As most of you know, I am a Caruthersville Tiger fan, and have been for many years. Some of you also know that I do not like to broadcast injury information on the internet...for a couple of reasons: first, I think it is personal/private information of the player (they are just teenage kids); and second, I don't like to give out potential scouting information to our opponents. ;-) But never in my life do I remember a season where the Tigers have suffered so many injuries/illnesses.
I just found out yesterday that another of our starters suffered a broken bone and ligament damage in the game against Kennett, which will require surgery. He is the 4th starter to suffer a badly broken bone this year. He and 2 others are out for the season, while one is able to play with a cast on his hand. In addition to broken bones, we have several other players who are out for the year due to illness or other injury, and still a couple of others who are attempting to play through their injuries.
Not sure the point of my post, except to remind us all that these are kids playing a rough game. They all know that there is the potential for injury, and they are willing to accept that risk. It is just sad to see so many of our kids go down this year. I love to see tough, physical plays, but I never, ever want to see anyone hurt...regardless of the color of their uniform.
Dogg both are teams have suffered key injuries we have lost our top WR our LB our D-end and a lineman and all 4 are studs but our depth is awesome we have found some youngsters who can play!

Judge....fortunately, Sikeston has been able to overcome some injuries. We lost Matt Green, in the preseason, who is a VERY GOOD linebacker and O lineman. He would have made our D EVEN BETTER. Unfortunately for him, this is his senior year.
Also...well said about the kids getting hurt. I don't think anyone in their right mind wants to see any kid get hurt....like you said.....regardless of the name on their uniform. I know we all get wound up on here from time to time, but it is important to remember that they are kids / young adults playing a game. Bottom line.

I agree Judgedog. I've never seen a year where we have had so many injuries on our team. We've had some guys step up though and fill in nicely up to this point. Now I'm concerned about our depth at this point in the season. If we lose anymore, it's really going to start hurting us. I feel for the guys who are lost for the season. I know they wanted to be out there playing some football, esp the seniors.

Bleed, I know of the WR, LB, and D-end SG has lost to injuries, but who is the lineman they lost to injury?

What's important here is that we get as many kids as we can out under those Friday Night Lights to win one for the Gipper!! Never mind that many of them will have trouble walking by the time they are 40 years old or can't remember their name because of concussion induced dementia. Let's kill them on Friday night so all the adults go home feeling good about themselves.

Bogey, what put the bee under your bonnet? Have you ever been smacked in the head by a soccer ball? Physical sports have a risk for injury with each sport having different levels of risk. In basketball, you are more likely to have some type of leg injury. Baseball you can get a pitch up on your noggin. And in football, there are several different injury risks. Thankfully over the years the safety equipment has evolved and minimizes the risk to a great extent. However, I don't think you'd want to strap on the leather helmets used back in the '20's and play on today's field even at the high school level. And, seems to me some enterprising folks out there may be working to improve the equipment used to play football. Regardless of what some people may think, the sport remains popular and will be around for years to come.
It does seem that a few teams do have an unusual amount of injured players. Some of these teams are ones that may not have had a lot of players out before. If someone would do a statistical analysis on this, you'd probably see the overall injury rate staying about the same with maybe a outlier spike here and there. Those injuries become more noticeable when it's the STAR player who is out.

Cheesehead-are you guys talking about the stricklin kid or is there another injury from the Kennett game as well. A lot of tough breaks for CVille (no pun intended).

Landon Stricklin got injured last week against Kennett. Not sure on his status or how serious his injury is. It will be a tough loss if we lose him for the season that's for sure.

Was the play the injury occured caught on film? What were the circumstances? If you would rather not elaborate and maybe cause some bad blood I understand.

Im sure it is on film. I havent seen it if thats what your wondering. Not sure where an injury would cause bad blood so you got me confused on that part. Is there something im missing?

Looks like we lost Landon Stricklin for a few weeks at the least, probably the season. Read he has a tear in his MCL but not completely. I'm no doctor so I don't know the recovery time for that. According to the roster, that's our 8th injury, not including Darrell. Darrell is going to play tonight as well. Colt is playing tonight but will have to miss the next two weeks because he's getting cast off his hand. We should be fine tonight against Hayti though. Wish these young men the best who are injured and who can't play. Go Tigers!!!

It was also bad to hear the loss of Eric Villegas this year. This hard working young man played football all 4 years and this was his first year starting. I would like to say that he was one of the best if not overall most improved player. He was leading the team in the tackles category and I think was at the top on sacks too. Over my years as a Tiger fan 10+ I have only seen maybe 2 broken bones and this year we suffer so many serious injuries.
