now it seems that all the schools of the Big 12 are in a panic since it appears that the conference may not be around much longer. I turned on ESPN this morning and the 1st thing I heard was that Mizzou, Kansas, and Kansas State might end up in the Big East. Please, give me a break, Lets wait and see what happens to the Big 12 before we go to a lesser conference. Even with out Nebraska, Colorado, and Texas A&M, the big 12 is still one of the power conferences in college football. Look at the polls and you might notice the number of teams from the Big 12 ranked in the top 20 in the national polls. The Big 12, even as it is after the departures of Nebraska, Colorado, and probably A&M,is as good as anybody. Consider the teams ranked from the conference: #1 Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas, Mizzou, Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas A&M for this year, and Kansas State with legendary Coach Bill Snyder back will be better. Even Kansas will improve with Coach Turner Gill in his 3rd year. As for Oklahoma now talking about going to the PAC 10, Who cares? When the smoke clears, and teams leave for different conferences, The University of Missouri can go to any conference that they choose to go to. SEC or Big 10. Mizzou is not Kansas or Iowa State. Their program has been solid under Coach Pinkle and with their high standard of academics, and being a class program in the NCAA we will have many suitors knocking at the door for us to join their conference. I really dont know why teams want to leave the Big 12. I know Texas has the TV contract and maybe the other schools feel they are not getting their fair share of revenue. Coach Pinkle recruits most of his players from the state of Texas. I dont want to leave the conference, but like I said, Mizzou can go where ever they want. It would be nice to play in the SEC. We would get more exposure and after all the smoke clears from the Haith investigation, which now seems to be a bunch of false allegations, we could become a power house in basketball in the SEC. Note, give us a couple years to revive our basketball program. It would be nice to play Arkansas in basketball. The bottom line is: Mizzou fans don't panic. We will end up where we want to go. I am proud of Mizzou and look foward to the future of athletics at Missouri. GO MIZZOU!
well if oklahoma leaves for the pac12 which seems more and more likely then oklahoma state will more then likely follow and if those two schools leave i would only imagine that texas will follow as well

Mizzou couldn't finish second to last in the SEC!!!

Maybe Mizzou can go to the Big East or Mountain West where they can actually contend for a conference title. They are a leftover team of the Big 12. They aren't Oklahoma, Texas, OK State, or Texas Tech who are all kind of connected to each other. They'll end up with whatever bottom feeder wants them or whatever power conference desires a doormat. They are not a prized commodity.

I know this much, if they want to pack the stands then they will join the SEC. I wouldn't pay 2 nickels to watch Mizzou play Cincinnati or Boston College. I would, however pay to see Alabama, Florida, Auburn or LSU.

Easy sideline.....Mizzou would be a force in the SEC in hoops. Football.....probably not at first....but playing in the SEC will help recruiting.

I don't think Mizzou would be top 10 in Basketball and would only finish maybe .500 in football each year because it isn't a top school at all!
I know alot around here think Mizzou is amazing but they are only a Top 5 team in the Big 12 in both football and basketball, when you add them to the SEC they are as Sideline said "the doormat"
Super Conferences will only hurt Mizzou. They maybe better off going ACC or Big EAST!

Mizzou would not be a doormat in SEC football. I'm not saying they would win the conference championship, but this year, they would beat Vandy, Kentucky, Ole Miss and Tennessee. They could compete with the middle of the field like Georgia, Mississippi State, Auburn, and Florida. They could also be a sleeper in a game against SC. That potentially puts them fourth in the current SEC. I am well aware that this is all speculation, but let's not forget that Mizzou destroyed a very good Arkansas team a few years back in the Cotton bowl. Recruiting would skyrocket and they could potentially be a solid program in the SEC.
Mizzou has a ton to offer in both football and basketball, including the television markets of STL and KC to the SEC.

I completly agree with you. Missouri is not anybody's doormat in cfb. If they end up in the SEC that would be great. We recruit most of our players from the south anyway, esp. Texas. Every since Pinkle has been at Mizzou the program has improved. A lot of people don't remeber the teams of the past at Mizzou. Remember the late 70s or a Coach by the name of Dan Divine. Everybody needs to get on the band-wagon and support Mizzou. One of these years we will win a national championship in football or basketball.

Mizzou needs to make the move to the SEC. Hanging around for the next 6 years in the Big 12-3 will end up leading them straight to the Mountain West or some other lower tier conference. The main reason they need to make the move involves recruiting. If I had a son that was god enough to play D-1 football and Mizzou was in the 5th year of the new 6 year deal there is no way I would want them to go to Mizzou with the prospect that a year later he would end up playing in Conference USA. After Texa$ and Oklahoma bolt, the Tigers will be left with their heads spinning wondering why they didn't make the move. Get out now!
