Cape will Win
Posted by CapeFan1 on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 2:23 PM:

Martin is ready to show SEMO area he is a force. I think Sikeston was lucky to win earlier this year in Cape. They will not be as lucky this time...

Cape Central 21

Sikeston 12

Bring on Hillsboro!!!

BillShakespeare looks forward to your exit from this site, as quickly as youve entered it, after your loss Wednesday.

-- Posted by BillShakespeare on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 2:34 PM

Exactly, hoops.

-- Posted by Rocket689 on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 2:36 PM

Sikeston will not even know what hit them... You all think Cardinal Ritter game was tough? Well, I will tell you this, if you all put the ball on the ground 7 or 9 times, whatever it was, we will probably have a 4th quarter turbo clock.

Trust me, WE ARE READY!!!

U BETTER HOPE SIKESTON'S BOYS ARE READY!!!

-- Posted by CapeFan1 on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 2:46 PM

Nice try Capefan0, but you already gave the reason why the Ritter game was tough. Turnovers, duuuh!

-- Posted by REDDIRT DOG on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 2:50 PM

As a Central fan, I smell a rat on this one!! Capefan came out of nowhere...Bet his zip code is 63801!!

-- Posted by bulletman on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 2:53 PM

I was thinking more like this Martin kid was writing it but who knows or who cares it will get people going cause everyone likes to argue.

-- Posted by TFA on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 2:59 PM

Trust me CapeFan1 Ive seen many of you guys come and go in the last couple of years and honestly Sikeston dominated 3 of the 4 quarters and came out flat defensively... -7 yards in the second half tells the true story so now that these guys know that if the come out the same way they could lose expect you may not get but 5 first downs all game and I would say at some point martin breaks 1 for a score but other than that BULLDOGS ROLL

-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 3:00 PM

And u guys think I'm delusional! Your a Homer haha

-- Posted by Bleed Green on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 3:17 PM

I am not a cape homer but i do think they have a good shot in this one. Sikeston's Defense, top 10 in the entire state any class. Offense... ugh you guys know of any flag football games going on by the ymca? bc that's their offense.. its word run or gross run or gross scramble and dodge people til someone gets open.

-- Posted by sportsnerd on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 3:25 PM

I gotta agree with Bleed Green on this one (Did I just say that?) Lol.. Capefan as a Jackson fan I put yall on upset alert to beat Sikeston this week but to say a score and almost guarantee a win... Smdh lol

-- Posted by footballfan29 on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 3:27 PM

The "YMCA" offense has worked pretty well so long as they hold onto the ball. I'd like to see Marquez Newman get involved a little bit more though.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 3:28 PM

Hello pot... I'm Kettle, You're Black....

Bleed Green calling someone a Homer is like saying President Obama is the one who messed up the economy.

REALLY???

I think Cape has a chance. (SLIM ONE), but I do feel that Sikeston turns the ball over WAYYYY to much. If they control the ball, the clock and offensive line it will be tough. If you all control these three things CapeFan1 and all his little buddies can stay at home and save gas. No reason missing out on all the candy Wednesday night to go to this game. It will be like taking candy from a baby!

I think Sikeston wins by 3 td's and I actually graduated from Cape Central... So, no HOMER here.

Bleed Green please tell us how good SG is!

LOL, Just kidding!

-- Posted by Mac N' Cheese on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 3:29 PM

Ok... we will see what happens on wednesday but I have a feeling That im not gonna be wrong

-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 3:31 PM

Well Barack certainly hasn't helped the economy.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 3:31 PM

I think someone has their holidays messed up cape fan, Wednesday is Halloween not April fools!! I decided I want to play also!

-- Posted by TFA on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 3:32 PM

That's a good one TFA. April Fools!! LOL!!!

-- Posted by Mac N' Cheese on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 3:34 PM

I wondered how good Sikeston would be if they limited the turnovers. I know Perryville was very weak, but, they answered my question last week. If Sikeston doesnt turn it over again this week, it may not be pretty for Cape. Sikeston wins, 38-14.

-- Posted by bulldogfan86 on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 3:42 PM

With athletes it does work against teams that have inferior athletes. I just don't think sikestons athletes are superior to Cape's. Maybe I am wrong. I am not from either town nor am I a fan of either. The only thing I do think is that Jackson is on the right track but slightly overated. Sikeston controlled them. Without a late score by Jackson to make it look more respectable it was a pretty lobsided game.

-- Posted by sportsnerd on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 3:44 PM

Look... We solved the issues with your basketball team the last couple years and Wednesday we will solve your football teams little riddle.

The only people that we are even worried about are linebacker #66 and Defensive End #33 on defense and Word & Gross on offense. We're concerned with focusing more on Word this game. Last time we were shocked with the running ablity of Word and didn't even have him on our radar. He was the difference in that game. (I just feel now we know his weakness is holding on to the ball) We will have both Gross and Word in check and don't expect any issues containing them.

-- Posted by CapeFan1 on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 3:57 PM

What I think is lost on everyone (both Sikeston fans and unbiased observers) is the improvement the offensive line has made over the course of the season. That group caught a lot of flack all the way through the Poplar Bluff game but have been pretty darn good since then. I think that will help Sikeston the rest of the way instead of being a hindrance.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 3:57 PM

Hook, line, and sinker!!!!

-- Posted by Rocket689 on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 4:01 PM

I think Rocket said it best on another thread! If Sikeston limits the turnovers to 2 or less, they win. I think, any more than that, it could get interesting. I don't see a blowout by either team.

-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 4:03 PM

You only worry about 4 players? Wow! Well I guess the rest of the team can do whatever they want and not have to worry about it

-- Posted by TFA on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 4:08 PM

Sikeston defense has made capes offense look pretty ymcaish the past few years, so idk if id go that route.

Ive heard this story one to many times

-- Posted by Dustin Ruby on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 4:14 PM

capes offense isn't YMCA.. it's we're running the ball try and stop us.. problem is sikeston just stops it.. huge difference in shotgun 3 wide and a double wing t offense

-- Posted by sportsnerd on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 4:43 PM

I hope Sikeston has cleaned up its kickoff game since the Cape game...pathetic...that being said...Sikeston doesnt fumble...they win...they fumble...Cape wins...who can handle the immense pressure??

-- Posted by RedShirt on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 4:54 PM

I had a jolly good time reading this comic strip from capefan.

"Sikeston ..... Who are they, a one dimesional team that will have its first loss come about 7 pm Thursday night!!!"-bocky68

"I can't wait for Thursday when Cape gives Sikeston a beatdown then the following week when Hibbetts passes all over you guys to put you 1-2 in districts and miss the playoffs." BB-BORE

"Sikeston fans: stop living in the past..cool central hasn't had the best last 3 seasons but thats not gonna change the butt wooping they're gonna put on sikeston this thursday"-JungleStud

Final Score: Sikeston 21 Cape 0

Before the Sikeston-Cape football rematch from Monday, November 8, 2010:

"Bulldogs it's payback time! Tigers are coming and they gonna drive that ball down your throats. You better be ready!!!!!hahahahahaha"-Buzzard Bill

"We don't need anyone to tell us we are better than the Bulldogs... We will just let the scoreboard talk for us on Monday night."-TigerPride11

"I'm not say Central will win but Sikeston's not going to blow them out and neither team will score more than 30."-semoballfan93

Final Score: Sikeston 40 Cape 0

--------------------

Before the Sikeston-Cape basketball game for the SEMO Conference Tourney Championship on Friday, December 10, 2010

"So according to the info provided by the Sikeston faithful, anything other then an undefeated State Championship title would be a disappointment and would be considered underachieving."-uncommon_sense

"howard shuting down branch? not in a million years..not only will howard not shut down branch but sikeston won't shut down cape. point blank period."-JungleStud

"Inspector how are you going to ask if our big men can run the court the entire game?? I believe it's pretty obvious they are in wayyyyyyyy better shape then Corey...so shouldn't the question be, "can Corey run the court". Highly doubtable.."-ctjungle2010

"How is sikeston going to be better than last years team when they lost their 2 best players? Because anybody that saw any Sikeston game last year knows that if Wiggins or Jackson wasnt facilitating the offense nothing happened. Cape figured that out and beat them."-doinwork

Final Score: Sikeston 76 Cape 55

--------------------

Before the Sikeston-Cape basketball rematch from Friday, February 11, 2011:

"if cape can handle sikeston's press(which i'm sure they will) this game won't even be close because i know for sure sikeston's 2-3 zone won't be able to stop cape in the half court"-.neverever.

"I say if sikeston wins by single digits sikeston fans have no bragging rights. Simply bc every fan on here has called at least a double digit victory..fair enough?"-JungleStud (tons of gems from him)

"Pretty sure if cape stops sikeston from steals that lead to runouts, that 2 6'5" bigs can contain sikeston inside (Lane & Tisdell) and sikeston has ZERO Curtis Branch's... Let me repeat... 0!"-CHSbaseball

"When things click, CHS is a great team. Capable of beatin any team in the area. All you do is go back to games when things weren't clickin. So if you're gonna call out a great team callin em terrible then youre crazy."-Sanitary South

"if sikeston wins, and thats a BIG IF, itll be by no more then 10."-ctjungle2010

Final Score: Sikeston 75 Cape 57

--------------------

Before the Sikeston-Cape football game on Friday, October 21, 2011:

"We honestly match up against you guys better, we aren't really big teams but both have great speed and many athletes. You will NOT wear us down, I can assure you of that."-BB-BORE

"Cape wins by 14 points"-TheTank

OK, so this game was a bit of a disappointment in the trash talk department. Anyway...

Final Score: Sikeston 47 Cape 17

--------------------

Finally, before the Sikeston-Cape football game on Friday, October 5, 2012:

"I know every year other idiots from Cape get on here and say "this is our year to beat SIKESTON", but I for one never thought we would win, but didn't think we would get embarassed like we did. I am almost 100% sure Sikeston's offense will not have a chance against us this season. Out D will annoy them at the line and on the other side of the ball I don't think Sikeston's Defense is ready for a talented team!"-TigerPride11

"I just feel that we are so much more improved this season that we will make the adjustments needed to finally put an end to Sikeston's dominance. This year Sikeston isn't as solid as they were last year on the Offensive line, last years line was both big and athletic. I also think last years overall skill positions were better than this season, EXCEPT for QB"-CapeFan1

Final Score: Sikeston 25 Cape 21

--------------------

In conclusion, when we see the Cape faithful talk trash, I feel good about the chances of Sikeston. The Bulldogs will have to play great to win like always but I'm glad the bulletin board material is here for the sake of us fans as much as anything. This was a lot of fun to put together.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 5:56 PM

I see a quote in Cape paper where Mr Martin says we are coming down, well as they say on The Price is Right, Come on down.

-- Posted by lastride67 on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 6:09 PM

Its hard to be worried about a team you have beaten 5 times in a row, if you were going to beat sikeston it would have been that night in the regular season. The problem is by playing them close they are not going to take you lightly this time and you wont get 21 in the first quarter. The fact that they were able to wake up and still beat you shows how much better they are than cape... now it is a different game with martin but unless Cape has been hiding 2 more clones of him Its not gonna be a fun night to be a tiger

-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 6:18 PM

Can someone please tell me why people are hyping Cape! This is cape central every year they under achieve cape is by far the largest town in Semo and they still can't field a decent team! Seriously with all the talent in cape and they can't win and win consistent! Look at SG Freddy PHC all population around 5000 and they win and win consistently! Does cape even have a state title? Please stop talking about them like there an elite program!! Sikeston will beat them and beat them easy

-- Posted by Bleed Green on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 7:44 PM

Sonic, I'm hoping the Sikeston defense of the last three quarters of the first Cape game will show up for the second. I feel like Cape really needs to change up their offense.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 8:39 PM

I agree that Cape needs to change up their offense but they have to find a different kind of quarterback to do that. Vincent isn't a runner and not much of a passer so they have to rely on their running game. I think it will be a close game unless Sikeston scores quickly like they did 2 years ago when they played at Houck and both were undefeated. That game got ugly quick. Bleed--How many people are in the town has no relevance to good football teams if kids don't like playing football. In many small towns the football program is a what brings the town together. There used to be small towns that shut down on Friday afternoons to go to the local high school football games. In Cape football just isn't that big of a deal. I bet there aren't 200 people from Cape there Wednesday and I'm a Central fine. That's not a knock on Cape but they just aren't that interested and that's fine. There are bigger things in life.

-- Posted by bulletman on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 8:55 PM

Bullet, how does the Cape staff normally go about developing their QBs? As most know, three of the last four years, the guy at QB for Sikeston was playing there for pretty much the first time their senior year (Wiggins and Lewis had never played before and Gross has very limited experience at the position from his junior year. Foster was the only exception). It seems like most of Cape's QBs the last couple of years have been managers and relied on the running backs for most of the yardage.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 9:01 PM

I should have said Vinson not Vincent.

-- Posted by bulletman on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 9:01 PM

Vinson and Boreboom were the QBs in 8th grade. Same with Cavaness. Cape seems to lock onto a kid and bring him up through the system. Central is loaded with good running backs this year and I would have tried to develop one of them in the offseason like Gibbs does but that isn't Capes style. The same will be true when Vinson graduates. The kid behind him played QB in the 8th grade and is now JV qb unless someone moves in. By the way, we hear a lot about Sikeston, Fredericktown and Hayti football on SEMO ball. Do you know what they all have in common?

-- Posted by bulletman on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 9:13 PM

Gibbs coached at all three. I know that. Took Hayti to the championship game back in the late-eighties I believe.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 9:15 PM

And they all sucked when he took them over!! I believe Hayti went to the finals in '85. I hope it's a good game Wednesday.

-- Posted by bulletman on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 9:24 PM

The man knows how to get the most out of his kids and makes a great mentor for them. There are very few people in Sikeston who garner as much respect as he does. Obviously, I'd love for Wednesday to be a great game as well.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 9:26 PM

Either way I'll be happy. Cape has a bunch of really good kids that are seniors so I hope it stays close and is competitive.

-- Posted by bulletman on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 9:31 PM

Cape has just as much ability to be good at football as sikeston and at the end of the day it comes down to gibbs and his staff being better than Cape's staff.

-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 9:36 PM

I think it will be funny seeing the Cape players walk off the field with the W

I will come on here afterwards and say "I WAS WRONG IF IT'S THE CASE", but I don't think you will be hearing it...

WE GOT DIS!!!

-- Posted by CapeFan1 on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 9:40 PM

Sikeston defensive coordinator coach Mcgill owns Norman's offense...

-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 9:41 PM

WE WILL SEE...

-- Posted by CapeFan1 on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 9:44 PM

I guess CapeFan got his homework done. Time for some milk and cookies and get to bed!

-- Posted by bulletman on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 9:46 PM

Sikeston has given up 62 points to cape in the last 6 meetings and at least 6 of those points were from defense... As an offensive guy if you arent putting up more that that in 6 meetings at some point you just gotta come out and say you get out coached by that guy because its not like sikeston is that much more talented than Cape

-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 9:51 PM

I would have to agree... Your coaching staff is better than ours!

I just think we will finally be able to solve the riddle.

I guess I'm off to bed now that I have had my milk and cookies. Bulletman=not funny

-- Posted by CapeFan1 on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 10:06 PM

CapeFan---What time does school start in Sikeston? Tell Coach Gibbs I said hi tomorrow when you are at practice!!

-- Posted by bulletman on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 10:08 PM

SG would beat both Cape and Sikeston. They also would win by 2 scores if they combined both teams and allowed 15 players to play against SG's 11 man squad. Discuss...

-- Posted by Kzar on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 10:11 PM

The president before Obama was the worse in the history of presidency!!!! BUSH!!! Nobody could clean that mess up in one term!!!!!

-- Posted by He hate me on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 10:29 AM

Hate....Obama has very nicely taken the mantle of "worst president in history" from Carter. I'm sure Jimmy is proud to get that monkey off his back.

Not sure you want to debate Sideline about Politics. Kinda his forte. A few of the posters know what I mean lol.

-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 10:59 AM

This game is what the new playoff system is all about. It allows 2 mediocre teams to puff up their chests for for a week or two at the end of the season. Both will be playing basketball in a week.

-- Posted by Bogey Man on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 11:03 AM

I have known Kent Gibbs all the way back to his Hayti days and i can tell you he knows how to get the most out of his kids. He coached Football and Wrestling at Hayti and brought both from nothing to State championship programs! Long after he left they still have a long tradition of winning. Same with Fredericktown. He will have the boys ready to play Wednesday you can bet on that! I say Bulldogs 35 Tigers 14.

-- Posted by Buzzard Bill on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 11:37 AM

Please God, dont let this forum turn into a political debate I get enough of that crap... Just so you know nobody cares what your political opinion is. Everybody from the other party will bash the president and blame him for every problem there is in the world... Right or not in your eyes Id assume that every president has tried to do what's best for the country in their's. And until we have a president that just gives the US to the Chinese I will continue to voice my George Washington likee anti political party opinion

-- Posted by bulletman on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 1:05 PM

I have a question for you Sikeston fans. I saw the picture of JT Jones on the main page and he looks like he's in great shape this year. He has a great build for football, does he just not like to play? He could be a force on that D-line.

-- Posted by Cheesehead. on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 1:33 PM

Cheese---I'm not from Sikeston but he was the tailback when he was in the 8th grade...Not sure how long he played but he was good.

-- Posted by bulletman on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 1:39 PM

He played some last year then he quit. Maybe he wants to only play one sport alot of kids are doing it now.

-- Posted by TFA on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 1:46 PM

some people dont want to play o line

-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 2:21 PM

JT is a GREAT kid and an unbelievable athlete! More importantly, he is a great student. Sikeston is lucky to have him. He is very-well suited to play D line or O line. He has indicated to me that he may play football next year.

Cheese....what great eyes you have! JT is coming into the hoops season probably in the best shape of his life. He has dropped a few pounds (not that it was a problem before) and he is in fantastic shape. He is going to be an ABSOLUTE monster this year!

-- Posted by Rocket689 on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 2:52 PM

I was just working a joke in from the material Mac n Cheese gave me. Didn't mean to incite a political discussion with a guru as knowledgable in the political process as He Hate Me. I'll let him be the one to educate you all. Hah. If anybody is actually curious about my political thoughts (I know that's a ton of you), refer to my Twitter.

In regards to JT, as far as I know, he's wanting to focus on basketball because he wants to get Sikeston to a state title this year. Perhaps (and this is just speculation with no supporting facts) he could decide to play next year for fun like Darryl Howard and Janiel Hatchett did their senior years but basketball is his focus.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 2:57 PM

I have to agree that JT is going to be a monster this year. Him and super V are going to be one heck of a combo.

-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 3:07 PM

Yep, Sonic. Our depth is, again, going to be a strength. Maybe even more so than 2011. I've got high hopes for this team.

-- Posted by Rocket689 on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 3:46 PM

Terry Jamison was our bball qb. Who's gonna replace him? Man he was good, hardly any turnovers. I know, this is off subject!

-- Posted by cirithungol17 on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 4:06 PM

Sideline--I saw on another post that you would be at the Ole Miss/Vandy game...I'll be in the grove as well for that game...Hotty Toddy!! They are better this year than I thought they would be..

-- Posted by bulletman on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 5:11 PM

Way better than we all thought Bullet. Let me know where you'll be tented at and I may try to come by and say hi.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 5:13 PM

Jamison is irreplaceable. Not saying Sikeston won't have someone capable of running the point, but that kid was special.

-- Posted by Captain Awesome on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 5:15 PM

No doubt it's hard to replace Terry. However, Vashawn Ruffin and Jarius Ray will handle the 1. Look for J Ray to open some eyes!

Sikeston is about to end capes season in another sport tonight dc4

-- Posted by Dustin Ruby on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 5:28 PM

This has been entertaining. As a Cape graduate I have my opinions on who the new fan boy might be if he is from Cape. As for the coaching staff and play book; Cape had this offense before Norman took over. I am a little surprised he hasn't changed it, but then again he played for teams that were very run dominant. Sikeston's staff is very good in just about every sport though. Another big thing for this game will be the mental side. Several of these Cape players will put there head down if they get down early, at least they used. Hopefully Coach Norman has worked that out of them this year, because they really don't need to take what happens on one side of the ball back on the field on the opposite side. Short term memory will be key.

-- Posted by CapeAlum on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 5:35 PM

Ok rocket, lets hope theyll step it up at the point!! Yah how cool is that, we play capesoccer 2nite and capefball 2moro! We need a doubleheader sweep!! Its gonna be tuff to do though, cape is talented both nites!

-- Posted by cirithungol17 on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 5:37 PM

This has nothing to do with this comments but Rocket I saw where u had 68 on the football thing in newspaper I had 64. I came in 2nd once. Wonder if u win the tv?

-- Posted by TFA on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 6:29 PM

Don't let Rocket tell you about his experience with the newspaper football thing. He'll just yell.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 6:32 PM

Oh ok then forget it Rocket! Lol

-- Posted by TFA on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 6:35 PM

Troll Bait.........

SG will get their melons thumped by PHC next week.

-- Posted by zachattack on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 6:57 PM

Not going to work Zach! You better worry about Freddy who u barely beat in OT!! Thanks to a bogus penalty!!

-- Posted by Bleed Green on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 7:05 PM

Fredericktown didn't score a single point after the half.....penalties are penalties.

-- Posted by zachattack on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 9:12 PM

Lol, whatever dude we're fans. We can look as far ahead as we want with no repercussions. The coaching staff and the boys have to stay focused but we're not required to.

Oh my bad. Repercussion means an Unintended consequence taking place sometime after an event or action.

Crap. You know what consequence means right? I'll tell you later, lol. This is fun.

-- Posted by Kzar on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 11:11 PM

Zack I beleave it'll be another BOB&BOB show like last year.

-- Posted by SGFAN on Tue, Oct 30, 2012, at 11:20 PM

TFA....I picked Potosi over NMCC (who was leading the whole game, then lost at the end) and I ended up finishing in a 5-way tie for first. I led the last 3-4 weeks. I'll let you guess where I finished....that's right....5th after they drew our names out of a hat. LOL! I got 2 Mizzou tickets and a $20 gift certificate to Susie's.

The moral of the story is don't ask sideline for any help on picks. He told me to go with Potosi. I lay the blame squarely at his feet!!! LOL!

-- Posted by Rocket689 on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 8:48 AM

I guess it would be better to ask who u are picking, then pick opposite??? lol

-- Posted by barkleyfan on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 11:58 AM

What he isn't telling you is that he called me each and every week that he was in the lead saying "I'm in the lead and don't want to lose it. I need you to tell me who to pick." and was going to take all the credit while leaving me all of the blame. I can't help that Potosi blew a 21 point lead to New Madrid. It isn't like I told him to take East Prairie over Sikeston or something. I also can't help the fact that ole Jupiter head is too scared to pick on his own. Personally, I think he owes me one of the Mizzou tickets.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 11:59 AM

sideline.....can you say "hyperbole?" Yep. That's EXACTLY how it went. LOL

The ole reverse psychology trick, huh chuck???

-- Posted by Rocket689 on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 12:56 PM

I can say hyperbole but there is none of it in this situation. Any other eighth grade English words you want to spring on me? Participle? Gerund? Just admit you used me for weeks and then kicked me to the curb the second things didn't come up exactly as you want it.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 1:00 PM

How about dangling participle?? How about exonerate or expunge? What about absconded? Those are cool words!! LOL

Used and abused....

-- Posted by Rocket689 on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 1:14 PM

Sideline---I hang out in 2 or 3 tents depending on who all is there. I'll let you know..Hope it's not one of those 11:00 games.

-- Posted by bulletman on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 1:24 PM

....the BOB & BOB show could be a re-run from a couple of seasons ago. Check with your local cable provider.

-- Posted by zachattack on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 1:32 PM

Bullet, it's a six o'clock game which will be nice for groving but chilly for watching.

Rocket, you got two Mizzou tickets out of the deal. I know their retail value at this point in the season is only $12 for the set but you get free tickets and cry abuse?

-- Posted by sideline starter on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 1:34 PM

Well I got that one right Rocket. This last time I only missed the Scott City one and our points. I had won the $20 for Suzies u can't get alot. I knew there was a 5 way tie for first I wonder who won the TV then ? I told them they need to do one for bball.

-- Posted by TFA on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 1:40 PM

Zack i did miss 2 of the last 13 seasons did we lose them episodes, mite mave to catch the re-runs! HA!HA!

well I was wrong... I guess I didnt account for the fact that this group never was apart of sikeston learning how to win and was just apart of the winning... ball security was bad all year, also cape is gonna have their hands full on monday

-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 9:09 PM

That was a game we should have won Sonic. It's too bad.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 9:10 PM

Seriously sonic? A group never learning how to win? Wow! You are a piece of work! How far did you make it last year? One more game? I guess winning one more game makes you part of learning how to win!

-- Posted by mmorse on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 9:15 PM

He made it to the same round mmorse.

You know I know there is smack talk on the lines and everything but thinking the N word isn't necessary just saying. But on a positive note I don't have to freeze anymore and I'm ready for bball!

-- Posted by TFA on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 9:30 PM

But if were gonna dwell in the past last years team would have beat this years... and thats nothing against this years seniors they were burdened with carrying the load of an average group of juniors

I wonder why you think that! Hahaha!!!!

It's fun to stay the YMCA!! like I said, no real offense just backyard ball and it finally bit ya.. yeah yeah you cost yourself by fumbling but so did cape.. couple big plays but can't sustain a drive

-- Posted by sportsnerd on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 9:51 PM

calm down, Sikeston won 6 straight, you were bound to win eventually

-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 9:54 PM

Sports nerd I'm thinking you said we would win so why are u acting like u said cape would?

-- Posted by TFA on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 9:56 PM

I know TFA I'm ready for bball. I'f u fumble it can Hurt.. SHS will have to try again next year congrats to Cape You never know Cape may give them a run n Basketball as well. Time will tell

I wouldnt bank on beatin cape next year...

-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 10:01 PM

That was a great high school game. Sideline---I don't disagree with you often, but in my opinion Cape dominated the second half except for that one play where gross scored after the fumble by Cape. You know I'm no homer as I really like Gibbs but Cape was the better team tonight.

-- Posted by bulletman on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 10:02 PM

Well hello stlfan. Now I can tell its close to bball cause your on here

-- Posted by TFA on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 10:02 PM

I'm biased by grumpiness right now Bulletman. I thought we should have never put Cape in a situation to be within a TD by the fourth. I'll be better tomorrow. Hah.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 10:04 PM

Congrats Cape good luck Monday night because I didn't see us getting past Monday night but now I don't have to worry about it.

-- Posted by TFA on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 10:06 PM

Well you know I'm no basketball guy so only a few more days of semoball for me. I was surprised that more people weren't at the game. I wish Missouri was like Tennessee and played all games on Friday.

-- Posted by bulletman on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 10:16 PM

I don't understand why you're not a basketball person Bullet. I'm more basketball than football.

-- Posted by sideline starter on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 10:18 PM

Yep, I was ready for basketball season, but not THAT ready! My hat's off to CT, that last drive was all heart. My Dogs showed their biggest weakness(fumblitis)and it cost them a shot at redemption against Hilsboro. Best of luck to Central, Jackson, and Caruthersville in the coming weeks, play hard and represent! #roundball #BulldogPride

-- Posted by DukePhan on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 10:23 PM

-- Posted by BuckMajor on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 10:26 PM

I predicted a sikeston win but also stated I thought cape had a great chance, much better than any sikeston, or most, we're giving cape.. sikestons defense is good, I've already stated that, but for the athletes they have their offense is very average

-- Posted by sportsnerd on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 10:45 PM

What hurt Sikeston was a soft schedule. That team didnt challenge their self much this year. Great win CT! Lets get a win on Monday!

-- Posted by Bigups35 on Wed, Oct 31, 2012, at 10:48 PM

TFA I will hit it an quit this bball season lol I'll speak my mind an move on. New era for me not getting into the grumpy hall of fame. See u on the bball forum TFA.

-- Posted by stlfan38 on Thu, Nov 1, 2012, at 7:43 AM

You know I will be there, this is the most I've talked on football I'm learning it a little better now. And the guys aren't being mean to me for my comments. Most know I'm female and I'm learning. Lol

-- Posted by TFA on Thu, Nov 1, 2012, at 8:22 AM

Bigups....Sikeston's "soft" schedule didn't hurt them. Fumbles did... Gotta give credit to Cape. They made the plays when it mattered and the Dogs didn't. The screen on 4th and 10 on the last drive was a great call by Cape.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda....but the fumbles cost Sikeston the game. I was worried right off the bat when we fumbled the opening kickoff. You can't fumble going into the endzone and fumble near the red zone...not if you expect to win. Fumbling is kind of like a virus....once it starts, you just can't get rid of them.

-- Posted by Rocket689 on Thu, Nov 1, 2012, at 8:46 AM

Nah, schedule had nothing to do with this. It's the same schedule they've always played basically. I don't think playing Rockhurst, Jeff City and Hazelwood would have fixed Sikeston's fumble problems. Fumbles and, ultimately, injuries cost them this game. Losing Spenser Clark for the season proved to come back and bite them in the end. Sikeston's probably 11-0 right now if Spenser never gets hurt but that's part of it. People get hurt and you've got to adapt and overcome it and Sikeston couldn't. They overcame it against Cape the first time in a game that could have gone either way, but they couldn't this time. Amazing how about three or four plays at the end were the difference between winning and losing. Coming up a yard short on a fourth down run to ice the game. Running out of bounds with less than three minutes allowed Cape to keep a timeout that proved costly and probably saved a minute of clock time for Cape. Missing two interception chances on Cape's final drive. Not getting the stop on 4th and 13.

-- Posted by semohoops on Thu, Nov 1, 2012, at 9:05 AM

Ive been quite this football season an I agree rocket watching the mass amount of fumbles against Cardinal an then

Again against Cape. You can't carry the ball openly as the running back does for SHS. Guys poking at the ball helmets hitting The Ball an just no security for slippy out your grip. SHS didn't have a problem hitting but very much protecting the ball. I guess u have a soft schedule when you play local SMH. SHS played quality teams even beat u Cape. They watch alot of film an came prepared to win r go home. Cape won. Now I'f Cape were in 5A class would they have made it out of districts probably not who's to say. SHS loss you Won still part of the Bootheel go try an win Monday

-- Posted by stlfan38 on Thu, Nov 1, 2012, at 9:11 AM

hoops....I forgot about the 2 picks that we missed. And, like you said, we pick up the first down with 2 minutes to go and we close it out right there. I don't remember the running out of bounds... We definitely had our chances to stop them on the last drive. I think they had 3 4th down plays where they converted (at least 2 4th down conversions). The D played well in spite of all of the fumbles. We just went to the well one too many times.

-- Posted by Rocket689 on Thu, Nov 1, 2012, at 9:22 AM

I know Sikeston lost redshirt, I was there. That's why we have the blogs, so we can discuss and analyze what happened. We will move on when we're through discussing. Thank you for your participation in this dicussion.

-- Posted by semohoops on Thu, Nov 1, 2012, at 11:29 AM

Fumbles certainly cost Sikeston but you're acting like Cape never fumbled..Martin had a huge fumble when Cape was driving for a score which allowed Gross to run the 65 yard touchdown. The fumble that Sikeston had early that went through the endzone was AFTER another Martin fumble. You never know what would have happened had there been no fumbles and we will never no...It was a fun game to watch

-- Posted by bulletman on Thu, Nov 1, 2012, at 11:55 AM

No doubt fumbles were costly for both teams. Sikeston lost three and Cape lost two. The one that Martin fumbled to start the third quarter was negated by the fumble through the end zone so that one didn't cost them. All three of Sikeston's fumbles were very costly. Obviously fumbling into the end zone is a 7-point swing. The fumble on the opening kickoff led to 3 points. And the fumble in the third quarter led to a short field touchdown. Credit Cape for taking advantage of the situation fumbles. Sikeston did not other than Kyland's long run after Martin's last fumble.

-- Posted by semohoops on Thu, Nov 1, 2012, at 12:01 PM

Hoops you are correct that on the scoreboard (which is what matters)Sikeston only benefitted from one of Capes fumbles. I was just making the point that without Martins fumble Word would have never had the ball to fumble through the endzone. One thing I don't understand about Cape is why they put freshmen back to return kicks in a big game. With all the upperclass running back talent that was a strange move for Cape.

-- Posted by bulletman on Thu, Nov 1, 2012, at 12:17 PM

Sik has a pretty stout defense all yr, I'm not sure if sik gave up 100yds all season but Martin was able to run for 170? That's a lot of tough running! I noticed they ran away from Nichols for the most part... Martin missed the 1st game & IMO proved to be the difference in the game. Gross had his normal game but take away his 65yarder, cape did a good job of containing him in this one... Gross was good this yr, I can see him playing slot back he reminds me of #4 Davis for semo... I think he can play that on next level.

sikeston lost...I cant go on in life :(

-- Posted by RedShirt on Thu, Nov 1, 2012, at 4:36 PM

Sikeston no showed last night. I'm willing the lay money that the team overlooked Cape Central. Not saying the coaches did, but I remember being young and arrogant and having beaten Cape as many times as the Bulldogs did over the past several years, they most likely did overlook Cape.

Look semohoops, I knew we would win!!! I called it and talked it and we did it! I'm not from Sikeston and i havent checked in any of my equipment yet. I'm just glad we did what i said we would do. Did we win as big as i thought we would, no!

All i can say is bulletman I'm sorry anout the mom joke, i didn't even think about thst when i said what i did. I'm in no way trying to be a jerk. In closing Ky Gross about ended our year all by himself on offense, but thank the lord up high SIKESTON CAN'T HOLD ON TO ANYTHING.

I didn't feel i needed to come on here cause most have taken their crow and liked it. I'm just glad i don't have to read sidelines top five anymore... at least unless cape's in it.

Oh, Sikeston will not make it out of Districts in basketball either
