LOL
Has anyone noticed the district assignments for Class 1. Hayti and Portageville are in the same district as Cabool and Thayer. I look forward to making the drive to Cabool next year.
-- Posted by drawmules on Sun, Jan 31, 2010, at 7:29 PM
I just ran the trip between Hayti and Cabool on my Streets & Trips program. The drive from Hayti to Cabool is 192 miles.
-- Posted by drawmules on Sun, Jan 31, 2010, at 7:32 PM
I was surprised to see that Perryville moved up to class 4 and is in a district with Sikeston, Farmington and Cape. I also noticed Potosi moved up to class 4 and is in district 2. Recently, district 1 has dominated district 2 in the playoffs. With the addition of Potosi, I wonder if this will continue. But then again, how good will Potosi be without Brandon Bourbon?
-- Posted by football monkey on Sun, Jan 31, 2010, at 7:45 PM
WOW. Sikeston and Cape Central are in the same district next year. Sikeston, Cape Central, Perryville and Farmington are in a district together.

I think that is a great question. How good will Potosi be without Brandon Bourbon? Any thoughts?
Hey Crader
I think you should Cover it Live when Portageville or Hayti travels to Cabool LOL.
-- Posted by drawmules on Sun, Jan 31, 2010, at 7:52 PM
I think the bottom line in class 4 is - district 1 is now weaker with the loss of Bluff and West Plains and the addition of Perryville and Cape; while district 2 is strengthened with the addition of Potosi. The last 2 years, the runner-up in district 1 has defeated the champ from district 2, leading to a rematch of district 1 teams in the second round. Nobody likes to see that. I think the changes are good. Unless Cape is vastly improved, I predict Farmington and Sikeston advance to the playoffs next year from district 1.

You don't have to worry about me disagreeing with you when it comes to football predictions. Football is my fourth sport.
I hope to learn more about high school football in the future. Unti then . . . I'll only debate predictions pertaining to volleyball, basketball and baseball. It's not that I don't like high school football. But . . . I've followed the other sports much longer. Volleyball and basketball for 18 years . . . baseball for 10 years. . . football for 2 years.
How long have you followed football football monkey?
-- Posted by drawmules on Sun, Jan 31, 2010, at 8:33 PM
About thirty years.
-- Posted by football monkey on Sun, Jan 31, 2010, at 8:44 PM
Class 3 fredericktown blackcats got moved back to the southern district that we were in soo many years ago. From what i understand we will be playing north county, sikeston, herky, kennet?, dexter?, new madrid, perryville, charleston, east praire, and chester. Dont know the order except that north county will be our first game and it will be in blackcat valley.
-- Posted by blackcat 55 on Wed, Feb 3, 2010, at 8:53 PM
I hear Sikeston and Fredericktown will not be playing this year. Rumor has it that Sikeston has picked up Obion County TN.
-- Posted by football monkey on Wed, Feb 3, 2010, at 9:21 PM
Hmm.. i didnt hear that but theres alot of things that our coaches havnt told us yet soo ill get back to you all with the facts as soon as i hear about them.
-- Posted by blackcat 55 on Wed, Feb 3, 2010, at 9:26 PM
Monkey,
You are correct about the Sikeston/Fredricktown game. The cats were the ones that asked out of the game. Apparently didn't feel they could compete anymore with the Dogs. Sikeston has picked up Obion County for the first game of the year.
-- Posted by JuniorBulldog on Wed, Feb 3, 2010, at 10:04 PM
The other intersting thing that almost happened was, Sikeston and Helias were trrying to schedule a season opener in St Louis , at a neutral site.
That was not worked out, and Sikeston opens at Obion County Tenn, and Helias starts the season with Harrisonville Aug 27th , 2010
Anxious to see hte Bulldogs again this year...I am hoping for a District repeat Championship !!

Speaking of district 1 being refigured, what about district 1 in class 2? Rumors are rampant that Charleston will NOT field a football team. I have heard this over and over again from multiple sources. I hear their numbers last year were down so significantly and the apparent lack of interest has resulted in a strong push to not field a team next year. I also hear that nothing is official, but this is the way the administration is leaning. Anybody close to the program have any facts? Do they even have a coach yet? Again, rumors are flying and I'm just trying to clear some things up.
-- Posted by football monkey on Fri, Feb 5, 2010, at 10:35 AM
There is even a rumor that Charleston and E Prarie join and form a central school district.
Not saying it is rampant, but I have heard that around. Only one problem......there is no school that can accomodate all of the two schools' students, nothing on the books or drawing board to build such a school.....and so , rumor it must be.
But.......it did not seem to hurt NMCC.....
Maybe we'll have a MCC
( Mississippi County Central) ???

Fredericktown will be playing and this is not the order; north county, herculaneum, perryville, maplewood, kennet, potosi, central, st gen, nmcc, and dexter. Do know that north county will be first game on Aug 27th.

We can always compete with the dogs jb. Just looking for some different competition this year. Im sure the two will meet agian in the future.
-- Posted by blackcat 55 on Fri, Feb 5, 2010, at 4:29 PM
Blackcat, I was not implying anything. Just repeating what was told to our AD. They didn't like the level of competiton that either was coming up the pipeline for them or what Sikeston is bringing to the table over the next few seasons. Sorry if you took offense to the comment.

I'm from Bernie right now. But I'm unsure if I will be living in Southeast Missouri when football season starts next year. I'm trying to learn more about football in this area. I haven't followed football in Southeast Missouri like I have followed basketball, baseball and volleyball over the past 20 years.

Does anyone know the reason that everyone was either moved to a different class or district?
-- Posted by blackcat 55 on Fri, Mar 5, 2010, at 1:33 PM
blackcat 55, the reason for the moves are because to the number of students. Class 4 Cape is at the top of the break between Class 4 & 5 and Perryville is at the bottom of the break between Class 4 & 3. Two years from now those two school maybe be moving back down or up a class. Each class in football the state (MSHSAA) tries to have an equal number of teams for Class 1 - 4. Class 5 & 6 are mostly the larger school out of St. Louis, Kansas City or Springfield. Check the MSHSAA site and you can get the school enrollments.

Heard Charleston hired a football coach the other day. Glad they didn't drop the program even though he has a lot of work in front of him.

I see bigknightfan, wonder why the sudden increase in students? JuniorBulldog that's good news. Wish there was some way the surrounding schools could help out.
