High School Football Forum: District Seedings After Week 5

Continuing the discussion, here are the District seedings after Week 5 action:

Class 1:

Seed Team Record Points

1 Valle Catholic 5-0 54

2 Chaffee 5-0 53

3 Thayer 3-2 46.12

4 St. Vincent 3-2 44.02

5 Portageville 2-3 33.5

6 Crystal City 1-4 31.7

7 Cabool 0-5 25.3

8 Hayti 1-4 24.75

Valle continues in the driver seat, but Chaffee is still in the hunt. Looks like Chaffee has a more difficult schedule, with Malden and a surprising Jefferson remaining. Not sure why Cabool has a few tens more points than Hayti.

Class 2:

1 Caruthersville 4-1 45.3

2 Malden 4-1 42.35

3 Jefferson 4-1 41-05

4 St Pius 3-2 33.35

5 Charleston 2-3 32.9

6 East Prairie 1-4 23.5

7 Grandview 1-4 20.53

8 Scott City 1-4 18.45

This class looks pretty well settled. Regardless of else happens with Malden & Caruthersville, the argument will be to use the head-to-head to determine the top seeds. Unless by some miracle Jefferson comes on strong and both the Tigers and Green Wave falter the next few games. I just don't see that happening.

Class 3:

1 PHC 5-0 49

2 Ste. Gen. 3-2 38.1

3 Potosi 3-2 35.3

4 NMCC 2-3 30.1

5 Fredericktown 2-3 29.7

6 Dexter 1-4 25.5

7 Kennett 1-4 20.23

8 Lift for Life 0-5 15

The slug-fest between PHC and Ste Gen last week probably settled the top two spots here, barring a collapse by PHC and/or SG. PHC plays Potosi this week, while improved over the last couple years, is probably not strong enough to beat PHC. However, you never know... PHC's only other "quality" opponent remaining is Bowling Green. Elsewhere, the head-to-head between NMCC and FredMo should settle the 4&5 slots. NMCC must be getting bonus for strength of schedule and playing up by playing Sikeston.

Class 4:

1 Sikeston 5-0 45.4

2 Festus 4-1 40.3

3 Hillsboro 3-2 37.1

4 N. County 3-2 36.6

5 Cape Central 1-4 30.4

6 Farmington 1-4 24.4

7 Perryville 2-3 23.65

8 DeSoto 1-4 20

Sikeston is in the driver seat now, but they have a tough Jackson team this week. Should Festus beat NC and Jackson beats the Bulldogs, things could get interesting. Hillsboro and NC look to finish with the 3 & 4 spots.

Class 5:

1 Vianney 3-2 41.86

2 Jackson 4-1 40.3

3 Poplar Bluff 2-3 29.3

4 Fox 2-3 28.1

5 Rckwod Summit 1-4 22.6

6 Seckman 0-5 13.7

Vianney losing last week may open things up to Jackson to make a run at the top spot. Regardless of the head-to-head results, if Jackson would end up a far better record (say 8-1 vs 6-3) I would think the points would hold sway. Vianney fans may think otherwise. The Sikeston matchup with Jackson should be a good one!
