Here we go again what another great week of football. Thanks to all who read and responded last week. Not a whole a lot of changes this week to my top 5. So here we go
1. SG - to all you Sikeston fans come watch the dragons Friday night in Cville. This team is hitting there stride there secondary is playing really good of late and there offense is awesome if you crowd the box Drury will beat u with the pass best SG team in years! JB better watch out
2. Sikeston- listen I read all your messages about how Sikeston would beat SG by 35! I hope you know that by you saying that you made me look a lot smarter then I really am! Sikeston is good but there playMing mostly Semo teams and IMO Semo football is avg at best this year! I do believe they will win there Dist though
3. PHC - the rebels will enter the Dist tourney as the #2 seed after everyone picking them to be a #1 but their looses come to Sullivan #6 in 4A and SG # 6 in 3A rebels will destroy There 1 rnd opponent but will struggle with Freddy in rnd 2 that will be a great game to watch my early prediction Freddy by 6!
4. Cville- if this team was healthy could make a lot of noise in playoffs they will get to see how good SG is on Friday night I'll give my prediction later! But I love how their coaches have found ways to win games. I did watch film of last nights game and will say this if they play like that against SG it will be a great ride home for my dragons!
5. Freddy- I like this team although they got their butts taken to the wood shed against SG a week ago in the 2 half! I believe they are better then that. They will get a chance to avenge a OT loss to PHC in the 2 rnd and I believe coach Henson will have his players ready to play I look for them to come back to SG in the champ game!
it is very difficult to beat a team twice in one year. SG better watch out for freddy. in '09 potosi spanked nmcc at potosi and then in the playoffs nmcc beat potosi at home.
the only things i have against this are.... i believe jackson is deserving of number 4. possibly even the number 3. freddy would be my number 6 team.
the better teams in semo, whichever teams you want to include, are all capable of beating everyone else at the top.

We don't agree much Bleed but I do think your Dragons are going to get the win friday night. As much as I love my Tigers, have to face the facts at this point. We can get by with the injuries against teams like Malden,Charleston,Hayti,NMCC, but against a great team like SG, I don't think we have enough depth. We will keep it close at half but I think SG pulls away in the 2nd half. People who know me on here know I don't just pick my team because I'm a fan. I pick who I actually think is going to win. Cville has the ability to win friday night, don't get me wrong. The subs on the line are going to have to play lights out in order for that to happen. Darrell is a stud but as I said before, I don't care how good you are at RB, if you can't get blocks for you, you will go nowhere. Hayti met him in the backfield all night last night. I say SG wins 38-14.

Why would we want to come watch your game when we have one of our own? Thanks for the invite tho! But since apparently SG is really awesome, why drive all the way to Caruthersville when apparently ya are going to win? You can stop by Sikeston and maybe we will lose and you can celebrate. And since all of SEMO teams are average heck why do we even bother to play? Also aren't you one of the guys that say ya are SEMO?? Sorry about that its awful to realize your only average also? But this is just my opinion of your comments I'm sure you will give me yours about mine.
-- Posted by TFA on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 5:47 PM
Sorry I usually don't let comments bother me so much and I'm sure your team is good and your proud of them like we are ours. I have no clue because the only football I keep up with is ours. I have no clue how far we will get but I will be there backing them like you will yours. But again, I can't wait until bball season. Lol
-- Posted by TFA on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 6:07 PM
you sikeston fans are why i hardly get on the basketball board if ever!
i don't think this is an average year for semo teams. maybe the typical perennial teams like farmington, north county, and new madrid. but freddy, sikeston, SG, PHC, jackson, and c'ville all have great teams in their respective classes.
if you're c'ville you better hope you have a lineman to line up against terrana or your rb's are screwed...
-- Posted by TheDaddy on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 6:13 PM
Jay Stricklin will guard him. He made all state last year. It's the other guys I'm more concerned with.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 6:18 PM
Cheese I really wish Cville was healthy I do I'm a fan of the game and I really think a healthy Cville team could hang with SG maybe even beat them! And just to clarify I don't want Sikeston to loose I really don't I just call it like I see it! And Daddy Freddy is better then Jackson and didn't we beat Freddy twice last year? I'll take my chances in a rematch when you got Stotzer and Weiler! Look at the PHC game first game last year we barely beat them 2 game we destroyed them same with Freddy!!

Oh and I'm not saying we are going to be awesome in bball I was joking because I thought Bleed Green says he doesn't do the bball thing. It was a joke but he did say the teams around here was average I'm glad you don't think so. Now I will go back to only commenting every once in awhile because I am old and ya will make my blood pressure rise !! Again a joke

I have to agree with sideline on this one again, you are a homer. I understand you love your team and all, but you brag way too much on your team. You have confidence in them, that's great. St. Gen would get beat by sikeston and I don't care what anyone says. You saying Jackson would get beat by Freddicktown is a freaking joke dude. Cape would beat Freddicktown and they might even beat your dragons. Jackson competed very well last night with the #6 team in class 6. I can tell you they are a lot better than you think. Another thing, I'm not bad mouthing your dragons at all, but I get tired of you bragging on them and I think so do a lot of others. Have you ever heard of being humble? You should try it.
-- Posted by redhawk11 on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 8:48 PM
I'm proud of my team so be it! So it's ok if Sikeston fans do it but I can't? I'm following Rachel's guidelines by what I talk about! And you can think what you want about who would beat who it's your right and everyone has there own opinion!! And mine is SG is best team in Semo!!
-- Posted by Bleed Green on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 8:58 PM
Guess I struck a nerve lol what a joke I speak the truth and anybody that has been at the games knows the truth I will leave it at that!!!!
-- Posted by cvilletiger02 on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 9:00 PM
Anyone that knows anything about football knows you are completely wrong with almost all of your opinions. I know you have a right to think what you want, but be more realistic with your opinions. Some of what you say is like me saying Jackson is going to win state, and we know that's not gonna happen unless they pull the St. Louis Cardinal rally.
-- Posted by redhawk11 on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 9:04 PM
Alright, I'm done with my rant. Sorry that I disagree with everything you say. I'm glad that you are a true fan of your team though. At least you don't jump on the bandwagon of other schools like some people.
-- Posted by redhawk11 on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 9:07 PM
Objectivity is what is needed by alot of posters on this thread including BG, redhawk11, and cvilletiger02. The truth is that Sikeston, Ste. Gen, Jackson, PHC, Fredericktown, Caruthersville, and even Cape (despite their poor record) are all very close in terms of talent. Any one of these teams is quite capable of beating any of the other teams. Those who deny that show they just haven't done their research.

Don't be an idiot!
Anybody that clicks on a post started by Bleed Green should expect bragging on SG.
DUH.

I don't think any name calling was necessary.

Who is your comment directed to Zach?
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 9:25 PM
Preach, Cvilletiger02 was bad mouthing and degrading players from his own team. He said something that was unnecessary and rude which is why his comments was deleted. He had nothing to say on the whole SG/Sikeston topic.
-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 9:25 PM
There was no name calling.
Anyone who complains about Bleed Green's posts will have the option of becoming an idiot by posting about it.
-- Posted by zachattack on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 9:28 PM
It may have appeared that I was singling someone out and calling them an idiot, but that was definitely not my intention. It's almost impossible to convey sarcasm/joking on the internet.
No disrespect was intended towards anyone personally.
-- Posted by zachattack on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 9:32 PM
Cheesehead, I know exactly what he said as I read his original comment before Rachel rightly deleted it. I thought that showed a complete lack of objectivity and knowledge on his part, didn't you? That's why I included him in my comment.
-- Posted by Preacher Man Fan on Sat, Oct 13, 2012, at 9:56 PM
Yup! Agreed! I didn't know if you saw his exact post or not.

I wont start a new thread, because obviously we don't need a new one lol. First off, to say one team is better or would definitely beat the team lower on the list is just asinine. The top tier teams in the area, anyone of them would give us some great matchups that could go either way on any given Friday.
Secondly, I am a PHC fan and very proud of it and the football being played in the northern portion of Southeast Missouri by the teams listed by me.
I've been able to see every team on this list be it on film or in person, and my opinions are only my own. I tried to be as objective as possible. If I left your team out, I'm sorry I just don't think they belong at this point, it isn't personal. All that said I give you my attempt at hijacking BG's top 5 thread.
SEMO Top 10
#1. Sikeston: No question at this point in the season. They have all the intangibles.
#2. Jackson: Again in my mind, no question. Both Jackson as well as Sikeston could be beaten by a few of the smaller schools to the north but that's not what this list is about.
#3. Ste. Gen: They blew out Fred and won a close one over my Rebels. They own the North as they have for years and years.
#4. Cape Central: I would have put them above SG before the Farmington game but alas that's the nature of the beast.
#5. Caruthersville: Even without Monroe, they just keep rolling. A close game last week may look like they may be slipping but don't be fooled. This teams only loss came against a state ranked opponent. They need to get healthy though.
#6. PHC: Defense/Defense/Defense. Teams just don't score many points on them. Offense is going to be their downfall I'm afraid though. They have their moments and there's no lack of talent but they don't have the potent high scoring offenses of the teams above and some below. They have ridden their D this far.
#7. Poplar Bluff: Rough schedule, they didn't come out of their gauntlet as well as the teams above. That said, they have the ability to play with every team on the board.
#8. Freddy: Got blasted by SG. Their Offense is way better than their D. They can play ball with anyone though. Need to learn to finish though.
#9. Portageville: I think they would have a tougher time with the above schools due to being 1A but they could hang with the majority. I think they will beat Valle in the playoffs this year.
#10. Valle Catholic: Another small school that most of the teams above would beat, but when healthy would give most defensive coordinators nightmares. Strong D just got outplayed last week. It happens.
Well there it is. My opinions all. Could there be an argument made on teams placement on the list? Of course. Even this late in the season nothing is set in stone. No one is guaranteed a district title or a trip to the dome. They play one game at a time til the playoffs and they are beaten by another team. Is that team better? Not necessarily. They were just better that day. So as the playoffs approach I wish all the teams luck and I hope we represent the area as well as I think we can.
Thread hijacking complete.

That's a nice list you got there no doubt Cville is depleted right now and the most critical Friday night will be Colt Callen and Jay Stricky. Hayti exploited alot of holes in our secondary but no points were scored through the air but converted alot of 3rd downs. We did not throw enough slants in the second half last week but I am sure Morgan and staff will try to pound out assignments this week. IMO we should sit all questionable injuries and let them get healed before districts.
