Young Advance catcher providing bright spot in long spring season (4/9/24)There hasn’t been an overwhelming amount of positivity surrounding the Advance High School varsity baseball season this spring, as the (very) young Hornes have labored to a 2-8 mark, and Tuesday’s outing against Bloomfield was no different. The Wildcats took advantage of seven Advance defensive mistakes and earned a 13-4 win, which was the team’s fourth consecutive victory. However, if Advance can feel good about anything this season, thus far, it certainly can be the play of sophomore catcher Jameson Hamlin.

Bloomfield SB off to explosive start following latest rout (4/1/24)With just two seniors, and 11 players total, the expectations for success for the Bloomfield High School softball team his spring was measured entering this spring. However, the Wildcats have proven to have offensive explosiveness – at times – and veteran coach Charlotte Phillips has her team rolling a bit. “We’re building a young team,” Phillips said recently, “and we’re working on it.”

Risco remains unbeaten by holding off late charge from Bloomfield (3/19/24)BLOOMFIELD – Veteran Risco High School coach Brandon Blankenship has coached the Tigers through 16 fall and spring baseball seasons and 22 basketball seasons, so he has seen, and had to endure, every type of scenario possible in sports. On Monday, that experience came in handy, as Blankenship had to utilize four pitchers, and his team overcame four errors, to survive 6-5 against a pesky Bloomfield squad at Bloomfield High School.

Watkins has Bloomfield GBB on the rise after strong season of growth (2/29/24)The top eight girl’s basketball squads within MSHSAA Class 3 are still alive and competing as they take the courts on Friday in the quarterfinal round of the state tournament, and Bloomfield won’t be one of them after falling in its opening postseason game of the recent Class 3 District 2 Tournament. However, there isn’t any way that an observer of the Wildcat program this season could not find it to be an immense success.
