Well, Pinkel is going to have to start recruiting players that fit the SEC style of football. You have to quit with the QB's that had more rushing yards than passing in HS. Get a RB that weighs 200+ and right now their offensive line is depleted. Offensive play calling is way off I am thinking they will eventually have to start running different formations. This is not the Big 12 anymore especially the last few years Texas was down and Oklahoma was not as good as years past.
Coaching staff is sub-par most of them have been with him since he left Toledo but he has such dedication to those guys I believe he will let the ship sink around him.
Missouri is going to want to win football games sooner than later and if he is not getting it done don't think for one second that Mizzou will not look elsewhere for another coaching staff. I know Missouri has had some good seasons the last few years winning a couple games that they were not supposed to but they have had alot of cup-cakes over the last few years.

Yah i agree with u beef. Im afraid they need an entirely new scheme, and fast, or the fanbase will start declining as the SEC newness wears off. Its gonna be a bleak couple of years for fball. :((

They have a 6'4 215lbs pocket passer from Georgia committed, and a 6'4 210lbs 4 star athlete from St. Louis also committed who some say will play RB, some say safety, so maybe they are looking at changing the offensive style, but maybe not, who knows.

Mizzou will not win in the SEC with Pinkel. He made it clear speaking in the offseason that he didn't like the move to the SEC. He was smart enough to know his offense wouldn't work and wasn't happy about it. They won't be successful in the SEC unless they get a defensive minded coach that can recruit out of state. Sorry, but very few Mizzou defenders would start for other SEC teams, but that's just the growing pains of a conference and culture change. Pinkel doesn't want to change though and if he doesn't, Mizzou will either have to make a change or suffer mediocrity.

I wasn't necessarily UK was going to win, but just to be fun I will now haha. So I'm saying UK wins this weekend, and if they don't I'll come apologize haha.

Id say that louisville western kentucky and arkansas are all worst than vandy who's the worst team mizzou has lost to
-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Wed, Oct 24, 2012, at 12:38 PM
Having a year of experience in the SEC and having a bunch of young guys playing this year will only help Mizzou in the future. Pinkel will have to make some adjustments in him and Yost's offensive schemes but I'm quite sure they know that they have to win some games to save their jobs over the next few years so they will work extremely hard to find some answers. Mizzou was generally the 4th or 5th best team in the Big 12 over Pikel's tenure and if he can get them to middle of the pack in SEC then I would say that is very successful. They are not going to be perennial conference and division title contenders. Alabama, LSU, Florida, Georgia etc have had about an 80 year head start over Missouri in SEC play. Give it some time, if in 3-5 years no progress is made it's time to clean house and start fresh.
-- Posted by 6+4+3=2 on Thu, Oct 25, 2012, at 1:19 PM
Yah good points. I hafta keep reminding myself that, except for a handful of years, mazoo has always been a middle of the packer in the big 6, 8, 12, and 10, watever its called! We are not an elite fball program, never been close. Thus the SEC gonna have us for lunch unfortunately, hate it, but ya gotta live with decisions, good or bad.
-- Posted by cirithungol17 on Thu, Oct 25, 2012, at 2:04 PM
I will eat my words if Mizzou wins. But I have a good feeling I will not be doing so!

Okay I apologize, Mizzou beat Kentucky. Mizzou's defense really stepped up today. Kony played good too.
-- Posted by BuckMajor on Sat, Oct 27, 2012, at 4:18 PM
Well Buck I'm eating my words now. But wow I didn't see this being case when looking at how well Kentucky at had played, albeit in loses, in recent weeks and looking at how poorly Mizzou had played.
-- Posted by Jolly Dump on Sat, Oct 27, 2012, at 6:37 PM
Yup they did it, zou defense was awesome and I didn't realize how weak ky was. Good win, my 0 for SEC prediction fortunately was a bit inaccurate!!
-- Posted by cirithungol17 on Sat, Oct 27, 2012, at 9:46 PM
That was a game of two terrible god awful teams, and UK just happened to be a little more terrible. Bad part is Mizzou is a good QB and a couple healthy O-lineman away from being a top 25 team. This is the best defense they have had in a very, very long time, the problem is they have to play 3 quarters a game because the offense is so terrible.
-- Posted by DaleDoback on Sat, Oct 27, 2012, at 11:02 PM
The good news is that other than UK, Mizzou will be a top team in SEC and given UK is young, Mizzou may beat em, well in Columbia. I don't see us beating them in Lexington
-- Posted by Jolly Dump on Sat, Oct 27, 2012, at 11:36 PM
Mizzou's problem right now is that yost in what 4 years now as an OC? has not learned a few things...
1. The importance of running the ball cosistantly
2. When to throw the ball short
3. When to try to take a shot down field
Also Id just like to say that I do not judge a team in the same way that a lot of you do which is the same reason I laughed at many posters who said after week 1 in high school football last year that sikeston would be lucky to win 5 games.
back to mizzou, I just like to say that mizzou is not the 2nd worst team either they are definitly better than auburn and it's very debatable on if they are better than ole miss and arkansas
-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 12:39 AM
How would you like to be MIZZOU going into the swamp this week?? That could get real ugly very quick! Florida won't be in a good mood.
-- Posted by bulletman on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 3:39 PM
Yea, talk about a heckuva time to have to play UF on the road.
-- Posted by DaleDoback on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 3:56 PM
I have no delusions about beatin florida in the swamp but to stay in the game mizzou has to not turn it over and they have to run the ball, I dont think florida is good enough on offense to beat the tar out of mizzou unless mizzou's D has to be on the field 3/4 of the game
OH and just to further my point on how bad Yost is
The definition of how good you are as a coordinator is shown on 3rd down... Mizzou is 114 out of 124 in the nation with a 3rd down conversion percentage of 31.7%
-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 5:36 PM

Sonic--I agree on Yost but I think Florida will beat them very bad. MIZZOU is going to have to get used to these SEC crowds...They aren't just big but they are VERY loud. MIZZOU is used to big crowds from the big 12 but nothing like the SEC noise. Different atmosphere
-- Posted by bulletman on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 5:56 PM
When Mizzou goes to the swamp next week, the crowd noise will be the least of their problems.
-- Posted by DaleDoback on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 8:07 PM
You act like the SEC is the only place in the world where they have large, loud crowds. You also overestimate florida's ability to score... To blow people out, you gotta score

My SEC Power Rankings:
1) Alabama
2) LSU
3) Georgia
4) Florida
5) South Carolina
6) Texas A&M
7) Mississippi State
8) Ole Miss
9) Arkansas
10) Tennessee
11) Vanderbilt
12) Mizzou
13) Auburn
14) Kentucky

I dont agree with that list 8 through 12 but we will see. I see ole miss losing out, tennessee wining out vandy winning 3 out of 4 (losing to tennessee) arkansas wins 1 more game at most but they also prolly lose out and mizzou will win at least 1 more ...
I would say
1. bama
2. Lsu
3. georgia
4. Texas a&m
5. South carolina
6. miss st
7. Tenn
8. Vandy
9. Mizzou
10. ole miss
11. arkansas
12.auburn
13. Uk
-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 9:41 PM
I'll start with.. tennessee has lost to florida georgia missippi state alabama and south carolina easily the most difficult schedule any of the teams below them has played look for them to make a late push into a bowl game
-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 9:47 PM
Vandy has lost to
South carolina,
Northwestern on the road the week after the disappointing loss to sc, georgia and florida so this final 4 games of the season will tell more about them than what theyve done so far
look for them to beat uk ole miss and wake forest and possibly get into another bowl game
-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 9:51 PM
Mizzou worst lost was to vandy may not make a bowl game game but neither will anybody below them, they get 1 more win this year against cuse
Ole miss while they have a decent record the fbs teams they have beat have a combined 8 wins thats 2 a piece not so good of compitition they finish the year against Georgia Vanderbilt LSU and Mississippi State... sorry but no wins down the stretch against any of these teams
Arkansas they have only beaten 2 d1 schools who have a combined 2 wins the fact that they are anywhere near the top of sidlines list is astonishing
auburn only just barely beat ulm and ulms best win this year is either arkansas week 1 or western kentucky
Both in ot lost to baylor who is struggling in the big 12
And then kentucky... smh is all I can say
-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 10:03 PM
Tennessee isn't that great. Lots of good talent on the offensive side of the ball but not a good defense and a coach who does nothing to help them win games. I could see them winning out just because they don't have any great teams left to play but neither Mizzou or Vandy will be a gimme for them. It is really a tossup between those three teams but I don't think any of them are better than Arkansas or Ole Miss. Ole Miss barely lost to a very good Texas A&M, played better against Bama than anyone has this year, is on a two game SEC win streak (even if it is against Auburn and Arky), and has developed quite a bit on both sides of the ball. If they were playing like they did early in the year, I could see them losing out but they have improved dramatically and I see them going 2-2 down the stretch (W's over Vandy and Mississippi State who was only unbeaten coming into the Bama game due to how weak their schedule was). Arkansas will probably beat Tulsa (who is not a bad team) and has a chance against inconsistent South Carolina and overrated MS State but will lose to LSU. The Razorbacks are finally pretty healthy though their QB has a nagging hip injury and they've found a running back in Dennis Johnson and have maybe the best wide receiver in the conference in Cobi Hamilton.

All im gonna say we will see how it plays out anything can happen but we will see
-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 10:11 PM
Agreed. Got nothing but respect for you Sonic but I think the West two (Ole Miss and Arky) are better than the East three (Tenn, Vandy, Mizzou). I'll be at the Ole Miss-Vandy game which should be interesting since Ole Miss wins with their offense while Vandy wins with their defense.
-- Posted by sideline starter on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 10:15 PM
And I agree that miss st schedule has been easy but so has ole miss also I think the fact that that game was hyped up played a role in how it went down... on the other hand No one in there right mind gave ole miss to play within 40 so that played a role
-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 10:16 PM
Considering where we were last year, we just want to make a bowl. But getting Hugh Freeze as coach is going to bring Ole Miss into being a team that is talked about starting next year or the year after. Not a perrenial national title contender but a team that will be in the bowls consistently and may sneak into a big game sometime in the next five years. Getting rid of our AD who had a sub-.500 combined record in the SEC in football, basketball, and baseball and bringing in a guy who gets the program will help as well. The athletic program finally has some life breathed into it.
-- Posted by sideline starter on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 10:23 PM
Thats all us true mizzou fans want to do too or really expect to do. I believe mizzou could beat vandy with a healthy james franklin his injury in that one cost mizzou.
C. Berkstresser was 9/30 for 189 yards 1 td for mizzou to move the ball with yost callin plays we have to complete a better % of those balls, I mean its not like mizzou is a runnin team that takes a lot of downfield shots. They throw a lot of quick throws. (too many if you ask me) If mizzou wants to be competitive in the SEC they need to do whatever it takes to Get Gus Malzahn from Arkansas st
-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 10:42 PM
I don't see Mizzou reeling in Malzahn because if a team is smart this offseason (Auburn, Arkansas, Kentucky, probably Tennessee), one of them should take him in a heartbeat. Mizzou is going to stick with ole Pinkel at least until after the 2013 season and may give him until the 2014 season with the "getting used to the SEC" reasoning and the fact they've been so injured this year but Mizzou is going to need to develop a rushing attack or overhaul the offense (either way, get rid of Yost) if they want to get above being in the Vandy/Tennessee pack especially since I think Florida is only going to get better in the next couple of years with Muschamp. By the time the Mizzou offense catches up, they will probably have wasted their great defensive line they have now.
-- Posted by sideline starter on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 10:48 PM
If gus was at mizzou I believe they would average 30 points a game... mizzou averages is 24 points a game but 62 points against se Louisiana, the fact that they have 1 of the best returners in the country in marcus murphy who has 4 total returns for touchdowns and a defence that has 3 tds to it credit we average 18 a game without that and you have to take into acount how many time the defense has given the offense the ball already in scoring range. That is the Statistical reason why I say out with Yost
-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 11:08 PM
and im just sayin I am 1 of the last people to call for your job Rich Rod, Charlie Weis are prime examples of people that should not have been fired. Why were those 2 teams bad? they didn't have the defense... look at them now the guys they requited on defense look better than the guys on offense. Why? Michigan, for example, tries to make Denard Robinson drop back in pass... which is completly stupid. They were better on offense Denard's sophomore year imagine how much better they would be if they were still a spread team... Charlie weis made jimmy clausen look like a top qb imagine how much better that offense would be.
-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Sun, Oct 28, 2012, at 11:22 PM
Sideline---I'll be at the Vandy game also. Ole Miss is definitely better than I thought they would be this year. Hotty Toddy!!
-- Posted by bulletman on Mon, Oct 29, 2012, at 8:15 PM
Kony and that defense kept them in the game the whole time, and Franklin gave it away every. single. time. 4 interceptions SMH!!
-- Posted by BuckMajor on Sat, Nov 3, 2012, at 2:23 PM
Gary Pinkel needs to make smarter decisions with the Quarterback. Play Maty Mauk. Berkstresser and Franklin are not the answer

This guy doesn't know what he's talking about...
The tale of 2 halves thing ridiculous... Missouri defense doesn't get any respect because of how awful the offense is
Also it's not like they just absolutely dominated the entire second half they had 54 more yards of offense in the second half had to big place for touchdowns to win the offense gave it them in short fields
So to say that is bogus the flat to start the game excuse was ridiculous because at 12 for Florida it was 11 for the Tigers 0hand like I said earlier if Missoula voids the turnovers they are a much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much much better team
-- Posted by Sonic-The-Hedgehog on Sat, Nov 3, 2012, at 10:56 PM
You people are sad,?mizzou was a non factor bottom dweller before pinkel got there. He will win in the sec. But if you don't like it you can always go back to the way it was the previous 20 or 30 years. Anyone who can make the mighty tigers relevant in football and win like he has prior to this year is a very good coach. You people obviously forgot where you came from. You are not USC or ALABAMA , even though pinkel had you one win away from being in their company a few years ago. Go ahead and cry about your coach and his staff, the grass might be dead on the other side.
-- Posted by ktown 5150 on Thu, Nov 15, 2012, at 8:53 PM
I have no problem with Pinkle or the majority of his staff but its hard to sit and watch an oc who is as incompetent as yost... he wasts to be mike leach so bad he cant see straight and he isnt smart enough or crazy enough to be leach you have to run the football to win... look at all the top teams in college football they all run it and run it well and he refuses to run the ball consistantly. And I like the rest of this staff as a whole the defensive side especially

I will eat my words if Mizzou wins. But I have a good feeling I will not be doing so!
Okay I apologize, Mizzou beat Kentucky. Mizzou's defense really stepped up today. Kony played good too.
Well Buck I'm eating my words now. But wow I didn't see this being case when looking at how well Kentucky at had played, albeit in loses, in recent weeks and looking at how poorly Mizzou had played.
Yup they did it, zou defense was awesome and I didn't realize how weak ky was. Good win, my 0 for SEC prediction fortunately was a bit inaccurate!!
The good news is that other than UK, Mizzou will be a top team in SEC and given UK is young, Mizzou may beat em, well in Columbia. I don't see us beating them in Lexington
How would you like to be MIZZOU going into the swamp this week?? That could get real ugly very quick! Florida won't be in a good mood.
Yea, talk about a heckuva time to have to play UF on the road.
Mizzou is 114 out of 124 in the nation with a 3rd down conversion percentage of 31.7%
And of the 10 teams they are ahead of, Vandy and Wake forest are the only 2 with even a .500 record (both 4-4)

When Mizzou goes to the swamp next week, the crowd noise will be the least of their problems.
You act like the SEC is the only place in the world where they have large, loud crowds. You also overestimate florida's ability to score... To blow people out, you gotta score
My SEC Power Rankings:
1) Alabama
2) LSU
3) Georgia
4) Florida
5) South Carolina
6) Texas A&M
7) Mississippi State
8) Ole Miss
9) Arkansas
10) Tennessee
11) Vanderbilt
12) Mizzou
13) Auburn
14) Kentucky
I dont agree with that list 8 through 12 but we will see. I see ole miss losing out, tennessee wining out vandy winning 3 out of 4 (losing to tennessee) arkansas wins 1 more game at most but they also prolly lose out and mizzou will win at least 1 more ...
I would say
1. bama
2. Lsu
3. georgia
4. Texas a&m
5. South carolina
6. miss st
7. Tenn
8. Vandy
9. Mizzou
10. ole miss
11. arkansas
12.auburn
13. Uk
I'll start with.. tennessee has lost to florida georgia missippi state alabama and south carolina easily the most difficult schedule any of the teams below them has played look for them to make a late push into a bowl game
Vandy has lost to
South carolina,
Northwestern on the road the week after the disappointing loss to sc, georgia and florida so this final 4 games of the season will tell more about them than what theyve done so far
look for them to beat uk ole miss and wake forest and possibly get into another bowl game
All im gonna say we will see how it plays out anything can happen but we will see
And I agree that miss st schedule has been easy but so has ole miss also I think the fact that that game was hyped up played a role in how it went down... on the other hand No one in there right mind gave ole miss to play within 40 so that played a role
That is the Statistical reason why I say out with Yost
and im just sayin I am 1 of the last people to call for your job Rich Rod, Charlie Weis are prime examples of people that should not have been fired.
Sideline---I'll be at the Vandy game also. Ole Miss is definitely better than I thought they would be this year. Hotty Toddy!!
Kony and that defense kept them in the game the whole time, and Franklin gave it away every. single. time. 4 interceptions SMH!!
Gary Pinkel needs to make smarter decisions with the Quarterback. Play Maty Mauk. Berkstresser and Franklin are not the answer
Personally I gotta say I told you guys this was going to be a close game S/o to everybody who thought this was gonna be a blowout just like last week when you picked UK you're wrong again... Now if I were you Id ask myself why Im right and you're wrong... Ill chalk it up to your stupidity
http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?game...
Yah like i said earlier i like pinkel and will always appreciate him lifting mazoo up to respectability. This has been possibly the longest run of success of any zou coach, so i hope he succeeds in sec! Time will tell.
Sonic we gotta win 2moro, 'cuse looks to be a challenge. Whats ur take on this game?
