Portageville has away bleachers Buck! Not sure what side I'll be sitting on yet but probably Pville's side since there is a little more room. Yeah NMCC would have owned them the last 20 years. However, they have that program going in the right direction now and hopefully they can maintain it. It's really hard to put out a good program every year in small schools. Should be a good game either way.

Portageville has moved in additional bleachers on the visitor side in addition to bringing in additonal concession stands.

Also, they almost always schedule the last regular season game on Thursday.

I've never doubted SG..Obviously they are a good team seeing they are ranked in Class 3. Wish both teams were 100% but oh well, what team doesn't have injuries this time of year. Looking forward to a good game.

Portageville had the ball delivered to start the game by helicopter and shot fireworks off when the team ran on the field.

New Madrid played a good, well balanced game tonight. Portageville looked asleep on defense, with sissy arm tackles, no containment on the ends, and blown coverage in the middle. offense?

I think Beef deffinately hit on something. I know NMCC wanted this game bad. This is like Cville beating hayti or sikeston beating Notre Dame after not getting playing them for 27 years! I think it could be a sign of things to come sideline. #10 is a sophomore, our other running backs are sophs, our best defensive players are sophs and freshman, backup QB's are soph and freshman. And the 8th grade group coming up, I kid you not, is probably the most athletic group since the Tipler group. They are maybe a little better at basketball than football, but still very good at football. Great win tonight guys!! Keep it up!

Beef hit the nail on the head. They were just beat up front all night. They smelled blood early on and they kept attacking. Allen has the potential to be a next level back. He earned every yard he got tonight! Can't imagine the yardage that kid would have with a great line. Very impressed with him.

I just heard from NMCC fans that were at the game, that NMCC was running a completely different offense. Where's that been at haha!? I still can't believe they flew the ball in on a helicopter! Did they take it out on an ambulance!?

Bleed portageville is not overrated. From the few nmcc fan I've talked to they ran a totally new offense. This isn't the teams that we all have been watching this season. Yes I think the pre game festivities were a little extreme but hey who cares. It's just a game. Portageville just didn't show up to the game. Nmcc wanted it more. I hope the dogs see that and retaliate next week during districts. And if we get blown out by Valle, hey we gave it a good run. So go ahead and get all the bs out. Preacher Man, I've not heard any thing about Valle's QB, I only know what Bleed Green said. I did hear a rumor that there were a couple of MSHSAA officials in Ste Gen county today taking water samples. Some one told me they saw Sikestons coach up there at a gas station filling up gatorade containers with water out of the bathroom facet.

Bleed... Them flying the ball in had nothing to do with the coaches. If you was at the game all American don Hawkins received the game ball. If you didn't like it take it up with the school admin. What does our previous record have to do with anything. It's in the past. How many bad seasons has Malden had? Nmcc? Every team has a past. Let the bulldogs be proud of winning. Honestly Pville fans didn't know how this season would turn out. Glad to know everybody is against us since we are going in the right direction.

I don't buy the "NMCC wanted it more" argument. That had nothing to do with it. The better team won. It's that simple. Nothing was wrong with Portageville. They were beaten by a better team, and it wasn't even close. There seemed to be a lot of energy on both sides, there was a decent little crowd there that was buzzing, but it was clear that Portageville is not in the same league as NMCC. I'll be honest, I had this one picked wrong. I just assumed Portageville would roll, as did most folks based on previous scores. They will do well in Class 1, but they ran into a better team tonight.

Great win for NMCC, I for one did not see that coming. Maybe the old saw said by many on this forum that a Class 1 school can't compete with a Class 3 or 4 school is true. I do wonder if overconfidence bit P'ville in the butt on this one. I can remember several teams over the years that went into game guaranteeing victories only to come out with hanging heads.

As far as the swamp-rats complaining about Ste gen and the other northern teams being a part of southeastern Missouri, take it up with MSHSAA. Look at the maps for each class, 90% of the teams in District 1 are within 80 miles of the river and south of the Meramec River. I know there are some differences in the folks south the Diversion Channel and us hill folk north of it, but not that much. My Momma is from Qulin, MO, so I know all about cotton farming (but not rice farming, she moved out of there before that got big) The hill folk have LESS in common with those city jerks than you'd think.

I will say this though. I do think Portageville is better than they played last night. They still could contend for district 1.

Yes Portageville vs. New Madrid is a big rivalry. They are both the biggest schools in New Madrid county. many family members play on both teams against each other. They are only 15 miles apart, so many of the kids from the two schools hang out with each other on the weekends. There is also a lot of outside of school related stuff. Like New Madrid got the court house when portageville really wanted it. Also some stuff about when NMCC was created portageville didn't want to be consolidated, they wanted to keep their own school. It's pretty much that the towns are so close, everyone knows everyone. In basketball it is a HUGE rivalry!! Those games are always packed. Most people I've ever seen be thrown out of games are at NMCC-portageville games! Its just not talked about much since its only basketball, because football hadn't been played with each other since a few years after NMCC was created.

Between the courthouse, Portageville refusing to join NMCC and the whole Noranda tax money going to NMCC thing back in the 80's, there has always been a rivalry. NMCC wouldn't play Portageville in basketball while P'Ville was great and Portageville wouldn't play NMCC whenever NMCC football was on top. As close as they are, they should play every sport...

Their kids also go to the Vo-Tech school at NMCC..

Oh ya that's me the only thing I've ever said about my playing career was I had a good game against Freddy!! And Stgenevieve? It's no big deal were all just passionate about our teams!! FBG is just jealous of my good looks and big Muscles!! Haha

NMCC just is flat out a better team. Ive seen alot of their games. And they seemed to only have all their starters play 2 games together. Sikeston, and portageville. And Sikeston, is much better than portageville. And nmcc lost 12-0. So, the face new madrid smashed portageville was no surprise. Portageville was only undefeated because they play teams like St Pius and Chaffee. Which only beat a weak Chaffee team 21-6... Portageville has some great athletes, hands down. But they wasnt ready for bigger and better teams. I mean, NMCC proved it. And the score will be relatively the same when they play Valle Catholic.
