doesnt know what they wanna run at times. I dont like Chaffee therefore, BlueJays???
East Prairie at Charleston-East Prarie.. well you cant fault them for trying, Charleston by alot.
Park Hills Central at Dexter- Thing about Dexter this year is, BBQ is good, football team is not. The Rebels yell.
Jackson at Columbia-Hickman- Thankfully Mizzou is hosting Alabama so this will only be the second biggest blow out in columbia. Hickman.
Malden at Kennett- Green Wave ride the tide all over these Indians. Malden.
New Madrid County Central at Fredericktown- NMCC hasnt faired well against decent teams so far this year, nor do I expect things to change. Blackcats all up in this one.
Perryville at Windsor- Game of the week. Does someone actually have to win?? Windsor, because even though they lose, they score points. PHS does not. Owls.
Normandy at Poplar Bluff-Normandy has been competitive at times, other times not, same could be said of PB. Also normandys colors are red and green, that makes my decision. Mules
Living Word Christian at Scott City- LWC has beat Cardinal Ritter and barely lost to Duschene. Good luck Rams. Eagles win.
Grandview at St. Vincent- Well at least one of the three area Indians will pick up the Victory. Homecoming week too. Poor Eaglets. SV.
Desoto at Ste. Genevieve- Bold Prediction of the Week. Dragons win. Thats right. SG by mucho.
Herculaneum at Valle- Blackcats wont stop the warriors run game, so the warriors wont need to pass. Good news for the Warriors. Valle.
Sikeston at Jennings- Im tired of researching these STL teams. Sikeston takes care of business.
Last week only missed SG/Freddy game so not a bad week at the office

For all of you Sikeston Bulldogs Fans that are traveling to the Jennings game this Saturday, FYI you might want to bring a lawn chair just in case, as their stadium only seats about 700 total. Thanks, and GO DOGS!!!!

Anybody else getting a Sikeston-Roosevelt vibe from this game?
-- Posted by sideline starter on Tue, Oct 9, 2012, at 2:57 PM
Sorry to get off topic but I just remembered this when dog brought up sikeston traveling. Whatwas with the small number that made the trip to cape?
-- Posted by CapeAlum on Tue, Oct 9, 2012, at 4:34 PM
Weather from what I've heard. It was awful and the game was covered by webcast, radio, and Cover-It-Live. Cold, wet, and travelling to sit in outdoor conditions are not the recipe for drawing lots of Sikeston fans to football.
-- Posted by sideline starter on Tue, Oct 9, 2012, at 4:37 PM
I remember in 2005 when Sikeston hosted Poplar Bluff. The weather conditions were similar to what you saw Friday, actually worse from what I remember. Colder, rainier, and windier. Both teams were bad and both were already eliminated from playoff contention. There were literally, I kid you not, like 5 people in attendance sitting in the stands. Not counting the people in the press box of course. Just spectators watching.
-- Posted by semohoops on Tue, Oct 9, 2012, at 5:34 PM
Sikeston's fans typically come out in droves for big, pumped up matchups and of course all playoff games. Usually, even in games that aren't "big" games, they still bring a ton of fans. This year for the Jackson game, I was very impressed with Jackson's turnout. They always have good crowds up at Jackson. They love their football up there.
-- Posted by semohoops on Tue, Oct 9, 2012, at 5:36 PM
I was surprised at the Jackson - Sikeston. I would have thought Sikeston would have filled the stands but they didn't. It was even there homecoming. The week before at Jacksons homecoming it was standing room only. But there were allot of people at the Sikeston game. It was my first time there it was a nice stadium.
-- Posted by oldschoolbballer on Tue, Oct 9, 2012, at 7:32 PM
it was the hickory log... must have been because on the way back to freddy i had to drop a hickory log at some gas station that had a spitoon. which was handy because i had a good ole swamp nugget in.

It takes a lot to fill that Sikeston stadium. Although I do agree, I thought it would have been more crowded than what it was.
-- Posted by semohoops on Wed, Oct 10, 2012, at 8:42 AM
Cape and sikeston filled hock a couple years ago. That was the largest high school crowd I've seen.
-- Posted by CapeAlum on Wed, Oct 10, 2012, at 8:45 AM
Definitely an unbelievable atmosphere that night. Over 11,000 at Houck on a Thursday no less.
-- Posted by semohoops on Wed, Oct 10, 2012, at 8:55 AM
Well it sounds like it won't take a whole lot to make the Jennings stadium look full, since they only seat around 700. All though I dont know how many people from Sikeston will be traveling to this game, as Jennings record is 2-5.
-- Posted by REDDIRT DOG on Wed, Oct 10, 2012, at 9:58 AM
You got to remember that Sikeston's games are televised on the school channel plus KFVS was web casting it also. Has to cut down on crowd.

Why is Sikeston playing Jennings on a Saturday anyway? I hope everyone takes extra precautions with their stuff because Jennings is a really bad neighborhood.

For that reason it self! That and I don't think they have lights
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Fri, Oct 12, 2012, at 5:32 PM
Preach, I don't believe that Jennings has lights. Either that or they share their field with someone else. Those inner city St. Louis schools play a lot of Saturday afternoon games.

Valle is loosing by 8 with 3 to go! Dustin Johnson from herky has 6 TD and almost 400 yds rushing
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Fri, Oct 12, 2012, at 9:39 PM
Valle looses 41-39 to herky but bigger news is they lost there QB to a concussion!
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Fri, Oct 12, 2012, at 9:51 PM
All I can say is a win is a win! Cville's O-Line is missing Landon is a HUGE way. I'm glad our defense kept Hayti to just 6. They bent all night long but didn't break! Score was Cville 13-6
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Fri, Oct 12, 2012, at 10:02 PM
Dexter really played hard tonight and gave PHC a run for their money. We had two chances inside the red zone and came away with no points. I was really impressed with PHC's defense, esp. their DL. The Bearcats are much better than their 1-7 record. With just a little luck, we could easily be 4-4 right now. Oh well, on to Malden next week for a huge rivalry game. If we play like we did tonight, I think we'll beat the Green Wave next week.
Hey Daddy, looks like we're coming to your place for the first round of the playoffs.
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Fri, Oct 12, 2012, at 10:30 PM
What was final tonight Preach?
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Fri, Oct 12, 2012, at 10:31 PM
Sounds like it was one heck of a game PMF. I know Hayti gave Caruthersville all they wanted tonight, Hayti has a very good QB that should have been the starter at the beginning of the year. I think they can upset some teams in the districts if they play like they did tonight.
Like Cheese said Landon was a huge loss for our line. I hope he gets healthy come district time we are gonna need him. St. Gen looks like a tough task next week but I think it has the potential to be a good game.
-- Posted by wheresthebeef on Fri, Oct 12, 2012, at 10:36 PM
PHC 27, Dexter 7. The Rebels were ahead 8-7 at the half, but we really should've been up 17-8 at that point. PHC just grounded us down in the 2nd half. They didn't throw a pass in the 2nd half.
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Fri, Oct 12, 2012, at 10:37 PM
i might have to make it to that game then and meet ya!

-- Posted by TheDaddy on Fri, Oct 12, 2012, at 11:55 PM
Cheese what happened tonight? Is HAYTI that good or the injuries taking its tole!
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Fri, Oct 12, 2012, at 11:57 PM
ok never mind... my fall break is next week...
-- Posted by TheDaddy on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 12:09 AM
They came to play. This is a very intense rivalry and records mean nothing in this game. Saying that, i would have to crazy if i said injuries wasnt hurting this team. Losing Landon killed our offense. A few more guys got hurt but they came back in the game. Going to be honest, im not looking forward to next week. Losing Colt Callens next week so he can get cast off his hand. Not having Landon, against a very good SG line, could be the deciding factor.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 12:10 AM
Looks like Oct. 26 for the first district game Daddy.
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 12:10 AM
With Valle losing does this change anyone's opinion on the winner if class 1 district 1?
-- Posted by Semo Sports Player on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 12:22 AM
Cheesehead, Grissom is going to need to have a big game passing the ball to loosen up SG's DL so Monroe can do his thing. Pass defense has been their achilles heel all season. Also the Tiger defense is going to have contain the Dragon QB's scrambling and short passing game. He won't hurt you passing long IMO. If Caruthersville can do those two things, I like your chances. Another key is going to be if Stricklin can keep Terrana at bay so Grissom can have time to pass.
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 12:27 AM
Valle lost their QB for the game but that doesn't account for the insane amount of yardage Herky put up on them. I'd say 1A District 1 is up for grabs at this point. That said, it is Valle. Do not ever count them out, the kids know how to win. They have the state titles to prove it.
-- Posted by Kzar on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 12:53 AM
Semo Sports Player it doesn't change my mind at all as I've said all along Portageville has a great chance to upset Valle and win their district.
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 1:26 AM
Preacher Man Fan, I agree with you. IMO Portageville is too fast for Valle to keep up with. But as Kzar said, Valle has the titles to prove they're capable of winning.
-- Posted by Semo Sports Player on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 1:29 AM
I watched the Valle game tonight. Herky better than advertised..Their running back is one of the best I have seen. However according to the radio Valle had something like 200 plus yards more of offense and 11 or so more first downs then Herky. Not sure about their QB though other than he left the game and didn't return. I'm not going to back Valle but I did see some calls that really affected the game that seemed very very bad. I would really like to get my hands on a copy of that game to see how bad of calls they were or weren't since most of them were called while Valle was in the red zone..Hopefully I get to Portageville next week to take a look at a possible match up between them..I say possible since both would have to beat some good teams to get their..
-- Posted by The Longest Yard on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 2:33 AM
Well Caruthersville has an outstanding run defense. They do great defending running QB's. As far as Stricklin goes, he will do just fine against Terrana. What concerns me is not Stricklin, but Landon's replacement and the overall depth of our team. Depth on the line will probably decide this game. Regardless of how good Darrell is, you can't run the ball when people meet you in the back field. The line has to block for him or he will get ate up all night. Hayti did an outstanding job taking advantage of our inexp on the line last night! Hayti is still a very dangerous team and it wouldn't surprise me if they won their district. At this point, Malden scares me a little. They are clicking big time and it looks as if it will be a Cville/Malden final in Class 2 District 1. If it were me, I would sit anyone who has any kind of nagging injury friday night bc that game really means nothing to either team. I'd rather have our boys healthy for districts.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 10:02 AM
Agreed Cheesehead. I look for a low scoring defensive battle next week. I sure would like to see the Tigers put a hurting on the Dragons going into district play though!
As for Malden, don't forget that Charleston is playing really well right now too. I think that will be a really interesting match-up in districts. I'll prolly go to see that game if it happens.
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 10:31 AM
A really interesting match-up between Charleston and Malden that is.

No dice on the beers Daddy (Prov. 20:1), but happy birthday anyway! BTW, after taking a second look at the schedule, the first district game is scheduled for Oct. 25 on your birthday. The Bearcats will do their best to ruin it for you Daddy! LOL.

i just looked at the district championship bracket on mshsaa's website and it says the 26th for the first game of the championship. is this bracket like the mlb playoff where there's a game before the actual bracket?

Anyone have the Sikeston score?
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 2:48 PM

Final Sikeston 33 Jennings 14

the only thing i would assume from playing for gibbs, is that they showed up late for the bus!

I know Word didn't play alot because he's hurt but that's the only one I know

Newman has been hurt also. I guess he felt they needed to save them for later games I thought Word played a little in 1st qtr sorry

Preacher Man Fan, I thought Dexter looked good on their first drive. There were other times where they showed signs of life, but overall, they looked like a young team. They will most definitely be better next year.
The game was really sloppy for the first two quarters. PHC's Defense bailed them out during the first half....but the team showed a bit more of their true identity during the second half.
-- Posted by zachattack on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 6:52 PM
one heck of a fake
-- Posted by hb1025 on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 6:57 PM
Yeah, that play fooled everybody, even the refs! The PHC coaches went nuts in the booth beside us when the refs blew that call! LOL.
Zach, I think the Rebels need to clean it up in terms of penalties and turnovers. I know they like to play ball-control offense, but Courtois needs to throw deep more to loosen up the defense. Last night, PHC didn't attempt one pass in the 2nd half. IMO, that needs to change if you want to make some noise in the playoffs.
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 7:05 PM
This was the sloppiest game they've played all year. I guarantee you that they are not happy with the results and they will be handling business when Monday gets here.
-- Posted by zachattack on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 7:15 PM
We had 412 yards rushing this week. We pass when we have to but we haven't had to do as much lately. And we are still iffy in that aspect of the game. Running backs need to keep control of the ball better. What's done is done but I can only imagine what the rushing total would have been without the fumbles and the poor play in the first half.

MSHSAA has the first round games set for Friday Oct 26, but I think they say the game can be moved to Thursday if both schools agree. I can see the pros and cons of either day, but prefer Friday nights.
Preach, Does look likely we'll see you Week 10. Outside possibility you can move up to #5 with a win over Malden and NMCC loses at Portageville. Did the Bearcats lose to NMCC and would the Eagles appeal to travel to FredMo again?
BTW, I saw the place where the Big Guy changed water to wine and a few other places. You can really feel His presence when you walk on the dirt of the Holy Land. (sorry for slight off topic...)

Hey Sideline, what do u know about Cardinal Ritter? Also do u know that Jennings and Cardinal Ritter both played and play us and Scott County Central the same time and date? I didn't even know they had a football team. Ok I just thought I'd throw that in there because that's what both teams have on their schedule
-- Posted by TFA on Sun, Oct 14, 2012, at 1:39 PM
all class 4 district one first round games are thursday oct 25th...and yes TFA, scott county football played sikeston yesterday at the show me center...neal e boyd sang the anthem ;)
-- Posted by RedShirt on Sun, Oct 14, 2012, at 2:11 PM
TFA, if you got that info from Maxpreps, they sometimes put down Sikeston and SCC as both playing a game Sikeston played for some reason. SCC doesn't actually have football. Maxpreps has a lot of crappy info mixed with the useful stuff. You have to know how to filter the useful from the crap. Hah. I'm a little busy right now. I'll give a synopsis on Ritter later today/tonight.
-- Posted by sideline starter on Sun, Oct 14, 2012, at 2:34 PM
I know they don't have football guys! Lol
-- Posted by TFA on Sun, Oct 14, 2012, at 2:41 PM
Just trying to help.
-- Posted by sideline starter on Sun, Oct 14, 2012, at 2:48 PM
Not sure if this means anything or not but Ritter only lost to Maplewood by 10. Maplewood happen to beat SG by 8 so this should shed some light to the whole SG/Sikeston matchup. I'm not a big fan of comparing like opponents but that gives you an indication that Ritter will come to compete.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Sun, Oct 14, 2012, at 3:38 PM
I was looking at the article about that game and it said Maplewood came from behind twice to win. I'm thinking it will be a tough game
-- Posted by TFA on Sun, Oct 14, 2012, at 3:44 PM
Caruthersville played them a few years ago. They have great athletes, some fast ones as well. Sikeston should pull out the win but you just never know. After Valle losing to Hercky, no game is a given this time of year.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Sun, Oct 14, 2012, at 4:09 PM
It would help if Chris Word is healthy enough to play this week.

Have u heard anything about Jennings??
Thank you, I have to work and won't make it but I was wondering about them

Again for those of us with a vested interest in Class 3, District 1, a key game is Potosi at North County. I'll take NC in that one to hand Potosi their 5th straight loss.
Also, Portageville plays Kelly in a JV game in what should be an awful mis-match for my alumni Kelly.
Finally, I went 9-2 last week. Missed the Dexter-Charleston and Farmington-Poplar Bluff games. How about the rest of you?
I went 10-1 last week! Farmington was my only loss.
Caruthersville.
Jackson.
Park Hills. WINS BIG
Ste Gen. WINS BIG
Fredericktown. WINS BIG
Valle. WINS BIG
Sikeston.
No idea on the others...
I went 10-1. I missed the Poplar Bluff - Farmington game.
10-1. Farmington let us all down haha!
Sikeston at Jennings... sikeston. i guess.... :P

Question about Valle Catholic...Did I read right that they ran the ball 40 times and only threw 8 times against NMCC?? I know they run the ball more than most spread teams, but that is pretty lopsided. Was it the conditions of the game or have they changed their philosophy?
Man I was at the game, and you would not believe how windy it was. 30mph winds. New Madrid's football field, is in a cotton field, there's no wind breaks at all haha. Both teams punted the ball like 5 yards in the wind. Valle only threw the ball when they had the wind at their back. And really, their run game was working pretty well, they really didn't need to pass.
They prefer to run especially with Fallert there RB but they can throw as well I think Judd just takes what your going to give him! Both him and Martin are really good coaches!
Thanks, I was worried they might have changed their spread...Thats a fun spread to watch, especially since they are only class 1! Hope to get the chance to see them this year!
Just FYI Sikeston is spread and they run it 40-50 times a game so Spear isn't necessarily just a passing offense
*spread
What's kinda funny is as bad as Kennett is they have a chance to win the next two games based purely on talent. They get my vote for the most talented teams with the fewest wins this season!
Better to watch HS FB than Mizzou. Gonna be a slaughterhouse this weekend.
Daddy, if Dexter takes PHC team out for ribs and laxatives, I would feel sorry for PHC!!!!Good luck big Daddy.....
i'll take the ribs! i ate at some place down there that year basketball districts were there. i think it was '10... and that was the best bbq ever. i cant think of the name though... and good luck to everyone friday as well. i'd like to see PHC and SG lose this week. ;)
Sorry to get off topic but I just remembered this when dog brought up sikeston traveling. Whatwas with the small number that made the trip to cape?
Weather from what I've heard. It was awful and the game was covered by webcast, radio, and Cover-It-Live. Cold, wet, and travelling to sit in outdoor conditions are not the recipe for drawing lots of Sikeston fans to football.
I was surprised at the Jackson - Sikeston. I would have thought Sikeston would have filled the stands but they didn't. It was even there homecoming. The week before at Jacksons homecoming it was standing room only. But there were allot of people at the Sikeston game. It was my first time there it was a nice stadium.
it was the hickory log... must have been because on the way back to freddy i had to drop a hickory log at some gas station that had a spitoon. which was handy because i had a good ole swamp nugget in.
Cape Central at Chaminade - Cape
Caruthersville at Hayti - Cville
Chaffee at Jefferson - Jefferson
East Prairie at Charleston - Charleston
Park Hills Central at Dexter - PHC
Jackson at Columbia-Hickman - Hickman
Malden at Kennett -Malden
NMCC at Fredericktown - Freddy
Perryville at Windsor - Windsor
Normandy at Poplar Bluff - PB
Living Word Christian at Scott City - LWC
Grandview at St. Vincent - St V
Desoto at Ste. Genevieve -Ste. G
Herculaneum at Valle - Valle
Sikeston at Jennings (Saturday) - SIKESTON
Didn't pick it, but feel NMCC could upset Freddy this week!
Oops... Didn't mean to pick Windsor... I want Pville in that one
It takes a lot to fill that Sikeston stadium. Although I do agree, I thought it would have been more crowded than what it was.
Cape and sikeston filled hock a couple years ago. That was the largest high school crowd I've seen.
Definitely an unbelievable atmosphere that night. Over 11,000 at Houck on a Thursday no less.
Well it sounds like it won't take a whole lot to make the Jennings stadium look full, since they only seat around 700. All though I dont know how many people from Sikeston will be traveling to this game, as Jennings record is 2-5.
You got to remember that Sikeston's games are televised on the school channel plus KFVS was web casting it also. Has to cut down on crowd.
Almost forgot to give my predictions lol.
Cape Central at Chaminade-Cape Central
Caruthersville at Hayti-Caruthersville

Sikeston at Jennings-Sikeston
Sikeston games on Sikeston school channel is only home games they don't do away games. Wished I could go to Jennings but I have to work.
Why is Sikeston playing Jennings on a Saturday anyway? I hope everyone takes extra precautions with their stuff because Jennings is a really bad neighborhood.
For that reason it self! That and I don't think they have lights
Preach, I don't believe that Jennings has lights. Either that or they share their field with someone else. Those inner city St. Louis schools play a lot of Saturday afternoon games.
Well that would explain it Sideline. Good luck to the Bulldogs tomorrow.
Appreciate it Preach. Same to the Beatcats tonight.
Valle is loosing 28-27 Valle has lost there QB they have a freshman playing QB he's 5'8 130 lb if he's out for awhile Valle is in major trouble
Jackson lost 27-14.. not bad for playing the 6th ranked team in 6A!
Valle is loosing by 8 with 3 to go! Dustin Johnson from herky has 6 TD and almost 400 yds rushing
Valle looses 41-39 to herky but bigger news is they lost there QB to a concussion!
All I can say is a win is a win! Cville's O-Line is missing Landon is a HUGE way. I'm glad our defense kept Hayti to just 6. They bent all night long but didn't break! Score was Cville 13-6
What was final tonight Preach?
Sounds like it was one heck of a game PMF. I know Hayti gave Caruthersville all they wanted tonight, Hayti has a very good QB that should have been the starter at the beginning of the year. I think they can upset some teams in the districts if they play like they did tonight.
Like Cheese said Landon was a huge loss for our line. I hope he gets healthy come district time we are gonna need him. St. Gen looks like a tough task next week but I think it has the potential to be a good game.
PHC 27, Dexter 7. The Rebels were ahead 8-7 at the half, but we really should've been up 17-8 at that point. PHC just grounded us down in the 2nd half. They didn't throw a pass in the 2nd half.
i might have to make it to that game then and meet ya!
I'd enjoy that Daddy. Let me know if you're going to make it and we'll try to meet up.
when exactly would that be? i might be down in the area that whole weekend if its during my fall break.
Cheese what happened tonight? Is HAYTI that good or the injuries taking its tole!
ok never mind... my fall break is next week...
Looks like Oct. 26 for the first district game Daddy.
With Valle losing does this change anyone's opinion on the winner if class 1 district 1?
Cheesehead, Grissom is going to need to have a big game passing the ball to loosen up SG's DL so Monroe can do his thing. Pass defense has been their achilles heel all season. Also the Tiger defense is going to have contain the Dragon QB's scrambling and short passing game. He won't hurt you passing long IMO. If Caruthersville can do those two things, I like your chances. Another key is going to be if Stricklin can keep Terrana at bay so Grissom can have time to pass.
Valle lost their QB for the game but that doesn't account for the insane amount of yardage Herky put up on them. I'd say 1A District 1 is up for grabs at this point. That said, it is Valle. Do not ever count them out, the kids know how to win. They have the state titles to prove it.
Semo Sports Player it doesn't change my mind at all as I've said all along Portageville has a great chance to upset Valle and win their district.
Preacher Man Fan, I agree with you. IMO Portageville is too fast for Valle to keep up with. But as Kzar said, Valle has the titles to prove they're capable of winning.
A really interesting match-up between Charleston and Malden that is.
well i might be there since its going to be on a friday. my birthday is the 25th. if we win you guys ought to take me out for a few beers! :)
No dice on the beers Daddy (Prov. 20:1), but happy birthday anyway! BTW, after taking a second look at the schedule, the first district game is scheduled for Oct. 25 on your birthday. The Bearcats will do their best to ruin it for you Daddy! LOL.
Wine is ok though....
That one guy turned water into it....
well i ain't planning on getting wasted. lol. i gotta drive back to springfield. i won't make it to the game. i got a freaking midterm at 630pm.
Zach, this isn't the place for a discussion of the different ways the word "wine" is used in the Bible, but if you're interested, I highly recommend "Bible Wines" by Patton. BTW, what did you think of the game last night?
Too bad you can't make it Daddy. Would've been good to meet you. Maybe next time.
i just looked at the district championship bracket on mshsaa's website and it says the 26th for the first game of the championship. is this bracket like the mlb playoff where there's a game before the actual bracket?
Anyone have the Sikeston score?
I heard Sikeston 33-14
Cheese I'm coming down early to grab a bite to eat! Got any recommendations?
Final Sikeston 33 Jennings 14

Preacher Man Fan, I thought Dexter looked good on their first drive. There were other times where they showed signs of life, but overall, they looked like a young team. They will most definitely be better next year.
The game was really sloppy for the first two quarters. PHC's Defense bailed them out during the first half....but the team showed a bit more of their true identity during the second half.
Outstanding officiating:

one heck of a fake
Yeah, that play fooled everybody, even the refs! The PHC coaches went nuts in the booth beside us when the refs blew that call! LOL.
Zach, I think the Rebels need to clean it up in terms of penalties and turnovers. I know they like to play ball-control offense, but Courtois needs to throw deep more to loosen up the defense. Last night, PHC didn't attempt one pass in the 2nd half. IMO, that needs to change if you want to make some noise in the playoffs.
This was the sloppiest game they've played all year. I guarantee you that they are not happy with the results and they will be handling business when Monday gets here.
Ok I just thought I'd throw that in there because that's what both teams have on their schedule
all class 4 district one first round games are thursday oct 25th...and yes TFA, scott county football played sikeston yesterday at the show me center...neal e boyd sang the anthem ;)
I know they don't have football guys! Lol
Just trying to help.
I was looking at the article about that game and it said Maplewood came from behind twice to win. I'm thinking it will be a tough game
Caruthersville played them a few years ago. They have great athletes, some fast ones as well. Sikeston should pull out the win but you just never know. After Valle losing to Hercky, no game is a given this time of year.
It would help if Chris Word is healthy enough to play this week.
