I went to the Lesterville/Winona basketball game in Lesterville a few years ago and had terrible service with my iPhone there. I would venture a guess to say that cell phone service in most of SEMO has improved since then. I still find it hard to believe in some of the poor reception that I have in some places, that I feel shouldn't have poor reception.

I have service at Lesterville when I am there and I live in STL. Not sure you will be someone can post on here the results.

Advance wins Game 3 25-19. Beautifully played match between two good teams. Both teams were in full attack mode the whole time. No fear.
Advance will get a 30 minute break before warming up to play Bernie. This is one of the many reason I hate that sectionals are played on the same day in volleyball. Wish both teams had a day or two to prepare but oh well.
-- Posted by Rachel Crader (Moderator) on Sat, Oct 27, 2012, at 5:43 PM
I agree Rachel. I don't like the fact that district semifinals and finals are played on the same day either. In fact I don't like how the VB playoffs are done at all

Perryville was down 20-16 in the 3rd set and went on 8-1 run. One the most craziest things I have seen in high school sports being that Lutheran South was very talented across the board. It's amazing what pressure can do to high school athletes. Perryville stepped up and played outstanding defensively and enough offense to get the job done. 1st final four in phs volleyball history! Congrats to Coach Dave Mirly and his assistants and all the players throughout the program! Very proud to be a Perryville pirate/lady pirate tonight!

I just want to congratulate Bernie & Perryville for making to the next level & represent r Southeast area.I would also like to hand it to the coach of Advance for congratulating Bernie in a tough win as well as their seniors.See I'm not so bad,I just ask for a little respect & sprotsmanship no matter who the team.

I am still in shock that Valle Catholic lost!! This has got to be the biggest upset this year. They were 32-0 going in and beat all the big schools they played this year.
-- Posted by baseballislife on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 6:47 PM
I agree with baseballislife. However, the Winona program pulled off a similiar upset against Eminence a couple of seasons ago. The Winona program has been one of the top programs in the state in the last decade.
-- Posted by Dustin Ward on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 6:53 PM
Winona has an excellent team and will continue to be a force to reckon with as they are very young.

I wanna know who is everyone's picks for district, sectional,& final four in each district next year, gotta schools losing talent so should shake things up & also open up for some teams that have been close.I know its early but let c what ya got.
-- Posted by vballfever on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 7:06 PM
Winona has one of the best players in the state and a solid group around her, according to Coach Mirly. The best team does not always win and I would think Valle felt the pressure yesterday. I am not to say, maybe Winona was the better team. It's hard to judge when you get to sectionals because common opponents are sparse and the teams usually did not meet in the regular season.
-- Posted by deckerd31 on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 10:41 PM
In class 3, Perryville will lose their go to player in Gremaud, along with some other seniors from their record setting team. They have a very solid sophomore class that came up huge against Lutheran South. Perryville will have one senior next year, Hadler, who is solid and will also add some of the now freshmen, sophomores next year into the mix. Dexter was young this year and I'm sure notre dame will be right where they always are. Class 3 district 1 will be a 3 horse race with the winner most likely winning sectionals & having a tough quarterfinal match but a decent shot to get to the show me center.
-- Posted by deckerd31 on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 10:50 PM
WCA's losses are all against MAJOR volleyball schools in the STL area.2 if not 3 of which made it into class 4 playoffs (Lafayette Wildwood still in) so to say the least PHS is gonna have their handful to get any further, I'm a Perryville resident and would love to see them succeed, but I think they're gonna get popped right off the bat
-- Posted by BillShakespeare on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 11:59 PM
Perryville (PHS) has been the underdog in districts, sectionals and now state...its amazing what resiliency and preperation (mental and physical) can do for a team.
