Yost is Toast!!
Posted by exzalmanian on Sat, Sep 22, 2012, at 6:22 PM:

Is Gary Pinkel ever going to wake and realize that David Yost is the team's biggest problem? Yost is awful at play calling and never calls a play seems he designed on his own. The same QB Draw play again and again. 15times today Franklin carried the ball and only gained 7 yards. Sure the team has other problems, but Yost is a hindrance to the team because he prevents the team from going downfield with the passing game. DGB, the best WR out of HS is never used. How much longer will we be tormented?

I haven't understood the lack of use for DGB myself. You would think he would be a major weapon but he's had limited looks all year. I can't blame it all on Yost though. Mizzou is playing their Big 12 talent against SEC talent and it's showing. Until Mizzou can start getting some top 10 recruiting classes, unfortunately, things aren't going to change.

PZalmanian is exactly right!!! Yost needs to go! Move Franklin to WR and use Berkstressers arm and thinking ability to score. If MU would let him actually throw the ball, it MIGHT open up the run game!!!!

Dexter native is right take franklin out put corbin in and mizzou will b good u cnt win a game if u dnt throw downfield **** mizzou!

The SEC defenses I think have caught on. First of all, I don't Franklin has the arm of a true QB. But Berk does and I think switching JF to WR and moving Berk to QB could have an awesome impact. I have never been a fan of Franklin as QB. Anytime I've watched him he arm looks flat and weak. That's not knocking him, the blame is on the coaches for keeping him as the starting QB. Second, if your offense is going use a QB draw 15 times, and only use screen passes with the occasional dump pass into the flat, then the defense really only needs to cover the 15 yards off the line. That's a simple defense and until Mizzou wakes up and start using their receivers down field, this is going to be a very long depressing season. Welcome to the SEC Mizzou! FIRE YOST

I dont believe all the blame can be on Yost, I would say a good part of it though. But look at the zone reads, how many times is he callin zone reads and Franklin makes the wrong decision and it goes for a negative play. How many times against SC did Franklin have open recievers down field but decided to throw a 4 yard pass, and when he did decide to throw the ball further than 5 yards it wasn't even in the vicinity of the reciever. Mizzou had a 3rd and 11 on its own 19 against SC and Franklin threw a 3 yard out pattern where Mcgaffie was tackled immediately.

I never believed Franklin could take this team to the next level. To run the spread you have to have a QB that can sling it. Berk has the arm, he just needs the experience.

Besides being able to sling it, you have to be able to run a little. I'm not sure Berk is a true "dual threat" QB, but he is better than Franklin....in my opinion. When the true freshman, Maty Mauk, gets some experience, the Tigers will have 'em a QB!! The kid can FLAT OUT PLAY! Put his name in on YouTube. He had almost 6,000 yards passing his senior year in HS and over 1,500 yards rushing. I realize that's against HS kids and this is the SEC, but he will be a good QB.

Chase Daniel had 971 yds rushing at 2.7 ypc in his 3 years as a starter, you dont have to be a true dual threat QB to be a great QB running the spread. I think if Berk is the QB you have to go back to a lot of the designed runs that they ran with Chase back in the day. But I think big Berk showed he can run the zone read when needed on that TD run he had against ASU when he carried 4 guys into the end zone. I know 21/41 198 yds and a pick against ASU aren't eye popping but when you look at the pressure he was under and throw on top of that, it was his first start as a Redshirt Freshman on national television against a solid ASU team....Im excited about what we have with Berk.

ASU as a solid team is jumping the shark perkinsballer

-- Posted by exzalmanian on Wed, Sep 26, 2012, at 12:48 AM

ASU is 3-1 with a 30 point win over Utah and a 31 point win over Illinois....ASU isn't exactly on Alabama or LSU's level, but they aren't an OVC team either.

And since when has Illinois been good? Congrats to ASU for beat an awful team. And Utah has been over rated all year. Utah State also beat them, so let's not start contributing to the terrible over rated BCS polls and over stating how good teams are. Mizzou should have beaten ASU by 3 TDs but instead almost lost that game.

All I said was Az State was a solid team and you are acting like I said Chaffee could beat the NY Giants. It's just my opinion.

I was using that as my basis that Dave Yost needs to be fired, because even with a redshirt freshman qb Mizzou should have beaten ASU by 3 TDs

I think Yost falls in love with too many designed QB runs. After getting murdered by SC and Georgia on those plays, he still hasn't figured out it is not going to work against top tier defenses, whether its because SEC defenses have too much speed, or its our patchwork O-line, regardless he has to change. Mizzou's RBs are averagin 5.5ypc, and hes still running Franklin 2x's as much as he is our RBs. Its also pretty pointless to go 5 wide if our QB just locks on his first option then either holds onto the ball too long and gets sacked or throws a ball into coverage that shouldn't have been thrown. And that just falls back on Yost also because he's the QB coach.

Oh my god... I just now saw this thread yes yost is terrible.. I'm glad I found some more people that agree with me but seriously Steckel needs a raise and a back massage at the end of every game because his back has to hurt from carrying yost

Well Yost may not be the biggest idiot after all

DBG (cuff em and stuff em)
